I play JA:BiA currently. My first impression was rather negative but after I liberated Drassen I decided to push forward discovering more what this game has to offer. I'm a huge fan of JA2 very critical of "active pause", although this system works amazingly good allowing for really making really precise actions. Despite many flaws and removed features - this game s quite compelling and many people can confirm that there is something which keeps you pushing forward with anticipation.

I carefully gathered a list of pros and cons.

My score is 7 / 10

Metacritic scores

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/jagged-alliance-back-in-action

Pros:

- combat system that works well with order queuing

- not so dumb enemies

- nice and detailed graphics

- weapons to choose from

- quests to complete

- Interesting locations

- plenty of combat tactics player can implement

- lots of clothes & armor pieces to dress with many color variations

- weapon stances and combat calculations

- many types of camouflage

- music in styke of original JA2 themes

Cons:

- static environment & no destructible objects

- awful mercs images, all look like from same father

- lack of relationship / comments among mercs in team

- player can't have his own personal merc from AIM

- lack of M.E.R.C agency

- can't dismiss unwanted mercs

- mercs are hired for the entire game

- many dialog cuts & some awful voice acting. Some mercs sound like retard you dont want in your team.

- grenades don't break glass which is serious meeeeeh, they simply bounce off :/

- one weapon attachment at a time, not so many weapon attachments to choose from

- weapon attachment is removed beck to the inventory once the weapon is transferred to backpack - this is really annoying because you have to attach the same item many of times.

- some important NPC's are missing

- Simplified healing & repairs.

- lack of critical wounds that lower your stats permanently. You can be seriously wounded and slowed in effect but after quick healing you're good as new.

- you can only repair weapons; no armor fixing.

- lack of delete object. Sectors are cluttered with useless shit you cant use nor remove.

- No bloodcats

- general appearance of menus and gui looks cheap

I also checked Jagged Alliance Online made by same company, while it's slightly different game it has so much better looking appearance, GUI with many hand drawn features. Why the hell they didn't use hand drawn images of mercs portraits in JA:BiA - game would look better.
