  1. ▶ What do you do on Vigor? I am a programmer/Technical animator responsible for putting in and stitching together game animation and movement in Vigor. ▶ What is your contribution to the Vigor Team? My main achievement is the animation graph responsible for playing the right animation at the right time. This in order to make the character feel grounded and as a part of the world Also researching and implementing ways to bring animation quality to the next level. ▶ What do you like about Vigor? The exhilarating feeling you get when you take the airdrop and rush back to extraction. ▶ What do you want to see in Vigor? For the game itself, I would like to see more technically challenging customization items like a trench coat with cloth physics, or a dangling object on a uniform, for example, a talisman. As for animation: Motion matching is all the rage these days. I would love to implement something like that in the future. ▶ What do you do when you are not making Vigor? I love traveling and adventure: Just this winter I managed to get lost in the snowy woods following a bear trail at night, stuck on top of a mountain in a blizzard and going close to 30 hours without sleep through Slovakia. ▶ Did game dev change your view on the games and how? Absolutely, whilst prior to it I was interested in animation and games, it's the experience of creating games that changed my view on how it works and what it takes to get character feel good in the game. Now any third person game I've started up, I first have to dissect the animation technology before I can proceed to enjoy myself playing the actual game ▶ Your favorite games and why? There are many games I like. But if I had to pinpoint one, it'd be Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Whilst the concept is fairly simple: Turn-based strategy where you get a faction and have to defeat all opponents on the map to win. The ways it allows you to achieve this are endless. The game thrives on straining it's mechanics and rewards experimentation while also punishing established conventions. That's what mainly makes me come back to it despite its age. Truly timeless game ▶ What's your favorite music, movie, show, book and why? Music: I listen to a variety of music genres, ranging from Power metal to Folk to Japanese Idol songs I really like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, both the show and manga. A tale spanning through generations and it has been going on for well over 25 years. For books, I usually read self-improvement books. Not too long ago I read Mastery by Robert Greene and it was quite informative ▶ Is there something that you want to say to our community? Thank you for your continuous support. If it sometimes seems like the game is not progressing fast enough, rest assured that internally there's a lot of things changing all the time. These continuous changes are hard to perceive, but one day you wake up and realize the transformation that occurred. ▶ You are Outlander; humanity has fallen. What would you do? Go out in the world and recruit other outlanders to my brotherhood. This will hopefully lead to a grand army of brethren banding together for a just cause (TM Avalanche); a society built upon basic human values. And me at the very center as the leader Bonus Question (from Hidde ) ▶ Name 3 games that blew you away with their animation and why. I'd have to say my number 1 is Dark Souls. For the simple reason of how animation ties in with everything, you do in the game. And the fact I've sunk well over 2000 hours in just the first game alone. The trailer for The Last of Us 2 also blew me away with the motion matching technology that Naughty Dog has implemented. It's absolutely breathtaking. Red Dead Redemption also has a very compelling technology and work done on the animation side. However, I sometimes feel I'm playing the animation rather than the game...
  2. ▶ What do you do on Vigor? I work in the QA department where we try to filter out as many bugs and issues as possible before the game is released. ▶ What is your contribution to the Vigor Team? My contribution should not be visible in the game, as the issues I'm dealing with don't get into the released game. So basically some crazy stuff like flying characters, stuck animations, weird character models and plenty of other things don't happen in the game 🙂 ▶ What do you like about Vigor? What usually brings me most pleasures are long-distance kills. Whether it's by a sniper rifle or just a lucky shot from a pistol it feels rewarding to take someone down by a single long-distance shot. ▶ What do you want to see in Vigor? As few bugs as possible. So the people can play the game without getting annoyed by any issues the game may have. ▶ What do you do when you are not making Vigor? Either spend my time with my girlfriend or my dog, if I have enough time I play other games or one of my guitars. Also when the weather is good, I fly hang-glider over the weekends, and I always like to get a good beer with my friends. ▶ Did game dev change your view on the games and how? Yes, it did. I just found out recently that it takes me more time to fully immerse into any game as I try to see how the devs did it differently from our games etc. Sometimes I catch myself hunting the game's bugs and walking in places where a regular player wouldn't go, but then I realize I'm not working and I should enjoy the game. ▶ Your favorite games and why? Lately, it's Factorio; the whole concept is so well done and overwhelming, it's perfect. However, it feels to me that I'd need another lifetime to play it properly. RPGs - Elder Scrolls series As for shooters, I'm a fan of Counter Strike since 1.5 until today's GO, I still play it occasionally, but my reflexes are getting worse with the years 😞 My favorite console game would still be Silent Hill 2 as I got all the endings except "Dog." ▶ What's your favorite music, movie, show, book and why? I like all kinds of music, so let's pick some favorite artists, even though it's difficult. Electronic: Bonobo Instrumental: A perfect circle and a band which led me to learn to play guitar - System of a down Movies: Tarantino's films and James Wan's horrors (only the ones directed by him) Show: Huge fan of GoT, but also horror series like The Haunting of Hill House and Castle Rock Book: As mentioned - a fan of GoT, and I liked Pillars of the Earth ▶ Is there something that you want to say to our community? Every feedback and the reported issue is highly appreciated. When you encounter anything annoying try not to give up on us, we're doing our best to make the game better. ▶ You are Outlander; humanity has fallen. What would you do? I'd try to return to normal by all means, which would mean finding some community first and joining them. Bonus Question (From Ellen ) ▶ If you would be able to be in a game for a week, what game would you choose and why? Being Dovahkiin in Skyrim! Speak with dragons, fly on them, while hurling flames out of my hands, shouting powerful dragon words and enjoying the Skyrim's scenery while living in this awesome lore. Hell yeah.
