    USP Patches & Insignias

Thanks Foxhound and kecharles, always a pleasure. Much appreciated. I didn't want to just throw together a bunch of patches that looked crappy, so I made sure to give each and every one that special loving touch. Still plenty more to come, I haven't even scratched the surface yet. ;)

UnderSiege Patches & Insignias v1.2 released. First post updated.

That's excellent, glad to hear it. Armaholic is the best way (in my opinion) to sort out problematic installations, or making sure you have the most recent updates for a particular addon. Sometimes I wish Auto-Installers and PWS didn't even exist, since it fragments the community into those that use it and those that don't...and then you get people reporting issues which have nothing to do with the addon itself, but more of a problem from the auto-installer doing something wrong. I understand it makes things easier for people, but easier isn't always better. I have a nice batch of Polish patches ready for the coming update, and I think you will be quite pleased. Will try to pack in as many as I can tonight, and should be ready to release tomorrow.

Thanks, Lucht, and absolutely. I still have tons saved and ready for editing on my HD, just takes time...especially when you start bringing in more countries (and working on other projects). You can definetly expect to see a large chunk of US patches included with every update, even when I'm focusing an update towards a specific nation/purpose. But, if there are any in specific that you would like to go ahead and see by the coming update, please feel free to post them or let me know which.

No problem at all, bazyleq. Its nice to receive feedback, whether good or bad, to help iron out the issues and keep everyone happy. And it would be my pleasure to add in some Polish patches, will include a batch of them with the next update...which will hopefully be ready for release this weekend. Also, be sure to let me know if installing the addon from armaholic (which is your best choice in my opinion) has fixed the errors you were having. Many thanks, glad people are finding some uses for these. ;)

Even though I advertise it, I don't much like using PlayWithSix...seems it turns up more problems with installation than it is actually solving. I've never seen that error that you mentioned, nor has it ever been reported before...so, once again...I feel either PWS or something has the installation wrong. I could probably get it working for you, through manual verification and installation. If you would, please post your file structure (whether by text or picture) of where the addon is installed and what .pbo's are included, that should help me sort out what went wrong. EDIT: After looking into the error you posted a bit more, I'm guessing it is looking for an entry for the 'action' field...which simply points the user to the mod/addons website. I never added these entries since I don't have a website setup for the projects...but it never produced an error before with it not being there. A bit strange. In any case, I have updated my config for the addon to now include a website entry, so maybe that will fix the error message that pops up. If you would like, I can send the file to you directly, so you can check to see if it fixes the problem.

    USP Patches & Insignias

Very sorry for the late reply, haven't been online in a few days now. Okay, as far as MP goes, I never have checked to see if these would work in MP but with them just being patches...I don't see why they wouldn't. The only problem I could think of for MP, would be that they take the place of the squad logo .xml patch, if you are wearing one (as far as I know). And if anyone does get these working in multiplayer, please do post and let me know that they work, or if there is problems, let me know what they are so I can possibly fix them. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be showing up in your virtual arsenal, but that sounds like a problem with the installation of the addon...please double check how/where you have it installed, and your startup parameters. I don't use auto-installers or game launchers, so if that is your case, I don't think I could be of much help there...but I could tell you how to manually install the addon, if needed. Once installed correctly, your virtual arsenal should be flooded with new patches (the insignia tab is the last one). In order to add patches/insignias to your unit in SP (should be the same in MP, not sure), please put this code into the unit initialization field: [this,"CLASSNAME"] call BIS_fnc_setUnitInsignia; If you open the readme file which is included with the addon, I have a listing of all the classnames for the various patches. Find the one you would like to use/try, then put the classname for it in the above code, replacing CLASSNAME, but keeping the quotation marks. Hope this helps you guys out, and if you have further problems...please do say so, and I will help as much as I can. ;)
  8. Everything looks great now, and thank you so much for this excellent addon. Only one error that I've noticed so far, and please pay no mind to the uniform being worn, I took the screenshot while a mod was active, but tested again without any mods except this and CBA and still had same error. Thanks again for all your (and everyone involved) work towards this masterpiece. :)
  9. Awesome news, Teeha. Really excited about the update for these. Can't remember which it was that had the blank textures, but will this update fix both variants (black and tan)?

    RH M4/M16 pack

This is Robert Hammer your talking about...I don't think he's capable of creating anything that's not great quality. I am definetly looking forward to the HK416/417 additions, and believe they would fit just fine in the m4/m16 pack.
  11. Awesome, Ranger, and thank you. It's great to see that someone has taken the time to update this great map. ;)
  12. Congrats on the release, much-anticipated. Aside from the texturing issues as mentioned before, they look absolutely great.

    RH M4/M16 pack

Seriously man, wait for the update with patience...like everyone else. There is absolutely no sense in RH releasing bunches of hotfixes when his update is just around the corner. I do believe he mentioned real-life issues taking precedence, and I'm pretty sure that comes first, so at least show respect for the man that gives us super-high quality work free-of-cost. I'm absolutely sure he is just as ready to release it as you are to have it released. Don't mean to sound hostile, but your off to a bit of a rough start in these forums...2 out of 4 posts asking for ETA's on updates, and if you can get a fix released early. Everyone is excited, and we all love RH's work. But you gotta understand people do have lives, and other things to factor in, so give them some time, provide constructive feedback/ideas, and it will all work out in the end. As for your missions, just use placeholders for now until the update is ready...its as simple as that.
  14. The error that's being reported is a file from JSRS 1.5, for A2. It is to my understanding that AiA has begun using JSRS1.5 to replace all the default sounds with the great ones developed by LordJarhead. Not sure about the exact details of it all, but I downloaded JSRS1.5 and the weapon sounds work just fine (along with the sound fix that you posted). The only thing still missing for me is the armor/car engine sounds.

