Tophe's Arma Dedicated Server Tool (TADST)
t4nk83 replied to tophe's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Issue of missions not showing have disappeared, the only thing I did was download and apply the new version TADST -
Server was =7CAV= Tactical Realism, they have both a day and night patch. It is an Ahoy World Invade and Annex Map, 40 Players. Times I am on are usually around 6:00pm pst - 12:00AM PST, the servers population is usually around 25-40 Players. Server resets every 4 hours. What more information would you like?
-
I have seen minor improvement in MP, single player has never given me a problem. My average was probably 28-55 fps before patch now it is 34-59 fps

This is what we did: 1.) downloaded TADST 2.) Unzipped into C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Arma 3 3.) Right-Clicked TADST.exe -> Send To Desktop (Create Shortcut) 4.) Double-Clicked Shortcut on desktop TADST.exe - Shortcut 5.) Setup Server Info, Name, Max Players, Battleeye, no voting, MOTD's 6.) Dropped PBO into MPMissions Folder under C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Arma 3\MPMission 7.) Clicked mission tab in TADST, Click Refresh No Missions show up. I have tried seriously 8 Missions, All from Armaholic, they will not show up. If I did anything wrong please instruct me on how to correctly do it. -

I cant get any missions to load. They will not show up in the TDST tool even if I place them in C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam|Steamapps\common\Arma 3\MPMissions or if I put the in the Arma 3 Other profiles folder any idea Tophe? -
Yeah thanks for the info. I am trying to setup using Tophe's tool, but can't seem to get the missions to show up in game. I just might have to run it through the lobby.

Me and a bud are thinkning about getting our own hosted dedicated server for Arma III through gameservers.com. I would like to know if anyone has done this him/her - self and what their experience is with this company I had them COD4 and BF:BC2, it was an overall good experience with minimal issues.

Gain 10-20 frames per second in multiplayer
t4nk83 replied to henri's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
That sir is a common misconception. Aero was more than just the glass feel and 3d flip of Aista and 7. Aero is the technology that allows the operating system to use hardware acceleration to improve rendering of the active windows... http://www.howtogeek.com/128819/aero-isnt-gone-in-windows-8-6-aero-features-you-can-still-use/ -
Gain 10-20 frames per second in multiplayer
t4nk83 replied to henri's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
This is an old trick, especially if you are running on older hardware 3-5 years old and running vista or windows 7. It should work, but considering windows 8 disables this on a full screen app launch or program launch it will (or should not have) any discernible difference to players with Windows 8 -
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/Requirements/arma-3-alpha/11602?p=r 2.83Ghz Clock speed is fine. It meets minimum specs. An overclock would do you good, but not much. You can probably bump it up 3.00Ghz without any discernable difference in power or thermal

Inventory and ammobox scroller flicks to top
t4nk83 replied to Tankbuster's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Ok. I was offering a workaround until the bug is fixed. Your using a DEV build, there are going to be some flaws, because in it's nature it is still in Development. Why don't you not resort to name calling and trying to tell people not to post, when someone is just offering a workaround and some advice. Being an asshat and rude will not net you any other solution, either use it as it is working now, or use a workaround which I offered. Sorting the ammo box by type would reduce the the items you see, there for removing the scroll bar from the inventory screen, therefore removing the glitch. Don't be that guy and take your frustration out on me. I for one do not experience the glitch, but some people I team up with do. So this is the workaround they used, just trying to be helpful and sharing it with you. Also sorting by type will organize the items by type, not limit you to what you push into it. -

Why don't you guys sort by type, that will reduce the amount that you see. Also, right clicking an item sends it directly to your inventory. I am sorry, but this does not happen to me. -
Are you using DEV build? if so guarantee you they have not updated it yet. Sounds like from the words they are using they are keeping it close to the chest.

Great info man thanks. I do have an old core 2 duo system (e8400 @ 3.00Ghz, with an ssd, and 4gb of ddr 1066mhz in my garage, maybe I can give that a try?) I also have an older Xeon server box using ddr2 and I think 2 36gb scsi 10k rpm hdd somewhere.. this might be able to run a headless systems, don't want anything to big, maybe tops 8-12 man. Mainly being doing missions/scenarios with friends. ---------- Post added at 19:55 ---------- Previous post was at 19:52 ---------- thanks

First patch is incoming guys (and girls?). Not too uch information as of yet, but hey it is a start and sounds promising: http://dev.arma3.com/sitrep-00027 ROM: Project Lead TO: Arma 3 Users INFO: First patch, Firstlook 2013 PRECEDENCE: Flash SITUATION We are in the final stages of preparing for the first post-release patch / main branch update. This does not yet contain the first campaign episode. There are a couple of fixes and improvements that will benefit the larger playerbase and would be good to get out. Recent optimizations benefit the performance of Altis, especially in scenarios with lots of AI units moving about. There are also a few fixes for Japanese and Korean versions - such as re-enabling blood and correcting broken font issues for some texts. The goal is to release later this week, but as per usual, this depends on testing.

There is a known memory leak somewhere in the game, as well as some bad ai coding etc. So your performance is on par (actually a little bit better) than most players. Arma 3 is highly CPU dependent, I would recommend lowering your draw distance down to 700-1200 an let the other two auto adjust. See if that helps. But, what you are describing sounds like a memory leak. You can most likely (for now) just restart arma, and/or your computer to alleviate this issue. There is a patch that is coming out later this week for some performance improvements for most systems. SITREP:http://dev.arma3.com/sitrep-00027 Cordially, T4nk83

Dual monitors - Game uses secondary monitor
t4nk83 replied to Howard's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
If your 2nd monitor goes black: Browse to the arma3 game executable C:\Program Files(X86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma3\arma3.exe (I think), right click on it, then click on compatibility tab, then Tick on (Put a check) on disable desktop composition. Did that fix your issue? -
ATI - Low FPS in spite of good hardware.
t4nk83 replied to Jefferson's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I use to be an AMD/ATI fanboy..then I met the Blue and green monstrosity of utter awesomeness.. haven't looked back. Anyways, dropping your render distances seems to help a lot of people...have you tried that? -
Not by much. In fact some of the newer chips from Intel have actual seen degraded performance due to the new instruction sets.

Troll rating 0/10, seriously the Vishera class chips are pretty good, especially when compared with the right memory and GPU setup, which the OP is. Please learn something about current CPU architecture before you say something so naive and moronic, when compared to the i5-2500K (the gaming crown jewel as of now), your talking about 3-7% performance difference. Not bad for a budget processor. to the OP: the game is optimized for shit right now, make sure all your drivers are up to date, and that your system is clean from and inherent background processes (other applications running and eating up memory and processor power). Don't be surprised at frame rates averaging in the high 20's and spiking to the 50's and low 60's. This is normal. My Specs: Core i7-3820 @ 4.0Ghz 16GB Kingston HyperX 1600MHZ CL9 DDR3 Quad Channel Asus Sabertooth x79 PCI-E 3.0 Motherboard Gigabyte GTX 680 2GB 256-bit PCI-E 3.0 Video Card Crucial M4 SSD 256GB Windows 8 Professional x64 Regards

I do have some old dual Xeons in the shop, with some 10k SCSI hard disks, just would need to buy my own copy of Arma3 for it , Im guessing? Or could I copy and paste some files from my Arma3 just for the server?
