Tatra 815-7

Oh... That MAZ is something I'd really would like someone to take on...

How much work does it still need? Is it UVmapped yet?

Hello, I would like to take on all of these unfinished vehicles  But I can start working on them only after Christmas. Gonna send you a PM Jarinator90.

Ah, damn, and I thought I'd manage to convince the rest of the RHS team to take this MAZ... Seems you were faster, cholera ;/

Ah, whetever, the tag is not important; glad there's a chance to bring it to the game. Would be happy if you Skyped when you start texturing it ;)

I didn't expect such an interest in that. :459: But I have to warn you - that MAZ is already quite hipoly model - now it has over 20k vertices and that tochka is about half of that. On MAZ is quite lot of work to do. Tochka needs interior and gvozdika is 95% done. None of them are UV mapped.

If you could convince the RHS team it would be great because it would take some work off me, if they would take on the MAZ just let me know :ok:

Don't worry about it everything will be done.

Well, this would be understandable if it was 'just another BMP' or something... What we have here is something that could counterbalance the US logistic addonpack being worked on at the moment and provide the OPFOR with (for example) tank transport ability

Models sent to -Martin- and zGuba. Hope I will see them soon ingame...

I have to contact zGuba so we don't work on the same model and then release exactly the same thing.

Progress is veeery slow now. You know, I have to focus on semestral exams. I hope I could come back to it very soon.

EDIT: Something happened to my buldozer: If there is some part of the model mapped, nothing will show in buldozer. Not mappped lods are OK...

Hello everone!

I'm here to tell you, that this project is not dead, last few months however wasn't good time for modelling to me. (Exams, new semestre start, firearms licence :D ...). But now I've found some free time to finish the models. Only last few tweaks remaining. However the textures are one big problem to me, the more I'm trying the less I'm satisfied, I'll probably never be able to make at least "nice" texture so I decided to finish the models and ask one of you to help mi with this. If someone of you are interested, please let me know, I would really appreciate it.

I'm glad that you're making progress on this, for a moment I thought you got kid napped by the STB because you were quiet so long

Anyway, send me some screenshots of how the textured models look and some textures in PM, and I will have a look at it and see what can be improved. Maybe we can even make some civilian Tatra's for construction sites too etc...

Unfortunately, I've deleted them (thanks God, they've been scarying me). I dont even have mapeed the whole model, I've mapped only the cabin on one of them and was "trying". I'm not very good friend with Photoshop, maybe if i could find some good tutorial, how to make realistic looking texture, it would be alright but only thing i found was soul assassins tut, but It's more the guide how to put all texture maps together.

BTW: Do you know how to map the model in Blender automaticaly? I mean with some useful result...

Look for some tutorials outside of the ArmA community, once you get the hang of it its pretty easy.

A good tutorial site that I can recommend is this, I've used it a few times my self:

http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials

A good texturing tutorial that might help you:

http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/create-a-realistic-looking-mailbox-using-3ds-max-and-uv-layout-day-3/

(Watch videos #2 and #3, its very detailed and excellent to get you started.)

There is also help on UV mapping in 3DS in day 2 of that tutorial if your interested.

BTW: Do you know how to map the model in Blender automaticaly? I mean with some useful result...

Well, I don't use Blender so I can't help there, you can search Youtube for some tutorials or you can always UV the model in O2, might be easier, I find it pretty easy.

Good luck and keep us informed on your progress.

Well let's try...

until now, I was trying to use these tuts:

http://ofp.gamepark.cz/desert/tutorial_02cz.htm

http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/forum37-photoshop-tutorials/

not a single useful result...

I had a look at the tutorials you've been using, the first one on ofp.gamepark.cz is almost useless, unless your familiar with photoshop very well already because it doesn't provide any pictures of how the effect is achieved or what to do to create screws or those metal plates for example, try to look for video tutorials they are the best for this, the only thing that I find useful there for you as the author mentioned himself is to download the .PDS at the end and explore it in photoshop, play with it a little or even use some bits of it in your own texture.

As for this:

jsem zhotovil fiktivní texturu (nestojím o to, aby byla bez práce použita v některém z nových addonů)

The kolobok says it all: facepalm.gif

BTW: First It was:

That's awesome, I would say that Tatras are even better then Russian trucks, I hope it will be possible to load the BMP in ArmA 2 like that :D

Also to give you a tip, for UV maps of large areas like the cabin use textures at least 1024x1024 pixels big, I always use 2048x2048.

I'm sure, missionmakers will manage the "loading" somehow...

Its quite easy to attach vehicles in ArmA 2 using the AttachTo command, but it doesn't work well for vehicles because their wheels/tracks turn when the main vehicle starts moving.

It might be a good idea to have a custom attach script with this addon, just look for some OFP or ArmA addons with such a script and use it :ok: So when you drive a tank you can attach it trough the action menu without any fiddeling in the editor.

Talk to Norrin, he created the cargo script used in NZDFCrash's C-130s.

It loads them, and completely disables the wheels/input etc. while the vehicle is in cargo.

Alright, I've tried some of the techniques shown in video and this is the result:

http://img140.imageshack.us/f/screen1je.jpg/

So? What do you think??

Hmm I think that its a excellent start, but the green colour is too light, take a look at this picture:

http://www.military-today.com/trucks/tatra_t815.jpg

See how dark green it is? Load this picture in to photoshop, use the colourpicker tool to get exactly the same colour and then use it on your texture.

Also remember that this is a army vehicle, think of the terrain that it drives trough, you need to make lots of mud, dust and water stains, add some scratches, some wear to the corners and also some rust in the places where water would be likely to stay for long periods of time.

Show us some more pictures of how you get along :ok:

Next color sample coming!

I've played a bit with the hue and saturation mask and I think I've get the right color.

Based on this image: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/2507/cn05.jpg

was made this:

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/8025/screen2fx.jpg

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/6951/screen3mf.jpg

EDIT: Mud and dirt will be done as next. But It's more complicated to make it look real then I've thought...

Detail, scratches and stuff look excellent now :ok: Also the normals map and shaders will make it looks better in game, but the colour still needs some tweaks but it looks much better now, I would leave this until you test the model in game and see how it looks.

Good luck with the mud.

Looking good though you have some serious over saturationg going on there. This color might be able to help, a sort of olive/grey/brown tinge depending on how you long you stare at it.

R 86

G 84

B 79

#56544f

It may need more greying however, the above is more of an olive drab.
