Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 20, 2011 Quickstart Example: 1. Install Ubuntu 11.04 2. Copy Fresh install of ArmA2/ArmA2OA to your home folder. The folder should be called "arma2" or "arma2arrowhead" if you want. 3. Download the Linux Dedicated Server install it and follow the instructions in that post. At the end check if you have two expansion folders. "expansion" and "Expansion". Thats a bug. If not then the bug was fix, go to the next step. If you have the bug then copy everything from "Expansion" to "expansion" then delete the "Expansion" folder. Look in the "expansion" folder and copy everything from "Battleye" to "battleye" then delete the "Battleye" folder. Run tolower or wait until arma2servergui is installed and you can do it from there. 4. Download arma2servergui and unzip it to the root of your arma2 directory. 5. Look for a server.cfg file (if you don't have one) and put it in the root of your arma2 directory. Make sure its called server.cfg. 6. R-Click arma2servergui click "Properties" then click the Permissions tab and check the Execute box then hit "Close". 7. Now double-click arma2servergui and click "Run in Terminal". Next time (if everything is OK) then you can click "Run" instead. 8. Enjoy! Common Probs: arma2servergui is not set to Execute server is not set to Execute tolower is not set to Execute user doesn't have the proper permissions Tips: Open System Monitor and watch for the "server" process
Guest Posted August 21, 2011 Your site is pretty much unable to reach, maybe you can fix that? (just try the links in your signature)
Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 21, 2011 I've been on and off it the past hour 1/2. No probs. Must be on your end? EDIT: I have to update the second link in my sig, but the two link in my sig still take you to my site. Shouldn't be any probs.
Guest Posted August 21, 2011 Unless you banned me I think your site really can not be reached? You might want to check this with others. http://www.rexxenexx.com/ 403 - Permission Denied You do not have permission to retrieve the URL or link you requested, / Please inform the administrator of the referring page, http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=123909 if you think this was a mistake. http://www.rexxenexx.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=151&func=fileinfo&id=74 403 - Permission Denied You do not have permission to retrieve the URL or link you requested, /index.php Please inform the administrator of the referring page, http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=123909 if you think this was a mistake. And when using no referer (as in typing the adress directly in the adres bar) gives the same result.
Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 21, 2011 That's odd. I clicked my sigs links and the ones you just posted just now and it comes up OK. If you were banned you'd just get a white page (view source would show no HTML) Thats how my security works ;) But 403 is something else. Must be some network issue from the Netherlands to the US? Someone else confirm?
eddieck 10 Posted August 21, 2011 It works fine for me from the US.
Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) Foxhound, my host might have IP range banned. They had problems earlier this year so they might have added some lower level Apache block deal I have to ask. That 403 sounds like that. Do you know the first set of your IP addy? XXX.000.000.000 EDIT: K I think I found it. They edited my htaccess and added a bunch of "deny from" lines. Err... Go to network-tools.com or how ever you normally do and PM or if you don't care post here the first set of your IP and I'll remove it from the htaccess. Thats got to be it. LOL: deny from 114.80.93. deny from 124.115. deny from 58.61.164. #deny from 66. deny from 178. deny from 95. deny from 205. deny from 207. deny from 208. deny from 209. deny from 211. deny from 212. deny from 68. deny from 84. deny from 23. deny from 188. deny from 79. deny from 109. deny from 217. deny from 213. deny from 220. deny from 94. deny from 111. deny from 121. deny from 204. deny from 85. deny from 89. deny from 221. deny from 91. EDIT2: FOX Try it now! Edited August 21, 2011 by Rexxenexx
Guest Posted August 21, 2011 I see progress. :) Right now I see a blank page (that must be the banned thing you were on about earlier?) no error message anymore. These are the first few numbers of my IP: 85.*.*.*

Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 21, 2011 Sry had to sleep, it was 3AM here lol. OK NOW I see it on my own Security. Your IP (and six others:all autobanned last night lol) was under an IP range I blocked a while back. This is better, I removed the IP ranges and unbanned. So my hosts line of defense is down and I my line of defense is down. I rem why I wrote my range block in the first place. I was having multiple flood downloads from one IP a couple years ago. When he/she was autobanned (for flooding) the IP would change but he/she would still be under the same subnet. ie flooding continued. I wrote the range block and that stopped that person and other hackers with diff methods who hop under the same subnet. Interesting stuff. I haven't worked on my PHP security program for at least a year, but it's been doing a pretty good job so far. ;) BTW I HAD to put all these blocks (I didn't put the htaccess one) because Rexxenexx.com is an extra site I have using little to no $$ on, so I don't have much HD space or $/transfer bandwidth. That way I can keep it w/ no ads or other bs. My security program is one that I wrote in PHP that blocks a ton of stuff like download managers, flooding, injections, GOOGLE. Thaaaat's right I block Google, those leeching datamining mf'ers ;) Anyway that's why I'm kinda pissed my host edited MY htaccess when they had their own problem. They could have just edited a higher up server htaccess or router to do the same thing. Contemplating talking to the host but I'd rather they not know I del'd the "deny from" lines so they don't get the idea to put it back. :P I had no real problem, eh oh well. I think it's all good now. Let me know if your having any issues.

nuxil 2 Posted August 30, 2011 nice to see that someone is makeing linux tools. i would try it out if our server was running linux but we are running windows. Maybe you should ask a mod to move this thread to Community Made Utilities as it belongs more there than here.
Rexxenexx 0 Posted September 4, 2011 Maybe you should ask a mod to move this thread to Community Made Utilities as it belongs more there than here. That's a good idea. I didn't know that forum existed. ;) So if a Mod sees this I think that would be a good move to the Community Made Utilities forum.
