Is there a huey obssesion?

Is it my imagination or are people CONSTANTLY asking for a huey, or pimping their own or other peoples huey models. I swear to god there is going to end up being about 8 or 9 separate huey models and people are going to get confused in making missions. Hmm now i have 9 different hueys, all relatively the same. Which one shall I use today?

I will answer this very simply: YES there is a Huey obsession. The black hawk does the same damn job, and better, yet everyone still wants a chopper that was fielded decades earlier.

Personally i think the culprit is Vietnam films. Seems like every modeller in the world is pooling his or her resources to make a Huey. I think it would be great to see some more units that only a handful of us have ever seen or heard of. Nothing like originality.

all LordZach wants is some ww2 stuff..but nooo...nobody ever watches SPR or anything, just platoon or FMJ (which i don't even think the UH-1 was in)

Maybe Blackhawk Down changed that somewhat, but the Huey is the 'vette of the choppers, something everyone wants even though everyone knows its crap.

someone made a M40 but i think it was an A1, nice model and everything, but somehow it had 15 rounds and a huge zoom scope but nothing a little trip to notepad can't fix.

Yeah, I don't get this Huey obsession myself. It's nice and all, but does it do anything the UH-60 doesn't? But I guess if there is a big enough demand for it (which apparently there is), every man and his dog is going to make their own version.

Lord Zach, I'm with you on the M40. Is that the silenced one you are referring to? I was going to try and edit it, but haven't got around to it yet...

My name is [insert anything] and I've started a new MOD for ofp. It's called Huey-mod and will have many Hueys in it.

I'm looking for model makers, skinners, mission designers, scripters, etc. as all I have is the name for the mod and I need some people to join the team and make the whole mod.

I can't understand why nobody is bitching about the lack of AH-6J Little Bird gunships. They would be excellent in OFP for close anti infantry support.

I know. The MH6 carries 6 guys who can fast rope out. THe AH6 version has 2 7.62mm 6barreled gattling guns firing at 100rounds per second with every 6th round being a tracer. Also in the standard AH loadout is 7 Air to Ground rockets. That kinda firepower would kick ass to a damn Browning .50

yeah that's the one. i can edit it very easily, but i don't think the author would like it very much plus a silener would look kinda dumb on an unsilenced weapon

I know a reputable chap that hasa lovely little bird model made up and im sure it will look great in OFP. There are qutie a few popel that have made/making them, but I guess they jsut havent said anything about it yet.

I was going to leave it silenced, but cut down the range, accuracy and stopping power quite a lot.

And I would never take credit for work that wasn't my own, I was going to modify it for personal use (or for anyone who specifiaclly asked for it, but I wouldn't change the credits or try to claim it as my own).

All I want to see is a Mi-2 Hoplite so mission designers can have a comparable helicopter for the russians to the UH60MG, and don't put blackhawks in for the russians.

BTW what is up with the warped rotor modeling on the UH60?

People want Huey because they feel personally attached to it from watching so many 'Nam movies. I can tell you this much though, once a good Huey is finally released, you'll fly it once or twice, then realize it doesn't really matter as it's very much like the Blackhawk, only older and slower.
