Why official COOP missions often complete without Debriefing screen showing up?

Recommended Posts

Anyone can tell why official COOP missions often complete without Debriefing screen showing up in the end?

Is there any way to check with editor or something if Debriefing screen has been forgot to put in some missions?

COOP missions where Debriefing will work normally after successful mission

COOP 02 One Shot One Kill

COOP 04 Scud Busters

COOP 05 Hike In The Hills

COOP 06 Tank Hunters

COOP 07 Seek And Destroy

COOP 08 Laser Show

COOP 18 Morning Dew [Bug sometimes disables debriefing]

COOP missions where Debriefing will not work normally after successful mission

COOP 05 Steel Panthers

COOP 08 Wildcat

COOP 10 Heat

If they dont have those debriefing screens then they probably not added to the mission,

but you can open the pbo up of the mission and find out,

most times the files in the mission folder is where the debriefing and briefing info will be with the mission that the mission

uses to make the briefing and debriefing showup in the game.

Opening PBO files is not part of my expertice. I tried to forum search for information how to do it. What tools to use for example or are functions for already in Arma2.

Any chance of saving my time for excess browsing and directing me to a tutorial or a thread how to do that?

More specifically:

BinPBO Personal Edition - packer

No expertise needed in opening a pbo, a pbo is basically a zip file, binpbo is a tool like winrar, or unzip that opens the file.

when you extract the pbo a folder with the same name as the pbo will showup.

BinPBO doesn't open PBO's but creates them, with the added option of being able to binarize the content.

For unpacking check out Mikero's excellent tools;

Unpack these two into the same folder and run Eliteness.

It'll either be because the mission does not contain a briefing.html file, or in the description.ext file there is the entry debriefing=0. As far as I'm aware those are the only two ways you can prevent a debriefing.

Thank you everyone so far.

I DePBOed and checked below mission folders for description.ext file and none of them contained scriptparameters debriefing = 0; or debriefing = 1;

All of those folders also contained briefing.html file (which is weird because it is 1KB and containing just 1-4 vertical HTML bars)

MPE1_HikeInTheHills.Takistan

MPE1_LaserShow.Takistan

MPE1_OneShotOneKill.Takistan

MPE_SteelPanthers.Takistan

mp_heat.takistan

mp_morningdew.takistan

mp_scudbusters.desert_e

mp_tankbusters.zargabad

mp_wildcatsupport.takistan

The only mission where I found description.ext containing debriefing = 0; was MPE_SectorControl.Zargabad which says it is gameType = SCont; what ever that is, but not COOP mission I'm talking here, but atleast a proof that I was trying to find that parameter inside the right files.

So as a conclusion something else must be causing Debriefing screens not to work even though those COOP missions are properly completed.

Any ideas why Debriefing for those missions comes randomly or not at all?

Have no idea, do you really need a debriefing? Just wondering if a briefing is enough,

idk all depends on how you want to play but if its not showing up then all i can assume is that it dont have one.

Could be a conflict with other scripts is a guess but doubt it.

Yes I really need that Debriefing. :)

1)To verify that the mission is still fully working all the way to the end with current patch version (which will be indicated in screenshot link name).

2)To be really sure if mission was completed to victory or failure (if missions end like this, how can we tell)

3)To see all given tasks/objectives were completed.

4)To see total time of the mission.

5)To put screenshots of Debriefing screen online as a memory of fun session and proof of completion.

6)To help other people by showing them what objectives/tasks should/could be completed.

7)To serve as an indication to players who are AFK when mission ends. Otherwise they will ask "did we complete it or not?", if there is no Debfriefing screen when they return to their computer.

I have never been satisfied by the way they have made the Debriefing screen anyway, because it will only show statistics for one player and not for all of them. Many other games like Rainbow Six series, original Ghost Recon series, IL-2 Sturmovik series, Hidden & Dangerous series, SWAT4 series they all have some kind of Debriefing screen which will show statistics for all players and not just for you.

So if I can barely accept Debriefing beeing so poor, I cannot accept it showing up at all. :( I have so much ideas what Debriefing screen should show like the used difficulty level, but I'm afraid it is too late to have any improvements to it from the developers.

I doubt it is scripting conflict since I have -showscripterrors on and it shows nothing in those situations.

I recorded those mission with Fraps, then watched stopped video slide by slide, noticed missions were indeed success and found out was that Debriefing is actually shown but only a split of a second so you can barely see it before you are automatically returned to Multiplayer Setup screen.

So the real problem is not why Debriefing is not shown, but why Debriefing automatically closes itself in these 4 missions, when normally in other mission it stays until you click Continue from bottom right corner.

Also note that I only have BAF (Lite)

Here are bug reports including some savegames if somebody with BAF DLC could test if this bug is for them, so I we know if it is BAF (Lite)-only bug or BAF (Lite) and BAF DLC bug:

COOP 08 Wildcat http://dev-heaven.net/issues/18172

Just wanted to say that I'm having the same problem only it's with one of my own missions

For me it seems that if I have more than one condition in my end trigger (e.g. task1done && task2done . . .) it flashes the debriefing only up for a split second.

It works as intended if I make it a 'blufor present' trigger or only have one condition

EDIT: running Arma 2 Combined Ops with PMC & BAF

Thanks for feedback Wraith_V

BIS and talented communtity scripters have not been able to solve this. The weirdest thing is that single player versions of the same mission work normally with debriefing but multiplayer version does not. Still I see no difference in design if I open them in editor.

So far below kju's comment at CIT has been the most useful information which I have received:

Looking at it, my first idea was it is due to: forceInServer=1;

However removing it, still shows the same behavior.

When playing the MP pbo version in SP, the debriefing works fine (as in the SP version).

So it is either some faulty local host behavior and due RE (remote execution)

end scripting is my best bet.

EDIT:

ARMA2_OA_Build_85876.zip

changelog.txt

[85746] Fixed: There was no debriefing after MP game ends after saving the game.

Tested and confirmed fixed. Good work BIS!
