When i connect to a server the lobby is blank

Hey!!

When i connect to a server the lobby is blank,most of the time!! i can still see the server control tab etc but i cant see any player names or sides. when i press ok, it goes to receiving data... then it'l bring up an error like; script not found: common\common_no base.sqf (not exact) or it will state, mur_mp.takistan\blueflag.jpg not found.

sometimes il be able to join a server, mostly deathmatch or hold types. but startin to play im already falling thru the air miles high! or im already on the floor dead and cannot respawn.

this has only started happening since yesterday! I have arma2/oa/and baf dlc installed. i unistalled em 3 times now. reinstalled my os twice! but still the same thing. my connection is really good at the moment so its not lack of power there!

other than my connection improving over the last few days nothing has changed on my pc. really only use it for arma lol

specs are:

i7 920

gtx 275 1892mb

6gb ddr3 ocz

but i have been playing arma2 for ages on this rig so WTF! :confused:

Im running win7 x64 and a Gigabyte ex58-ud3r mobo btw. always worked fine before tho.

SCRIPT COMMON\COMMON_INITUNIT.SQF NOT FOUND. thats the msg i get when it says receiving data. Does anyone know of a fix? or even where i could find that file on my discs!

your missing a sqf script in your mission from the looks of it.

you are trying to connect to a public server, or a server of your own you hosted, or a gameserver you rent?

Need more details, is this an official mission you are trying to play, or are you just trying to connect to a

server and pick a mission, if your just picking a mission that error wouldn't come up til you have chosen a mission.

If the error is coming up, like i said that Sqf which is a script file is missing, and it seems like it has to

do with units hence UNIT.SQF the script is trying to initilize a units or something like that to be used in a mission,

that about what i'm understanding here.

Is your game patched?

you dont need to uninstall and reinstall, just install and patch your game, you always

have to patch the game, start with that if you have not done so already.

also this topic belongs in the mp section, mp related posts are abound there with similer issues,

i suggest doing a search in the future for issues, search first then post if you cannot find an answer

I have absolutely same issue as Gawdamit. Lobby screen is blank.

This problem occurs when I connect to the public server where the custom mission has already started and 5-50 players are playing without any issues.

When I connect to the public server and appear in the lobby screen I do not see any roles (slots). I do not see the name of the mission. Nothing but standard buttons in the lower part of lobby screen. If I press “OK†I can connect to the mission (but have error same as described in above posts). I am in game. I can see the score board. However I can not play because I have not chosen the role (game slot).

Troubles started after I patched 1.54. I had No such troubles before. My game runs smoothly. I have no troubles with internet connection.

What I already tried to fix the problem (but it did not helped):

- complete reinstallation of ARMA2 + ARMA2 OA

- missions_e.pbo file fix

- deleted player profiles, created new profile

- cleaned missions cash

- tried to run the game on the lowest graphics settings

- Some guys advised me to add the string "minBandwidth=16000;" (8к, 16к, 24к, 32к, 64к, 128k) to the file "ArmA2OA.cfg". Because they say something is wrong with bandwidth in the latest ARMA2 patches. But this also did not help.

Go the same "error", the beta does not help. Yesterday, this problem appeared to me for the first time. Thought it was the installation of the beta files ^^ Complete Reinstall did not help a thing.

I did not play for about a week. The only thing I changed in my setup was the upgrade of the Amd Catalyst 10.8 from version 10.7. But even a rollback of the drivers had no effect in the issue.

also make sure that you are not on Lan when you et to mp and are looking for servers,

and also make sure that your antvirus, firewall, gamespy, ect., aren't blocking.

Just run arma 2 alone and play a single player mission for example quit the game then launch combined operations then you ll never get that probleme again

HMM... May be there is some "special" way of installation of ARMA2 and OA ?

I simply installed ARMA2 to C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 folder

And then installed ARMA2 OA to the same folder.

Thanks for cooperation. But this method does not work for me.

what I already have tried additionally:

- I already downloaded from www.battleeye.com file "BEClient.dll" and put it into C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Expansion\BattlEye directory

- I switched off antivirus

- I switched off Win Vista Brandmauer (no firewall)

- I am connecting to the server from MP screen "internet" (not "LAN")

update after some testing

note: I have "blank lobby screen issue" not on each server.

I found out that I *may* connect to some public servers which have no addons.

I have only one addon - "CF Mod". But many other people who are using this addon have no problems. Therefore the "CF Mod" is not a problem.

Another strange thing is that I was *able* to play on my usual public server which requires "CF Mod" yeaster day. And I can not do the same thing today.

May be there are some issues related to Win Vista securities settings? Some ports should be manually opened or something?

When i joined a server earlier that was running gossamers wafare 2.07? the lobby loaded as it should and the mission/description/map part at the top of the lobby was normal too.. as in it had text in it. But when i went to continue to play on the server it brought up an error CAWheeled_D_BAF was deleted. iv checked my baf addon folder and it is there.

could it be the new multiplayer lobby? i cant remember if it actually stoped working before the new GUI for the lobby or afterward!

But the simple fact that more than 1 person has experienced these problems may mean its non user related.

Ive reinstalled my os several times 2 different versions too.

edit.. when i try arma 2 1.07 even with the old lobby the problem remains. (forgot bout that )

I still have not found a fix for the problem.

Although one good thing has come from it all... ive discovered 'Insurgency'.

What a great mission type. I can play on alot of servers that run that mission. Still no cti tho :eek:

Blank lobby screen issue.

I would like to come back to this issue. May be the following information may help to reveal the problem.

When I join many ARMA2 public servers the lobby screen is OK (i.e. mission name, slots are visible). Lobby screen information is shown immediately.

But when I join my favorite server with 1-2 players I got a delay. It means, Lobby screen information is shown not immediately but in 20 seconds. It means that for some reason the lobby screen information is downloading slowly. It seems that something is blocking the incoming data.

When I join my favorite server with 10-70 players I just can not receive lobby screen information. Even after 20 minutes the lobby screen is still blank.

It should be noted that I have a low ping to my favorite server - just 57ms.

I would like to repeat that the above issue appeared after 1.54 patch.

I installed the game “for all usersâ€

I run Win Vista as administrator

Also I switched off in Windows control panel the function of control of user profiles

I do not have “steam†version of the game.

I also run the game as admin. the version of arma that i posses is 505. Non steam.

I could take screens of the problems that i encounter, might help?

I have baf dlc installed. but when i try to join some servers it'l say im missing the pbo's for baf.

BAF and OA are both bought and dl'd from sprocket idea. It really is an odd problem, if i install arma 2 and patch it fully to 1.07 then procede to try to play it online. i get the exact same problem im getting with OA and Baf.

thats arma 2 installed after a format of my HDD btw, without OA or baf installed.

i also usualy have a low ping to servers 69ms-ish. it was normally 109ms-130?ms before this problem started. although i think my connection got better a day before arma became a rebel :rolleyes:

The issue is occur not on any server.

May be it is a bandwidth problem?

What I mean: no issue if low quantity of players are playing on server. Issue exists if large quantity of players are playing on server.

If I understand correctly, since new patches certain corrections have been made with respect to bandwidth?

Before the patch I was able to connect without problems to servers with 50-60 players.
