Sky999 10 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) I've noticed this in every custom mission I make in the editor. The enemy seem completely reluctant to actually fire their weapons. In the campaign and single player missions, they actually seem to fight with some tenacity, but for me it's like they don't want to fight. I set up a test mission, where a squad of blufor commanded by the player move towards a village full of independants (set to friendly to opfor) and decided to tell all my men to hold fire, and stroll up to the enemy in line formation. We lost about one guy before we actually got a foot away from the enemy. I don't understand why this is happening. It's not a matter of them being independant, like I said, I've set them to friendly to opfor, and this also seems to happen when I'm facing opfor units. They just don't seem to want to fire back for some reason. I'd get a few occasional shots, but they were far and few between. The entire scene just ended in a farce, with my squad lined up, about 20 feet away from 8-10 insurgents with AKs, while they ducked and dove, with only firing about a shot every 25 seconds or so. This was a situation where, had they been firing like normal people, my squad would have been wiped out. Instead I ended up basically lining up and saying, "here we are, shoot us!" and the enemy lay still, maybe firing a shot....but more often than not...not. To put a clear picture of what's happening. I'll approach the enemy, enage, then they'll go prone, maybe fire a shot every now and then, and then end up being wiped out. Is there any reason for this happening? Like I said, it only seems to happen in the editor. The enemy in BIS missions actually fight, but for some reason with me, it's like they've lost the will to. Edited October 17, 2010 by Sky999
kyfohatl 10 Posted October 17, 2010 Maybe you're setting their skills as too low? You know, the skill bar for every unit... maybe your setting it to too low? Becuase this doesn't happen to me. Also, one more thing that I've noticed: The higher the rank of the squad leader, the more effective everyone in the squad fights. Maybe their squad leader is a "private"? I'm not sure if this is actually a feature, but I've found that I have a much harder time defeating a squad lead by a liutenant than a private (once I remember an OPFOR squad, lead by a major, and whose members were all sargents [about 6 of them] manged to hold out agains the assault of my entire unit, consisting of one APC, one armed car and 25 or so infantre units. AZCoder 921 Posted October 17, 2010 I've not seen that either. Either your blufor are just really scary dudes that kill enemy morale on sight, or it might be a mod you're using, such as Zeus, GL4, SLX, or possibly ACE2. If you have mods, try scenario with vanilla game, then we will know :)
Sky999 10 Posted October 17, 2010 Absolutely no mods are being used. It's completely vanilla. So was the test I did. I'd love to know why they are so unagressive.
callihn 10 Posted October 17, 2010 I trained them that way, it's easier on them if they just give up.
AZCoder 921 Posted October 17, 2010 Hehe, wow that's nuts. If you make them 100% skilled killers, are they still afraid to engage?
