  1. I've been out of the game a about a year and a half and am trying to update my units to the Eden editor standard. So my problem here is that, in the Zeus spawn menu, if I do not have any units already spawned (with the editor) then nothing from my faction appears in the Zeus spawn menu. If I spawn an infantryman in the editor and try to use Zeus, then all the infantry are available to spawn (everything defined in that PBO), but none of the vehicles. If I spawn a vehicle, then everything is available in Zeus with no problems. I have the units defined in my CfgPatches and have them set to CuratorScope = 2 in the config, so I can't for the life of me figure out what's been going on. I've been looking for the issue for a few days with no progress. I can post some of my configs if you want, but I don't seem to be doing anything differently from what I used to do around mid 2015 to get these to work.

    Stands for ProTective... A PT belt is a bulletproof, shrapnelproof piece of kit that uses highly classified technology to render you invulnerable to physical harm. Totally not just a reflective belt.

    I'm excited for this tank DLC... As much as Arma is an infantry simulator, I've fallen in love with the armor branch and definitely would like to see implementation of that particular combat arm into the game in a more meaningful way. There's definitely a lot of capacity for tank improvements that would really mesh well with infantry.

    I think watercraft would add a fun dynamic, of course. I love being on the water and can think of some interesting applications... I honestly feel like the best way to do this would be a DLC like Helos, as was said before. The amount of work that would go into this would definitely require financial compensation, and I think there would be many people willing to buy into something similar to Helos.
  6. I feel like Spintires is brought up a lot when people mention terrain deformation in Arma. It runs off of the Havok engine. I found a little blog post about how it works, which basically boils down to the terrain having a density set by the engine and the object on top of it causes the terrain's mesh to subdivide and simulate interaction with said object. https://alexgolen.wordpress.com/2013/12/09/spin-tires-and-havok-physics-engine/

    What Makes a Good Arma Campaign?

    A lot of my votes count for the more storytelling aspects of a campaign. So stuff like characters (having guys other than Billy Badass from SEAL Team 60 whose sole character trait is... uh... uh...), the dialogue and interactions, the narrative aspect, etc. I like the campaigns to have a story unfold because at the end of the day, the cool missions can be tied into something bigger and that makes them even more cool. It's like watching a movie... you can have all the dope action scenes you want but the plot can be horrible and turn you off from it. To side with that, I included cliches and immersion into the choice. Those are definitely things that can detract from the narrative if done wrong.

  9. Inshallah I should be bringing my gaming computer back with me to the barracks. Unfortunately I'm finishing up Air Assault School right now and going to a month in the field in two weeks so I'll have my plate full until August. I'm hoping to get right back on track, especially after Apex's goodies have been announced

    AFAIK there are three competitors for the ULCV program. The DAGOR, the Flyer, and some sort of third model that I forget the name of. We'll probably narrow it down within the next few years depending on how screwy our acquisitions program wants to be.
  15. I currently can't because I live in a military prison college without access to my stuff, but somewhere around the last page there should be a few PBOs that fix stuff that's updated since I left last June.Look for PolyG's post.
  16. I could appreciate more permutations of existing equipment. Gun trucks, flatbed Hunters, things like that. Stuff that can enhance gameplay options without being too much effort or change to put in.

    At least from a stylistic perspective (which is generally what I approach video games with because I at least consider some aspects of them to be art), you can lampshade the problems with existing systems away. Especially if it's a fictional system based off of an existing weapon. "Oh, uh, it's the BCR. Kind of like the ACR but they fixed all the problems or it never had the problems to begin with in the Armaverse."

    I think we may have had the F2000 as like, a potential replacement for the M4 way back in the ancient times or something but then didn't pursue it. I'm not positive. I thought it would've been cool to see some sort of modernized XM8. The MX looked very "plain", if that makes any sense. Why not go all the way if you're in the future environment?

    And remember that Tanoa is rich in rare earth minerals, so I suspect that they cal pull off the "small, rich country with a small but very developed military" card that Altis can't. What's in Altis? Beaches? Tourism won't pay for many shiny new guns. Oil or valuable minerals will.
  21. Why do these guys always have to be the Ultimate Sniper? I'm content with being a medium speed, some drag but I'm surrounded by all these Rangers and high speed operators!

    If anything, I'd assume they'd base a CSAT VTOL on existing heavy helicopter designs with some rotors added on. Like how the V280 looks like a VTOL Blackhawk.
