Marine Expeditionary Force Mod
Siege-A replied to Mattastic's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Sorry about that Matt, I didn't touch the LWH helmet w/o goggles, due to the reason I wasn't aware it also had the same issues. Would you like me to go over it and make a fix? -

Siege-A replied to Mattastic's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yeah, this was actually the first time I had ever come across this issue...but I'm sure it's probably more common for folks that work with models alot. My fix, unfortunately, isn't really much to document on. I simply did some re-pathing and added a couple files that were missing for the models, but really not much to put on paper. Knew it had something to do with the models, so just had to dive in there and find what was missing. ;) -

Mattastic, I opened up your .pbo file and fixed the helmet/hat issues. Now they display properly, at distances, and no longer have the 'tilt' issue. I am uploading the file to dropbox, and will PM you the link shortly. I left a readme inside with the changes that were made. -

Everything looks fine. Honestly, the only thing I can think of is it has something to do with you renaming the model.p3d. To my understanding, sometimes simply renaming the model isn't sufficient, as it can cause unexpected issues. Best advice I could offer is try using the default model 'mas_cdrhat', and using the hiddenSelectionsTextures to link to your texture, because everything looks good apart from that. -

Could you please post the config (or PM) showing your class for the 'mef_cdrhat'? The one you have in the example was for the helmet with goggles. -

Siege-A replied to Mattastic's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
No problem. Okay, here's something else I noticed (not sure if its intentional or not), in your model.cfg you have 'mas_cdrhat' listed as 'mef_cdrhat'. This would only be correct if you changed the name of the model itself, so as I said, not sure if you meant to do this or not. I have to admit, I've never seen headgear tilt around on the characters head like that...so quite an odd issue. EDIT: PM sent. -

Siege-A replied to Mattastic's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Well, the only thing there that I could see that is a problem (which could be your main issue), is you have different models listed under 'model' and 'uniformModel'. As far as I know, those two fields should link to the same model. Congrats on the units and release, and if you have any further trouble config wise, feel free to shoot me a message. -
BadLuckBurt, thanks for the clarification. The quote I made above from the A3L changelog (from 0.9.3 to 0.9.7) was all actually just a part of the TFAR update that they included, didn't notice it until you posted the link to the TFAR download page. In any case, I will send a message to Glowbal about the updates they have made to CSE. And also message Fromz, to keep him aware of their interest for his mod.
-
I was quite curious about this myself...usually things are encrypted for a reason.
-
Here's some fun facts, I contacted Glowbal back when A3L was talking about adding CSE to their modpack, and here was his response: So I'm guessing A3L also got permission to modify CSE? And now it looks like they have their sights on some more content to steal: Wonder if members of the BWMOD or RHS gave them permissions? And finally...just a quote from one of their community members about Fromz Living Through Mod from MANW: http://arma3-life.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26480-lt-living-through-live-another-day-by-fromz/ BTW, eggbeast, you can add Glowbal's response to your list of evidence against A3L...as I have saved his message.

