AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 I have been using the A-10 with my keyboard and have done just fine. I tried to set the controls so I can use the PS3 controller like I do with the helicopters. I tried to set the A-10 to my PS3 controller, but when I try to turn the aircraft while it is on the ground, it hardly turns. How do I make it turn as sharp as it does with the keyboard? Because it does not turn correctly or sharp enough with the PS3 controller setup, my wing gets caught on things lol! Maybe someone has a picture that maps out their controls for the A-10 with a controller?
DaveP 66 Posted December 30, 2010 I believe that on the ground the Yaw axis is used to turn, rather than roll
AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 I'm not sure if I understand. This is how I would like to set it up. Right Analog Stick: Controls the nose whether I want to go up or down. Left Analog Stick: Controls whether I want to turn the plane left or right. But when I map "Turn Left" and "Turn Right" to my analog stick, it hardly turns at all, but if I map it to my keyboard, it turns just fine. I was able to get it in the air, and the nose up and down control worked just fine, but the turn controls don't turn fast enough in the air like it does when I use a keyboard. AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 Anyone? It doesn't make sense that it would work fine with the keyboard, but only work half way with the controller.
Cyteless 10 Posted December 30, 2010 You'll need to set up separate controls for turning left and right, like Dave said. IIRC, the controls for turning on ground are X and C on your keyboard, which are your Yaw flaps, whereas when you're in the air, you use the roll of the plane to turn, being A and D. AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 Okay, I will give it a shot. Sorry, I did not fully understand what the first guy was saying.
AnimalMother92 10 Posted December 30, 2010 Does the PS3 controller work with helos just plug n play? Or is there configuration needed? I've never tried it out.
AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 I need to set up the controls.
Millenium7 0 Posted December 31, 2010 your controls sound funky to me. I set left stick (360 controller but same thing) to pitch up/down and roll left/right Right stick to freelook left shoulder button to yaw left right shoulder button to yaw right The last 2 are what you want, forgot exactly what its called in the options but its not the 'turn left/right' option
wolfbite 8 Posted December 31, 2010 I set rudder left/right to r2 l2 use those for ground maneuvres

The 'turn left/right' command is just a combination of roll and yaw, it only yaws when the aircraft is at low speed, and it only rolls when at high speed. Because of the analog inputs the game is probably only using roll and not yaw. You should be ignoring the turn left/right command and instead mapping directly to bank/roll and yaw

Millenium7 0 Posted January 1, 2011 ok just look a look at controls, bank left/right is obviously to bank and is used for flying at high speed left/right pedal is the yaw, and is used primarily at low speed, map those to the shoulder buttons