Sorry for the delayed response, I have been hard at work trying to figure out why it may not be working...but it seems everything is correct and the way it should be. I have contacted some other people to try and see if they have the same issues on a dedicated server, so now I am just awaiting their response. I truly feel that something is wrong on your end, because I have looked into it alot and still seems to be no issues that I can see. For so many people to have downloaded both of those addons (even some PWS communities have these in their collections), but no one has ever reported any problems. Now, I'm not saying you are incorrect, but I really feel you should do some checking around as well to see if there is something you may have been doing wrong...maybe even look into the thread by BI about using your own dedicated server: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Dedicated_Server I will continue to try and find a solution here, but until I can confirm this with others, there isn't a whole lot I can do unfortunately.
  16. Took the liberty to check out a bunch of the old A1 community-made maps with this pack, and here's a list of maps that I found to work just fine (granted they also have any required addons needed): I tried to only choose maps with good/decent quality, rather than listing ALL that work (basically just the ones I would personally still use). Also for anyone that really wanted to check out the ancient OFP maps; PMC_AEC, offers 3 of them on one map (and works), but keep in mind its a direct port of the old maps, meaning really poor ground textures. The one I have listed, SAP_Everon, would be my choice though as it was remade for A1, which of course resulted in overall better quality. Maybe this is useful for somebody out there, just figured I would share the knowledge. :)

That is quite strange, and thank you for reporting. You are actually the first to say they don't work on dedicated, but I'm not sure why not...key is there, files are signed...? When building both of these addons, I never was able to check them online (multiplayer) to see if they were working, so all I could do was wait for it to be reported. I will do some research and see if I can find out why they wouldn't be working...but I have to admit, not real sure what it could be as everything was done by the books when creating...maybe something missing from the config...? Sorry for the inconvenience, and I will try to get it working for you. Would really be appreciated if more people could check this issue and see if it's the same for them as well. EDIT: In the mean time, could you test again with the key loaded in the A3 directory keys folder. Then also try it by adding a keys folder to the World Markers/Patches folder, and placing the key there.
  18. Yes, this pack includes the default A1 maps already, but you can still download A1 or A2 maps and be able to play them with this, without having A1 or A2 installed. Not all community-made maps are compatible, and some tend to crash, but from the testing I've done...seems the majority of them work. As far as A3MP is concerned, I can't comment too much on it since, even though I've had it installed for awhile now, haven't really messed around on the maps that much. But from what's been posted, and what I've seen myself with this pack, seems to be a good replacement over A3MP. My concern is the same as yours though, and I guess it will all boil down to which is better supported in the end.
  19. You are correct. This is standalone, with all maps included already. Only requirement is CBA A3. Just gave some A1 community-made maps a spin (Afghan Village, Avgani, Razani) and although they could use some attention, seemed to work fine for the most part. Going to have a great time running through all the old maps from A1 and A2, seeing what works, and enjoying those old memories. Thanks again for this excellent release, kju!

    USP Patches & Insignias

Version 1.1 has been released, for those that missed it. First post has been updated. Thanks Foxhound and kecharles, added it faster than I could submit it. ;) Thanks Zukov, I will be sure to add in a Hydra patch on the next update. Don't know how I missed that. Thanks Mr Pedersen, and I sure will add some WW2 patches. In this update, I opened a new category for historic patches, which only has a few at the moment (USMC Raiders, 13th Airborne, 17th Airborne), but definetly expect to see many more on the next update. I will be trying to cover as many historic patches as possible, including WW2, Vietnam, and other notable conflicts. And just as a note for all, I will continue adding patches regardless of requests, but requests will help to point me in a particular direction for each update. So, if there is something you would really like to see added, feel free to make a request and it will be brought in on the following update. Also, if you have a look at the combo sample patches included with the pack, and you would like to have your own combo patch made, please let me know what banners and patch you would like to have combined, and I will add them. Hope you all enjoy the addon.

    USP Patches & Insignias

Its no problem, Flipper. I understand there's alot of patches to go through, so pretty easy to miss one. I tried to break them all down into related-groups, to make it easier for finding what you need. Will be releasing an update this weekend, with lots more...so stay tuned. ;)

    USP Patches & Insignias

Thank you, Flipper. The 'Rainbow' patch you have referenced is already included with this pack. Just please keep in mind, there are a total of 300 patches here, so plenty more than what the screenshot shows. Best way to preview and add patches, is through the Virtual Arsenal. All of the classnames are provided in the readme file included with the download. To add a specific patch to a unit (as long as they are wearing a compatible uniform), place this code into the unit initialization field: [this,"CLASSNAME"] call BIS_fnc_setUnitInsignia; Just replace 'CLASSNAME' with the actual classname of the patch you would like to use. Hope that helps get you started.

Looks good to me. ;) I can add it in if you'd like, maybe a few minor touches, but looks almost ready the way it is.

    USP Patches & Insignias

Thanks, Zukov. And yes, I will be adding in a ton more patches, including generic and real-world OPFOR insignias. I will focus on other countries soon, after I get through most of the US patches, so I will be covering as many insignias as possible from all across the world. But, I will be sure to try and include as many rebel/OPFOR patches as I can in the next update, which should be released this week/weekend. If there are any in particular that you would like to see in the coming update, please feel free to post or send them to me. Also, for anyone interested, I am going to post a picture of all the different patch banners that I have made, and these will be used for creating combo patches (such as the combo samples that are included already). If anyone wants a personalized combo patch, simply let me know which banner(s) you would like, as well as the patch which would be displayed. So for instance, you could have an airborne banner above a morale patch, or ranger banner above a bloodtype patch, etc. This will allow players to even further customize a patch to their liking. I still have some more banners to work on, but I will post them up as soon as they are complete.
