    Conventional Combat Emphasis

I'm hoping the missions you do have direct effect on your tactical situation. For example, destroying a tank depot or an artillery dump would then have a predetermined effect on the enemies' available equipment or support.
  2. Even if it is true that BIS decided to promise features, and has now decided to remove them, that doesn't mean we, the expectant consumers of ARMA 3, should get up in arms about it. With in mind, BIS has no obligation to keep us informed on a day-by-day basis of what is and what is not going into the game. In fact, I see this thread as a reason to keep us more in the dark, if only to avoid these hysterical reactions to small pieces of news.
  3. I would like to see the option of performing a "tank desant." This is the (albeit, outdated) practice of infantry riding on top of armor to increase infantry mobility. It isn't used anymore as a typical tactic since the introduction of IFVs, APCs, etc. but war isn't typical!

Side weapons on fixed wing aircraft

I'm just imagining the over-use of air power in every domination server with a fully working "Spooky" AC-130. Of course, don't think I wouldn't want it in the game. I would love to see a fully functioning AC-130 in Arma!

What is the first thing you will do in Arma3?

Probably spend hours in the shooting ranges and CQB courses.
  6. I agree it should look realistic, but I am more interested in the realism of the physical effect of the explosion. If they nail that then I can handle the generic ball o' fire explosion.

    Is Arma3 still the "Flagship"

It seems, to me, to be overly reactionary to see the creation of a single development team as a reason to believe that BI is relegating ARMA 3 to the margins in order to make DayZ their main product. "The [DayZ] project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price." In no way can this mean that DayZ is now the main focus. It means that there is a dedicated team working on improvements to the game at a fairly fast (compared to most development cycles), yet steady rate. Community involvement and input helps the devs find bugs. If I could make a psychological guess as to where this fear comes from, I would say it comes from the same instinct that makes a family anxious and nervous before a baby is born.
  8. The Iraq army was still using the T-34 in the Gulf War, and there were T-34's being used in the Bosnian War as well. It's not as crazy as you might think. While they may be outdated, they can be restored, even when kept in awful conditions, such as the bottom of a lake in Estonia. http://www.mil.hiiumaa.ee/2000_09_14_kurtna_T-34-36/

    CQB??

I was talking about AI units moving up and down ladders, I'm pretty sure they can't do that in Arma 2. Sorry, I thought the point of the thread was general AI improvements with regard to moving through buildings, and a lot of the new buildings I've seen have ladders. Perhaps my comments belong somewhere else.

    AI Voices

You can already divide your squad/platoon into teams in Arma 2. Then instead of "1,2,3,4 go to that house" the leader says "Team Red, go to that house" or "Team Blue, go to that car." Or did you mean AI leaders?

    AI Voices

I'm not bothered by the voices in the game. I'd prefer they spent their time on AI, or animations, or the physics engine. The voices do what they need to do, which is transfer orders and information in a succinct manner. I'd much rather hear "2, Taking Fire!" than "I'm getting f***ed in the ass over here!" (a la BF3).

    CQB??

There were some new screenshots posted exclusively on PC Gamer that show Iranian marksmen in a guard tower, perhaps the AI can now go up and down ladders and into buildings? This is just an assumption.
  13. I'm happy enough with the introduction of interchangeable weapon accessories and dynamic body armor and ballistic helmets, as well as the more dynamic fatigue system. I doubt the ballistics of the actual bullets being fired will be very different from ARMA 2. One question though, are the under slung attachments (m203, etc.) the same as barrel and scope modifications, as in, can I swap out a m203 for a foregrip as easily as I can swap from a holo sight to an acog sight? I haven't seen this demonstrated yet, although I have seen barrel and scope mods demonstrated. I am pretty much ecstatic that weapon mods are becoming interchangeable. One of my favorite features of the STALKER games was the interchangeable mods.
  14. Has anyone heard about a dynamic system for controlling the tides of the ocean? It seems to me that a tactical beach assault by a dive team would be facilitated by moving out of the surf as the tide goes out. Or maybe it would be better to move out of the water when the tide is higher in order to cross less open ground (I don't know, I'm clearly not a Navy SEAL). Of course this also begs the question of whether there will be wave action, wave currents, undertow, and all the other physical effects of water moving around a big piece of land like Limnos (e.g.: rip tide currents). It seems to me that this would be very complicated to implement. Please let me know if this belongs in a different thread.

    Opinions on manual gun cocking?

The reason I liked the manual bolting in red orchestra 2 was the ability to fire a bullet then stab with the bayonet without having to wait for the automatic bolting animation to finish. It saved my life more than a few times in close quarters encounters. Since I see no intent to add bayonets to ARMA, I don't think they should add it if it will have no effect on game play (since there is no melee combat).
