AlienXXI 10 Posted November 27, 2010 Steam no longer is doing the Thanksgiving sale? I checked their prices yesterday and the Arrowhead version was 19.99 US dollars, but now it is back up to 39.99 US dollars. I thought the sale was supposed to last until the 29th? Macadam Cow 1 Posted November 27, 2010 (edited) It's not steam but sprocket, Bohemia Interactive's online store. Just click on the banner in the upper right of this forum Edited November 27, 2010 by Macadam Cow

gossamersolid 155 Posted November 27, 2010 Steam for ArmA 2 blows anyways. They get patches late and have more issues than us. Get the sprocket version.
maturin 12 Posted November 28, 2010 Whew. Glad I bought it yesterday then.

Smurf 12 Posted November 28, 2010 I do? Don´t you have to download 2GB+ for every new 300mb patch? Using mods or launching CO without a launcher is more complicated and you have to run Steam to play (sometimes takes a lot of times do Steam connect and run)
vohk 10 Posted November 28, 2010 Don´t you have to download 2GB+ for every new 300mb patch?Using mods or launching CO without a launcher is more complicated and you have to run Steam to play (sometimes takes a lot of times do Steam connect and run) The patching I grant you. That one is a very poor design on someone's part. Very strange how it only affects certain games. Using mods is no different than retail- same launch parameters, different box to put them in. Limited characters for said parameters isn't that big of a deal and is more of a game design flaw then a Steam issue (Having a built in data file selector ala Fallout3 would be very nice..). Launching CO can be done via a launcher, batch file, or just clicking the "Launch ArmA2: Combined Operations" option in Steam. Real hard. You do have to run Steam, yes, but that also allows you to use the Steam overlay/friends list/etc. If you like Steam, it's a pro; if you hate it, it's a con. You also don't need to have Steam running if you use a beta. I can honestly say I have noticed very few issues Steam users had that retail ones didn't, and most of those were due to 'whoopsies' on BI's part in converting versions. I don't have anything against Sprocket, but it's really time to start toning down the hate-on for Steam..

None.
Smurf 12 Posted November 28, 2010 Yes that 2 gigs every 3-5 months is so horrible... When the speed's peak its about 50kb\s, it is. Dunno why it only happens to A2 in every single mirror. I don't have anything against Sprocket, but it's really time to start toning down the hate-on for Steam.. I don´t hate Steam (with those special promotions and features, who could?) and have no problem with it, except with the patches or when he refuse\take a long time do connect or launch a game. But some clan members had a hard time using CO+Mods (until they used a launcher).
Steakslim 1 Posted November 28, 2010 To be honest i've been using Launchers since ArmA1. I find it easier to manage in the long run when you start running a bunch of addons.
