VerySolidSnake 0 Posted May 1, 2002 When the new desert island came rolling about, i remember seeing this one screenshot this guy took off his computer. the helis and soldiers were extremly detailed, with more detailed lines and everything. He then explained how to do it. I remember it was something like changing the settings of the LOD or something, i can't remember though. Anyone know what i'm takling about? ralphwiggum 6 Posted May 1, 2002 you must have meant Satchel... his Apache skins are his own, which looks a lot better. But yeah, he did tweak something....sorry i don't know either. the topic was about island from OFinternals and their new isle by their own wrpedit
dayglow 2 Posted May 1, 2002 You need a nvidia card. If you do then get a tweak program ( I use rivatuner) and go into textures. You need to lower the LOD bias of the textures down to -1.3 to -1.5. Also if you can set the digital vibrance then turn it up. This will make OFP look better. COLINMAN
VerySolidSnake 0 Posted May 1, 2002 when u say textures, (in rivatuner), is that in the directx area of it? mine's default is

FetishFool 0 Posted May 1, 2002 I just got RivaTuner. I found the LOD bias, but I couldn't find where to set the Digital Vibrance. What else can I do to make my graphics sharper? And how high are these risks of doing this?
Major Fubar 0 Posted May 1, 2002 I thought when asked about the high quality of his screenshot, Satchel explain that he simply had all his settings on max, and (the main thing) he had view distance set really high (5000?). And yeah, where are those Apache Skins?
ralphwiggum 6 Posted May 1, 2002 Satchel seems to be reluctant to realease the cool-skinned because he is afraid of possible flaws..i also remember him saying that he is busy...

You should also try different levels of anisotropic filtering, which helps clean up texture artifacts. The Digital Vibrance feature isn't available on all NVIDIA cards. For example, the GeForce2 GTS cards don't support it, while the GeForce2 MX cards all do, I believe. It is in the color adjustment section that has an icon with a multi-colored monitor. The default is zero, but slide down some more (not too far because what will happen is that the textures will aliase and look rough, you have to find a balance, around -1.3 for me ) What this does is forces the mipmapping to use higher detail textures further away with a drop in performance. You can move into the positive and it will blur closer textures, but speed things up as well. Also click on the ?mark beside the close box in the top right hand corner and click on any function in Rivatuner and a popup help will tell you what it does. The only thing to remember is that it gives the colours more pop, so if you are working on digital photos or art the colours won't represent what they will print like, so be forwarned. Mister Frag 0 Posted May 1, 2002 Digital Vibrance came out with the GeForce2 MX, I believe. Since the regular GeForce2 / GeForce2 GTS pre-date the MX series, they don't have it. The feature has been supported in subsequent cards, including all GeForce3 and GeForce4 cards.

FetishFool 0 Posted May 1, 2002 Hey thanks for all the help, guys. Digital Vibrance wasn't in RivaTuner, but I found it in the desktop properties. I turned it up, and realized how many shades of red Shakira REALLY has in her hair. And another thing. How do I know that I overclocked my GF3 too much? I put it to 240/500, then when I tested it, my screen turned black for a second.
VerySolidSnake 0 Posted May 1, 2002 i did find the digital vibrance in RivaTuner, but it took me awhile to find. It was in the same area with Contrast and Brightness.
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 1, 2002 If you check previous messages in this thread, you'll see that the exact location of the Digital Vibrance controls in RivaTuner was mentioned.

(artefact, white snow, crashing is a sure sign of too much) With an GF3 and standard cooling, you should be able to safely o/c to 245/545, even higher, but then above signs will show up. To find out, what your card can do without errors, increase core clock in 1mhz steps and memory clock in 5mhz steps (until you know the limits, do not increase both together)
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 1, 2002 You can also try Artifact Tester, which generates graphics and then checks the output for missing pixels etc. -- this beats having to look at the graphics yourself to see if they are corrupted somewhere on the screen. timmy 0 Posted May 1, 2002 when i put up the digital vibrance, it makes the desktop really bright. Is there anyway i can just make this come on in the game?

NVMax also gives you control over Digital Vibrance, and its Preset feature lets you run a program after loading video presets -- you could thus load a profile that uses the desired level of Digital Vibrance, and have it load OFP immediately afterwards.