+1. This is a great idea guys, hope it will be implemented or at least the source files released. I too was a bit curious why BI didn't include fast-roping with this release...being that it is a Heli DLC. The new ropes with PhysX would be amazing to see for this type of operation.
-
Thanks again for the response, Matt. I hope you don't feel like we're just attacking you because I can assure you, your input is highly valuable. You are our gateway to BI and a way for us to voice our concerns, and it is much appreciated. We understand that you're not the enemy here, and even though some can come across a bit direct, it's all in favor of our common goal...to shut A3L down. With that said, I have to agree with DevilDogCro on this matter. If there is no punishment/consequences for what they have done, what is to stop other players from taking up this state of mind in order to gain profit...especially now that they know it is okay to breach the EULA without legal action being taken against them? I understand doing so would involve time, resources, and money....but isn't that the point here? To deliver a message to the community that if you do illegal things then you will be punished for it? Instead of saying, 'you can make money illegally...but once we catch you, you have to stop.' Do police simply ask drug dealers to stop what their doing, or do they take action against them? Because the way I see it, A3L is the drug dealers of this community...and right now, they are being given a second chance even through all the wrong-doings that they have done. You also asked what punishment would be just and enforceable outside of a court order. Well, when you put it like that...I guess none. Since this is a legal matter, I don't believe anything outside of a courtroom would be any type of real punishment for them...apart from banning their servers, but that doesn't seem to be an option since as you said....they aren't breaking the EULA 'anymore'. So could you please elaborate a bit more on what type of punishments you all offer that don't involve legal action being taken, against someone who has broken the law?
-
Hello, Matt, and thank you for the reply. The post of mine that you had quoted was corrected afterwards, as I understand now that it is not BI's job to enforce copyright issues with community made content. I apologize for my reaction and quick jump to place the blame. But, I would appreciate it if you could comment on my last post, about the breach in A3's EULA. My concern is that BI states that the commercial gain by A3L has been resolved...but how is that? Simply by asking them to stop? While that may be good, it still baffles me why there is no consequences when they clearly made money from this in an illegal way. Resolving the issue would be compensation to all those that donated money while the mod was pay-to-play...which would involve forcing A3L to payback all the illegal funds that they have gained. Otherwise, with the current conclusion, the system is open for people to make money illegally until they are caught...in which case you all tell them to stop, and problem solved. I thought it was the users job to read the fine print, which in this case would have made them aware that what they were doing was illegal. You don't sign a contract with someone and then try to back out when you are caught breaking the contract, because by that point it was your job to read the details of the contract...and is no excuse in a legal environment that you just 'didn't know any better'. So my question is, do you really feel that what you all did to resolve the situation was handled properly? And if so, what's to stop other people from doing this same act when the case against A3L was resolved with a simple stop order, but no real consequence for their breach in the EULA. How many times does someone need to breach it in order for legal action to be taken against them?
-
+1. That was my main gripe with BI's official response to the situation. Regardless of all the other details, A3L made a substantial sum of money when they were charging people to join (commercial activities), but now that they have been caught, they simply changed their rules around and BI is okay with it since they have now complied. What sense does that make? In theory, I guess people could just do the same as A3L and make as much money as they can until they are caught...then BI will just order you to stop, but you get to keep all the money you've made up to that point with no real consequences for your actions. The proper way for BI to handle this, would be to take the evidence stacked against A3L and make an example out of them so anyone thinking of doing the same will take a step back. You breach our EULA once...that's okay. You breach it twice...that's breaking the law.
-
My apologies, you make a valid point. My comment toward BI was poorly worded, and should have been directed more towards the breach in their EULA and how it was handled.
-
So this: http://i.imgur.com/Jsy2gyg.png is how BI decided to handle the situation? Wow. So basically, if your work is stolen (even if by immature little children) then it is your duty to resolve this between yourselves? And if the accused party decides not to comply with your wishes, then tough luck. In the end, this only opens content theft to anyone that has no concern over the thoughts of others, morality, or how their reputation may be affected. So what exactly is the point in releasing addons/mods with attached licenses...if none of those licenses really has any meaning (or consequences if broken)? Obviously, there might be a ban on these forums, and maybe some people disliking you...but what does that really amount to? A slap on the wrist (if that)? It's okay, Bohemia, leave your community to deal with the problem as you always have. And as far as Mike Baxter coming to defend the A3L team in a 'respectable' way. Nothing more than a misinformed PR that has no clue (or so he says) over what is really going on in the team that he is a part of. I find it pretty unlikely that a member such as him (which in the beginning of this whole ordeal, served as A3L's defense) is totally unaware of the corrupt nature of his fellow members. I feel his only goal for resurfacing in this thread (now that they have received assurance from BI) is to slow down the communities efforts in stopping them, and to try and make content developers feel a bit hopeful that their content may actually be removed...one day. This is total nonsense. He has no power in A3L, as he has clearly mentioned, so none of these requests will be met...as the one truly in charge, is Caiden...and we all know how that goes. I find it funny how he mentions the part about adding new staff, and how this probably won't happen because of trolls and people stealing 'THEIR' content. Once again, you are misinformed, MBaxter...the content within A3L is not yours or theirs, it belongs to the actual creators of that content. So, I think what you meant to say is 'people stealing someone elses work that we stole for ourselves'. And finally, you had said something about using content and how it didn't break any licenses...please look up those licenses and clearly read everything stated within, as I think the way you all are using this content falls under the No-Derivs part...you are re-releasing content after modifying/editing it. Don't come here to try and BS us, everyone is fully aware of what the A3L team is involved in...as do you. On that note, who really thinks this guy is relaying any of this information to his team apart from, 'they want us to remove their content, and I told them we would....*cue endless laughter*'?
-
Now you're making sense. I agree 100%, and that's why everyone here is so heated with him and his team. We live and learn...and in this situation, Caiden has alot of learning to do.
-
I'm a bit confused by this...you say your not here to support their theft but yet you keep requesting that we either drop the whole thing, or we just continue what we're doing and allow A3L to keep running for the time being. All this just so YOU can have a good time...who cares what the rest of us think, or are affected by it. I find it quite humorous that they are having so much trouble with their servers, and I hope it ruins the experience for that whole community. No one here is trying to single you out, but you enter our thread basically in their defense...claiming what their doing isn't wrong. It may not be pay-to-play now, but I bet if you go ahead and pay Caiden that 30$ donation, you will have your application accepted much more quickly. Also, you want to know why you like this A3L so much more than Altis Life? Because it is packed full of stolen goods that the community has worked hard on, whereas Tonic's work is of his own...and anything that isn't, he has directly gotten permission to use. It's pretty easy for someone to copy a gamemode and then stock it up on all your favorite addons/mods, then release it as a pack. So, why doesn't Tonic do this you say? Because, he's a respectable member in this community and doesn't use people's work without permission, actually smart enough to create things on his own. Do you see the difference yet? If everyone here used the same mentality as Caiden, then I'm sure this modding community would die out pretty fast...as authors would be less willing to release their content to the public, and reserve it for their own (private community) personal use.
-
Well, I don't run my own private server so that is knowledge to me, thanks for the correction. Regardless, Tonic's work better fits my statement as it was clearly stolen and modified...and I'm sure that isn't the only persons work they have edited to their liking. Hell, on their website they stream armaholic updates, just keeping their community updated on new addons released so they can vote on what to add next.
-
What a sad little kid you are. The evidence is right infront of you, and has been exposed numerous times now, but for some reason your uneducated brain just doesn't seem to understand it. If you would just take the time to dislodge your head from your ass, you could actually read the licenses attached to the addons/mods you have stolen...and if you're smart enough, you will finally see the error in your ways. Let's just look past the commercial part of the license that you are obviously breaking, and look at another broken agreement which states: No-Derivs. Apparently you don't understand what this means, because you keep arguing that you haven't broken any license agreements. No-Derivatives means you are free to use the addon/mod as long as it is in its full-state and not edited/modified in any way. Simply changing the server key to an addon/mod is considered, editing/modifying...which I'm sure that isn't all you've edited in other peoples work, but that's enough to point out that you have broken the license. Just because addons/mods are made publicly available, does not entitle you to download and change them in any way you like...then re-upload them as your own. Granted, you will continue to do so since you seem to believe that no one really enforces copyright laws, but if you are so in the right, why is it that BI, PayPal, and I'm sure several other big companies have suddenly taken notice to you? Transactions getting blocked? I don't believe those guys are 'haters', so why would they be doing this to you? All the better, just keep playing dumb as that only benefits the opposite side against you. By the way: http://arma3-life.com/forums/index.php?/topic/9740-official-beta-release-date/ Yeah, because moving to a new server will solve everything. So how long do you plan to keep this up before the truth finally catches up with you?

