Locking some Windows functions (like ALT+Tab or ALT+F4)?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I have a question about something that you all noticed already perhaps.

You watch around, see unit 4, want to tell him something - so you Press also F4. What happens? Windows kills your ArmA Process.

Or you're in your A10 - doing a turn - and in the meantime you watch back, and want to select next Target. You got it, while flying, you get out of ArmA and right into your desktop.

Is it somehow possible, to stop this functions in Windows? Or how do you all handle this?

Yes +1. This should also apply to windows shortcuts, winkey+L = lock screen for example.

My G11 has a switch to deactivate windows keys. I'm fairly confident you can tell windows to deactivate these hotkeys aswell by itself though? :)

no way. I like my alt+tab.

the ALT+F4 is stupid, you learn not to do that after a couple of times. Even if I might have done this myself a few times, I don't want it removed... This is how I close my game down when I want 90% of the time.

Like the above post says, just find an external way of disabling them.

I'd like ArmA II to have a toggleable option of disabling windows functions, especially Alt+F4 is really annoying to me. Especially that unit 4 is a field medic in ArmA II campaign, so when I'm looking around while wounded and I try to select him to see where he is, game closes. That almost got me killed at one point.

change the freelook button to something different than ALT? isn't that easier than forcing lock of alt-tab(which a lot of us uses?)

You could try Winlock, for the windows key there are .reg files from Microsoft to completely disable (and enable) here.

When my system is locked up I prefer to use Alt+F4 to shut down ArmA2 and OA.
