Warfare mode - yes I searched the forums

Recommended Posts

How can we play Superpower or Warfare mode on the new OA maps? I tried d/l Benny Edition but over LAN can't add any buildings as commander. It's my undertanding you have to create a dedicated server for which my PC run out of memory when launching a server and the client at the same time (6gb of RAM).

All I want to do is play Superpower or Warfare mode on the new OA maps (not missions style, me against the AI in sandbox or sector control). Is this possible? I have spent 5+ hours trying to find and answer and am getting no where. Any links/help/direction would be appreciated and yes I've search the forums over and over and over.

There's two BIS warfare missions on Takistan. Called Mountain Warfare I believe. It's the three sides warfare though.

If you are having problems in Warfare BE, post here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=82201

Bumped as I am looking for the same

I was afraid to ask this question cause I know the majority would say use the search. I still can't find a clear answer anywhere either. Is there no mode I can play me against the computer with base building on both sides? It seems in CTI mode I build a base and capture town but the computer AI never shows up anyway, I just fight insurgents in the town, not much fun or challange after you get a little money.

If that's the case you're doing something wrong. I can run server and client very nicely on the same machine and I only have 4gb.

Open the mission in the mp editor, transfer the files needed for the mission to a new mission you create in OA, and then leave OA editor open,

and turn on markers, and transfer whats on the Arma2 version to OA, you wont be able to copy n paste, so just mimic whats on the map,

it might take a little time.

Although it might not work because the classes from Arma2 are obviously different then OA's, so what you'll need to do is find the

class list for OA's stuff, and same for the Arma2 version, and also find them in the scripts of the mission and swap them out.

it should work.

In general if your were moving a mission built on lets say Arma2, and wanted to move that same mission to another island but still in Arma2

then all you would do is the same I mentioned above but just copy n paste, it does work.

Where are the OA Warfare buildings in the editor?

Everything works for me, except when I place a warfare building like a barracks or a vehicle factory, it is the regular ARMA2 one, not the OA one, even though I am in the editor in either Combined Operations or Operation Arrowhead.

I have a one-town warfare co-op mission where once you capture the town from the resistance, you win. I want the base already built, so all players have to do is gather enough cash to my whatever toy they want.

Anyone know where the OA-style Warfare buildings can be found, or how to get the game to recognize them as OA?

@Günter Severloh, The only problem is that most of scripts are not in mission but ca and such addon files. It would be nice if somekind of full template for warfare would be released with the rest of MP templates.

I dont know about OA, I have everything up to Arma2, but in Arma2 they are under units,

in the list of things to pick from it says warfare buildings.

@11aTony

I use this script that creates a template for you.

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9465

I think what you can do is create a mission in OA, just place a player, then basically mimic what is in the Arma2 demo mission,

and then transfer all the scripts to the folder of the mission you made for the OA mission.

I'm not sure about the class names for OA, so what you could do is swap out the class names in the mission itself (not the editor the sqm)

the sqm opens up with armaedit, and you can change the name in there.

Not sure if it would work as I have not done it, only thing I have done related to that is make remove the addon dependancy from a mission.

Any idea what I have to do to get Warfare buildings that are placed in the editor to function?

Thanks for the reply (both of you). It turns out that having regular Arma2 Warfare buildings versus OA buildings has nothing to do with the problem I am having...

I use the same (awesome) package, lkwarfare - BIS Warfare Module, and have made several fully functional Warfare missions, from one-town Opfor/Blufor wars with only a few players per side, to Warfare co-op missions where capturing the town wins the mission. However, the problem comes in when I place Warfare buildings in the editor, rather than build the base using the mobile HQ.

Buildings that are placed in the editor do not function. The windows for buying the units or vehicles comes up, and all the items and costs are there, but buying something will not do anything. No money is deducted, and nothing happens, except the item's name moving into the right-side pane with it's time to completion. But it never actually does anything. If I build the base the normal way, using the mobile HQ and building each building in-mission, everything works just fine.

I will be releasing a pack of 1-town warfate missions soon, both in Takistan and Chernarus. Making your own is fairly easy to do once you have a template to use. I am using a pack called LK-Warfare that i downloaded from Armaholic. Here is the link:

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9465

It has all the necessary scripts and in game elements, just copy and paste, resize, add or remove elements, up to you. I also tweaked the config to increase the supply rate and made the payoff equal to the cost of the unit killed. If you are interested in playing these missions while we are playtesting and tweaking the config, or want me to hook you up with Lucik's pack I am using to make them, PM me. Or, preferably, add me on xfire (tom43491) or Steam (tom4349)

Warfare with only 1 town to fight over is intense, and great for smaller numbers of players! I will be starting on 2-3 town missions after I finish and release the one town pack. :)

Just saw that i had already posted in this thread a while ago, but I have made a lot of progress since that post! lol

Nice..(or is that word used up?)

Anyhow, Superpowers and Diplomacy are great with proper parameters for such 1st town battles.

I'm looking forward to your release. :)