Veteran mod (VTN) - announcement and WIP
Siege-A replied to dead kennedy's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thanks for the info about the Epoch mod...never heard of it till now, but will take a look (even though I'm also not a big fan of the zombie fan-craze going on). Not sure what you didn't really like about the RHS mod, but I would say it was a pretty complete release and some extremely great quality work, but to each their own. First off, big congrats to the development team of the VTN mod for the big release, a very ambitious project you have on your hands. From my first impressions, I stand about where everyone else does, very excited about the future of this mod, even with the rough start. I won't get too much into likes or dislikes since I understand you all still have an incredible amount of work ahead of you, so I'm sure everything will be improved over time. So, best of luck with the competition and thanks for all the work you guys are putting into this. ;) -
RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)
Siege-A replied to soul_assassin's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Outstanding work and congrats on the release. This is by far the best expansion to hit A3 to date, in my opinion. Everything looks excellent and going to have a blast building some missions with these. Thank you for all your dedicated work on this project, for all involved, and best of luck in MANW...you have my vote.- 16574 replies

Black eagles radio support script
Siege-A replied to BlackSnakes20's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Well, I think you may be mistaken. See, I have checked your script file and compared to Lato's script from the Hunter Six mission, and they are perfectly identical. I even spoke with Lato about this and he said the same thing. I hate to be the forum police here, but ripping off someone elses work and claiming it as your own isn't the way this community works. If that was the case, you should have just kept it to yourself. The least you could have done is change the file structure...but even your folders are named identically to his. Be creative and make your own stuff...but don't expect to fool everyone when all you did was copy and paste. Very poor decision. -
[SP Campaign] Hunter Six: Special Operations Unit
Siege-A replied to lato1982's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
I had both of these same issues. I managed to fix the helicopter bug by ordering a squad member to board the chopper as it was hovering, which forced it to land and then it began responding to transport commands once again. But as far as the frozen patrols...nothing...they stayed like that the whole time, probably ever since Day 3-4. Just completed the mission tonight, and it was an excellent experience. Truly one of my favorite Singleplayer missions I've played in a long time. Also was very amazed the whole thing worked out so well, no serious issues or bugs to be reported. Top-notch work, and best of luck in the MANW contest. Completed Mission Stats: -

Is this the same script used in the Hunter Six mission by Lato?
