private servers are affected too?

A Tactical reload would be a nice feature. However as long as the system balanced the faster reload with the fact that there would be no magazine retention. I don't know if that's something the system could track properly with the possibility of 100+ players dropping empty mags around the island. Though I fully admit to not knowing a damn thing about programming. :-)

That is awesome to hear.

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION

Have Holographic sights work as they should. Meaning that when one is attached to a weapon the user has a the hologram appear for quick target acquisition. The proper use of them is for the operator to have one eye through the site and the other eye open so you don't lose your vision. The effect you get is that of what ever the hologram sight projects to the eye. As it stands EOtechs are less useful than red dot sight because they take up too much space on the screen when enabled. Basically the use of an EOtech should improve accuracy when firing with out iron sights. -
One feature i have always found "irksome" is topping off in FPS shooters. I can't blame people for doing it thought. In context of the game it tactically makes sense. But in reality this is a poor thing to do as you are discarding a magazine with ammunition in it to get a FMJ in there. Is there a mod that tracks how many rounds are in a mag rather than having the ammo count magically adjust to remaining mags you carry? I've looked to see if ARMA series offers this feature but I can't find anything. This may sound like something that is a bit of a nit pick thing but I'm all about being drawn into the "experience" of a game.

What the first thing I should do when I get Arma?

I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with the game yet. I'd love to get together with friends and like minded people and play large scale operations in Coop or PvP. Not really a fan of TDM. Though i may give that a shot at some point I'm very much looking forward to working in a fire team. As long as I can get into a group of like minded players and play as a unit I will be happy. -
In about a week I will be buying my brandie brand new gaming PC. And the first thing I plan on doing is spending an insane amount of time diving into Arma. I've been obsessed with playing this damn game since hearing about its premise. But now I'm faced with a dilemma. What should I do first? Should foolishly jump straight into the biggest coop game i can find and see how long i last? Should I toy around with the campaign? Mess around with vehicles? Weapons and attachments? To give myself some background the only exposure I've had to anything close to this type of game was the OFP port to Ps3 and since most console gamers are COD fans and such that experience didn't end well. I've seen a bunch of ShackTacs videos and other game play videos and the level of community support this game seems to have was enough for me to invest in a new rig and make my return to PC after more than a decade awa

I like the idea of jams. But what would be the process of clearing the weapon. You'd have to make it engaging. One thing that would probably make something like that pointless is if it is an auto correct kinda thing. The situation it could put players in would be a great lesson in covering and communication. In reality for a trained operator it would only take a few seconds to go through the steps to clear the weapon. I think (if memory serves) there are three different steps to clearing a jamed weapon such as a M16. Weapon doesn't fire? Rack the weapon again and clear the possible bad round also check the brass. Does the weapon fire? Remove magazine. Rack weapon and finger bang the mag well to remove any deformed or jammed rounds. Slap mag back in, rack the weapon and fire. I think having these steps could give the player something else to do other than just shooting at people. I would say link it to a reload button that is held and a second key held at the same time to initiate the weapon check. The safety feature could be a really good feature. It forces the player to be more aware of their weapon in general. Now I say this having only played Arma 2 for a few seconds on a friends laptop. So if these features already exist I didn't encounter them.

As a person who is just getting into Arma and PC gaming in general I will say that i am hoping to get away from the knife button. I've never understood how a scratch from a knife kills instantly while a .45 round just hurts. MAG was the first game of the last generation on console to try and balance the knife aspect. Making it only kill from the flank. But still people insisted on circling each other swinging knives. WHY!? The army (or PMC in this case) gave you a perfectly functioning fire arm to shoot someone with.

I would think that the people at the top are smart enough to know that while their people may think them immortal, they know full well they aren't.
