White_Dragon 0 Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Hello everyone, I remember when I was young, around the age of 10 when the first Project IGI was released, which I found very cool at that time. Two years later the second title was released, IGI Covert Strike which was the second game in the serie. I really enjoyed the sound tracks while playing the missions, as it made me think and feel like a special agent or something like that. I therefore thought that I would import them to Armed Assault II. Although the very same file also works with Arma I and there is no need to convert anything. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fr/8/88/Project_IGI_Logo.png <100kb download removed until permissions/copyright sorted out Readme: IGI Covert Strike Sound Track for ArmA II ********************************** Author: White_Dragon Release date: 9th of march 2011 ********************************** This addon contains following: ********************************** - 19 music files. ********************************** Permisson: ********************************** You have my permission to modify this addon as much as you like. ACPL Jon 68 Posted March 10, 2011 Nice, thanks. Any chance for IGI 1 version?
jagheterjan 10 Posted March 10, 2011 Without having downloaded or listened to the files, did you produce them yourself or did you just rip them from the CD?
Inkompetent 0 Posted March 10, 2011 Do you have written permission from the creators of IGI to use the soundtrack in this way?
White_Dragon 0 Posted March 10, 2011 Nice, thanks. Any chance for IGI 1 version? I have tried, although they will not work for ArmA II, I have no idea why, they just wont work for ArmA II. They do work for ArmA I however. Without having downloaded or listened to the files, did you produce them yourself or did you just rip them from the CD? No I did not produce it, the music files is just extra content given out for free when you buy the game. They can also be found randomly around the internet. Do you have written permission from the creators of IGI to use the soundtrack in this way? I do not have an exact permission. The game is from 2003, the music is extra content, that can be found at various websites as well, so I assume they are freeware. The same goes for Project IGI (the first igi game) those sound files are also out on for example "fileplanet.com". If it's not freeware I apologize, however I just draw a conclusion that if a few sites have had these music files for many years, as the game has been out since 2003, and soundtrack is given out as extra material to the CD's I suppose they are free of use. jagheterjan 10 Posted March 10, 2011 Just because things can be found randomly on file-hosting sites across the web, doesn't mean it's free for anyone to use.
Inkompetent 0 Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) If it is hosted on Fileplanet it might be free to use in a non-profitable manner (like these addons), but it might also be under a 'personal use only' license. Best to check that. Edit: Been checking around to try to find info, and it's not easy. On Fileplanet it just says 'free to download' (for the Project IGI soundtrack. I obviously can't find the IGI2 soundtrack there since it's part of the game release), Innerloop who made the game doesn't exist anymore and neither does their website, and finding info at Eidos (the publisher) isn't a walk in the park either since they have no forum section for the IGI games.
