Helicopter Transport tips

Recommended Posts

I think I am an pretty at flying the helicopters, but I am not so good at transporting troops to a safe location.

I open my map and set a waypoint to where I think would be a safe place to land troops, but almost every time I get shot at by the enemy and my Helicopter engine dies and we crash. It doesn't matter if I am 1,000M away from the mission, if I land behind a hill, or if I am very low to the ground. The enemy always finds a way to shoot me out of the air with their guns, very rare that they shoot rockets at me.

Is there some trick that I haven't figured out? I really like transporting people because it is fun and I feel like it is very helpful. Any tips would be awesome. =)

Stay low, fly in valleys, avoid towns and stay away from hill or mountain peaks as they are favourite places for mission makers to place AA units.

The quickest route from A to B isn't necessarily the safest and sometimes taking a long route to avoid possible dangerous areas will work out better for you.

Stay low, fly fast!

Gettint into the LZ isn´t really the hardest part, getting out is the bitch.

Watch some Videos on Youtube. I recommend you to watch videos of Shack Tactical. They do some pretty good Insertions

EDIT: And be creative! Find Ways to surprise the enemy

You should also practise autorotation so you can at least prevent a crash.

Most of the time I am able to land safely if the engine stops working.

Thanks, it's a great read. What is the gold channel it refers to? Or in other words, when I activate my text messages with '/', what channel is it adjusted for? And how to change the channel?

Hi TeTeT

Channels are:

White: Global

Yellow: Command

Blue: Side

Green: Squad

Gold: Vehicle (distinguishing from yellow command chat, you may decide the yellow is gold all a matter of personal perception)

Purple: Direct Chat

Channels are changed with the [,<] and [.>] keys and affect both VOIP and Chat, and other hooked in voice packages such as TS3 with that ACE voice package.

Kind Regards walker

One of the most crucial things is making sure that everyone in the chopper knows exactly when to get out, especially if you're doing something fancy like a momentary stop just over a rooftop, which is always fun.
