infiltrator_2k 29 Posted December 16, 2010 My 4 year old daughter recently challenged me to running race on the Wii Fit. Now, it's fair to say I've put on a bit of middle aged spread, not to mention a few pounds since a recent hernia op - but there I am with the wii's sensor in my hand running on the spot trying to keep steady consistant rhythm whilst simutaneously keeping an eye on my wii character running the virtual race. Before you know I'm blowing through my rectum and working up a sweat as the competitiveness takes hold :o within a few minutes I cross the finish line with the harsh reminder how fit I'm not :o Then it's got me thinking: "My god! Imagine ArmA2 adopts a motion sensor controller  Can you imagine that!!!
larsiano 12 Posted December 16, 2010 I dont know much about motion sensors from the consoles but Arma2 has great support for something called TrackIR. This Hardware motion sensor tool adds a great fealing to the game and for a 33 year old like me it will take years of getting used to (hardware also might not be as flexible as it could be). I should make a video on my own showing how nice it can be to use one but there are some demo;s online already: (it is even Arma2 nr1 youtube video (by dslexyi))

I initially had a bit of trouble configuring it to my liking, but now I have it's a must have for me!
larsiano 12 Posted December 16, 2010 Ah i forgot to read your footnote. But looking at this Wii jumppad thing how would you like to see this implimented in the game?:bounce3:
SteveJA 12 Posted December 16, 2010 HAhA that would be great, you can only run as far as you can lol, so if you go up a hill the tread mill raises in steepness, and when you load up you have to put that gear on thier back (simulated of corse not actual magazines lol) This is the solution to Fat problems and would just go to show what our soldiers (well some haha) have to do. Speaking as someone currently training to try and get into para reg, i know that i would still fail at doing most, if not all, of the things they have to go through haha
liquidpinky 11 Posted December 16, 2010 Sounds interesting but do I have to break my own legs when my chute fails to spawn when I para jump?
SteveJA 12 Posted December 16, 2010 /\ No in this case you have to climb to the top of your house and jump off onto the treadmill, so that other players can see a realistic death animation :)
Chill xl 10 Posted December 16, 2010 I hooked up a Wii controller with motion plus to my pc and mapped it to be compatible with Arma 2 and i have to say it works pretty well. First i made Glovepie script that used the gyroscopes for general movement, quick looking around and the IR sensor for senstitive aiming. After much tweaking and testing i was able to come up with a script that used the gyros / motionplus sensors only, both precise and quick. Most of the buttons on the Wiimote and nunchuck. Several combo's are needed to get the most important functionality accesable. This controller setup can be used in a relaxed sitting position, even on the couch. Ive tested so much different controllers and i like to do it differently, i have to admit though the mouse + kb combo still rules...
SteveJA 12 Posted December 16, 2010 Surely this /\ doesnt beat running for hours when you die in warfare right?

SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted December 16, 2010 Exercise? I think this would be more fitting with the in game hookers. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=2ff_1292478959
mr burns 133 Posted December 16, 2010 Then it's got me thinking: "My god! Imagine ArmA2 adopts a motion sensor controller  Can you imagine that!!! No need to imagine that, as it´s already been done. Theres proof of concept realized by ViconX & myself in ArmA1: Then someone far more mad than us went and rigged it properly to an airsoft rifle, plus using some dance mat for movement! :D German Forum Thread + his pics & YT videos: http://hx3.de/litfasssaeule-168/arma-2-wiimote-controller-18608/
infiltrator_2k 29 Posted December 16, 2010 It could work with ArmA2 via a USB motion sensor like Xbox's Kinect :)