  3. ▶ What do you do on Vigor? I work as a producer, overseeing the production and helping wherever I can. ▶ What is your contribution to the Vigor Team? I am currently helping with the planning for the animators for Vigor, make sure that all the wanted animations will be able to be produced on time. In the meantime, I am assisting the video production in helping with the vigor videos. When there are problems in the production between departments, my task is to try to resolve the issue by talking to the departments and come up with a solution in the benefit of the project. Rather than those things I am helping the shelter art production. As Bohemia Interactive has multiple projects and departments, my main focus during work is not 100% on Vigor, but I work with the team every day. ▶ What do you like about Vigor? The fact that you can choose for looting or shootings. My playstyle is more to stay on the background and don’t look for confrontation with other players. And the risk of losing everything gives it a lot more excitement to try to get through the map without getting shot. ▶ What do you want to see in Vigor? More customizations (Neko ears for example) for the characters. But otherwise I would like to see some more ways of progression in the game, we already have the shelter but maybe some items you can upgrade to help you in the matches. ▶ What do you do when you are not making Vigor? Mostly I am wasting my time playing Black Desert Online (not proud of it but it makes me spend time with my friends and guild). But when I am not playing any games, my time goes to fitness, looking at cats and cat pictures and more things about cats, or watching anime. The plan for the future is to visit more of 'world,' small city trips, visiting friends over the continent, in general, see more of the world. ▶ Did game dev change your view on the games and how? Working in production changed my opinion big time. The amount of time that is needed to come up with a plan that is achievable but knowing that the plan can change any second and that the whole production needs to adapt to that is such a big task and stressful. Solving problems in the production state is more difficult than anticipated but is, in the same way, more rewarding. Working in an actual ongoing production makes me realize that this is a job that is pushing my limits of challenges and taking on challenges and that I want to keep doing this. ▶ Your favorite games and why? There are four games that I will always speak very highly of; Limbo, Inside (both by Playdead), Never alone - Kisima Inŋitchuŋa (Upper One Games) and the whole Professor Layton series (Level-5). Puzzle games, in general, is the game genre that I will always go to for games, but the puzzle-platformers that I mentioned are just the high tier of that genre, the gameplay, the looks, the music. Everything falls so perfectly together. And Professor Layton series, I played all the games, and still, they manage to combine a story with the actual puzzle solving. ▶ What's your favorite music, movie, show, book and why? The music genre where I can find myself the most in is Metalcore, Hardcore, Thrash. Because I like this music, in general, it is tough to have some favorite bands there. Random playlist in this genre is what you will find me listening. In this genre you will see me going to concerts and festivals and even supporting these festivals, Ieperfest ( http://www.ieperfest.com ) is one of the festivals where you will find me helping! (Shameless advertisement :3) When watching movies, I am more tempted to go towards Animated Movies. Any Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks movie I have probably seen (Except the last How to train your dragon movie, as here in the Czech Republic they only display it in Czech 😞 ) Shows like Game of Thrones and Vikings are the shows that I enjoy watching, the more severe storyline series. Otherwise, I mostly watch anime if you can consider that a series. Books is a difficult one. As I am not such a bookworm, I don’t read that much. I used to love the books of Dirk Bracke, a Belgian author (More books for young teenagers). Other than that, some manga now and then, but in general I don't read that much. (I really should) ▶ Is there something that you want to say to our community? Thank you for all the support and feedback that you guys provided already. Hope that after the release we can still count on your support! ▶ You are Outlander; humanity has fallen. What would you do? Find a nice shelter and try not to move too much. Avoid all confrontation with other outlanders and try to find loot to survive. And see some activity to keep me busy. But really, I hope this never happens as I have no idea how I would approach this not to die. Bonus Question (From Alex ) ▶ If there is anywhere in the world you would like to visit, where would it be and why? I want to visit at least each continent once, but the top place I want to visit is Japan. Tokyo as well as the smaller cities. It is a country that has always interested me. The culture, the food, the people, just everything from Japan looks like a dream. And to see the difference between busy Tokyo and the calm nature in Japan. One day ❤️
