ArmA2 1.08 + OA - in game benchmarks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

as i couldn't find an up to date thread covering all in game benchmarks of Arma2 and OA (+ Demo), i feel free to start one. Some may say again, it's just a "pissing contest", but i believe it's the best way to compare the different rigs, setups and video settings. The results should help all the people who plan a new rig, like i did some weeks before too. Please use only the latest version 1.08. I think we don't need any screenshots to proove the results.

Please post only the results. If you like, we may open another thread for discussions

old rig: C2D E6600, 2GB RAM DDR1, HD3850 AGP 512MB, Win XP SP3

screen res.: 1920x1200

Visibility: 1600

Settings: everything on "low"

Postproc.: disabled

new rig: i2500K @3300, 8GB RAM DDR3, GTX570 Phantom, Win7 64bit (turbo mode off)

screen res.: 1920x1200

Visibility: 1600

Settings: everything on "normal"

Postproc.: disabled

results old / new:

ArmA2 benchmark 1: 24 / 88

ArmA2 benchmark 2: 14 / 25

OA demo benchmark: - / 106

ArmaMark : 1536 / 6554

would I be wrong to assume most people are using ArmA 2 OA v 1.57 ?

there are already a few appropriate threads this could be in instead of starting a new one, but I'm happy you are enjoying your new hardware! :p

I have an i7 920 @ 3.5ghz, with an ATI 5970, and get almost exactly the same results as you do, however, I usually do a bit better seeing as I'm using OA 1.57. I have the same setting as you, except for post-processing (low), and visibility (2400), and resolution (1600x1200).

That benchmark 2, though, is a doozy. It really doesn't matter what system you have, you are never going to get above 30 fps on that one. Talk about overload. :D

thread name is a bit unclear, ArmA2 Combined Operations is indeed 1.08 for ArmA2 (and 1.57 for OA)

gamba the view distance is too low set with 1600. With that hardware, put it on 3600 at least which is standard for "Very High" in Quality Preferences. I'd suggest doing the benchmark with this, unless you're not set on very high, but your hardware is capable enough.

Yet your ArmA2 Benchmark 2 - E08 i guess(?) gives you 25 average FPS only with that setup and all set on "normal"?

Edit: Ah IC the E08 is the Demo benchmark. My bad :D

So enjoy your new rig and don't be afraid of cranking the settings up :p

We have enough "look how many FPS I gonna have" threads. If they are up to date or not, we don't need another one. :)
