Moerderhoschi 107 Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) hello guys, The AH-64 is one of the best Attackhelicopters in the world, well armored with strong firepower and selfdefense capabilities. but why don't have the AH-64 Models in ArmA II and OA no Air to Air Missiles? I wish BIS would make a update of the AH-64 with some Stingers or Sidewinders. Edited December 5, 2010 by Moerderhoschi
viper[cww] 14 Posted August 11, 2010 in ArmA 2 Evolution game-mode the AH64D has sidewinders :)
nodunit 397 Posted August 11, 2010 The only Apache to actually fly with dedicated anti air is the Japanese longbow, while both US and UK apache's have the option of stinger/sidewinder or starstreak none actuallly use it. most likely this is why they did not include it. gossamersolid 155 Posted August 11, 2010 It's already in ArmA2 under the classname "AH64D_Sidewinders" CfgVehicles reference is really useful : http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA_2:_CfgVehicles
Moerderhoschi 107 Posted August 11, 2010 thank you guys for your help. @GossamerS You've right, there is a Apache with Sidewinders but this one in ArmA 2 carries the Sidewinders in the Hellfire slots, I mean a version with Hellfires, Hydras and Sidewinders/Stingers on the side of the chopper. so that the AH64 version can react at all enemy threats and not only ground or airtargets. like the version in the pic in the first post. I flown such version in the Jane's AH64 D Logow game years ago and thought it would be nice to have the same apache in ArmA II OA today.

Put a few AV8Bs and F-35s above the AH-64...you know in reality they keep the Helos grounded as lomgs as there ar bogies around...thats also the reason why AA weapons are so rare on AH-64sbut in general you're right...4 Stingers on the AH-64 would have been better considering the Kamov-52 can target aircraft with all its 12 AT-16 in game. Moerderhoschi 107 Posted August 11, 2010 yes that's true, the Laserguided AT-16 from Kamov can handle ground and airtargets. but i really miss that "extra" weaponsystem at the apache. I also miss a version with 16 Hellfire rockets. I wonder why BIS has made only one version of this awesome helo. the cobra in ArmA II carry on both sides Sidewinders but why not the apache. It would be fine if BIS make a update of the Apache with different versions.
Inkompetent 0 Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) Guess it depends on the warzone. In neither ArmA2 or OA it is very reasonable for the Apache to get fitted with Stingers/Sidewinders since the likelyhood for A2A threats it can't completely out-dominate with its cannon (I.e. Mi-17s being the only likely enemy aircraft) is very, very low, thus it gets a balanced ground support loadout instead. For user-made scenarios though I do admit it can be needed, so good thing it already exists in the configs ^^ Edited August 11, 2010 by Inkompetent
