Aww nice! And I thought my 3A*7A's was good... Hate to break it to you but it won't get easier until you reach University :p

Ah yes the GCSE/A-levels day :P So glad I got that crap out of the way already. So... what did everybody get? :)

Like Fluttershy said, it's really hard to tell so we're not going to throw out a percentage and get everyone's hopes up/down. At this stage we're still brainstorming more and more contents that we can put in, team members trying out new things (remember addon makings is also about giving developers a chance to experiment and wander outside their comfort zone) etc.. Personally I'm really excited about what we've got in store currently and are planning to do, that's all I'm gonna say. For those of you (if any) are still interested in the blog, sorry about the delay, we haven't forgotten about it!

AVS is a bit... progressive/edgy :p Anyway this is all getting abit technical and pedantic to those who aren't as enthusiastic towards 100% accuracy and just want some rangers. Peeps, we will make stuff that is confirmed and regularly used by whatever unit we're doing. That doesn't mean things that look similar to what the unit use or based on speculations.

While I agree with you, it may be too much work to have to create entire garments (like the Real tree top) just because one guy out of hundreds of SEALs wore it so happened to be captured on camera. I'm sure there are tons of self bought civilian gear in circulation it's not really feasible to do all the items just because X wore Y once. :(

Are you serious? Modding is pretty much ArmA's selling point, I was taken into the ArmA series by the amount of mods already available and Oh yeah, what's that YOUR server is running? DayZ? Isn't that the MOD that help ArmA achieve a million more sales by reinventing the game as something competely unique and different?

Great ref pics, really really useful! Thanks dude :) I agree 2011 style Rangers would looks awesome but due to the amount of ArmA 2 (yeah not A3 I know) Rangers addons using the older Ranger stuff, we'd really like to try out something different. And also thanks to all the other peeps for their words of encouragement, unfortunately our team is going through a temporary phase where we're all busy with RL issues but that'll all lift real soon. Just out of interest, how many of you really care about the authenticity of weaponry/gear our planned unit will used? (and if yes do you want these units to be based on real solid tangible sources or educated speculations?) - JP

Mini update 23-07-2013 Hey BI-Folks, I'd like to apologise on behalf of the SOC team for the lack of update but don't confuse this with the lack of work behind the scenes :) We're hard at work brainstorming ways we could keep you wierdos in loop of what goes on in the background, some of are suggestions are.. - Myspace blog? no - Tumblr account? GOD NO! - Blogspot? Hmm bingo .. that's more like it Binks is just finalising minor details on the Blog so it's only a matter of days before going live. From there you will be able to track what each of us are currently working on in greater detail, ability to get close to members and ask questions and most importantly you'll be able to soak in our inane and often pretentious musings on life and its meaning. (and possibly alpha/beta tests too!) Anyway since it's mandatory to sign off a legitimate update with some progress screens, here's a pair of Peltor comtac 3s we've been working on, widely issued and popular within the US Special Forces community :) JP out

NSW Units & Gear (Retex.)
jefferspang replied to HorbeySpector's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Good job dude! ^^ NWU-3's lookin' especially really good -
Part of me wants to support Australia (being a Aussie citizen aside), they're now the underdog so seeing them win is certainly much more exciting :) It's really sad to see the current squad's such as far cry from the old (Ponting Hussey Katich etc...) lineup edit - 2nd Test Match Oh dear Australia  What a collapse..
-
ohh yeaah! ^^ Although I was convinced that Haddin didn't edge it, the hotspot looks like it was the sticker from his bat but that's just the low-quality of my tv :P
-
Really cool work Ast ^^ Thanks for the release! :)
-
edit - Quite close now, will reserve judgement until the test is over :P

Big barmy fan here but I have to say I ached when Agar missed out on his century :( edit - oh god how did Aleem Dar miss Broad's edge :O
-
Thanks man, I know there are tons of USA special forces already out there but there are people (certainly guys in the team) who notice and appreciate the subtle difference between ours and the rest. If you're not a big fan of US SF, there are lots of international units addons in development/already out so it's not like you're not forced to try out our creations in the future :D
-
Thanks for the ref pics mate :) I'm a big fan of the OIF era SFOD-D, but since there's so much to do, we can't promise anything ;)
-
Hmm.. Eagle APC, LBT, Crye? I must admit this is quite a surprise to me, I've only ever based my work on open source/publically released images but if you guys have any evidence that would indicate that there is more to that then we would really appreciate the help :) edit - Thanks PN11A, I didn't realize the multicam version of Eagle pouches are given a completely different kit name. Will note this down

Thanks for the feedback :) I'm aware that a medley of PTTs (including the Peltor PTT) is in use, but as I've mentioned before, many of the more intricate details will be done at a later stage. The ones on the SFLCS MBAV at the moment look like hand mic but are actually the new Silynx C4OPS Wireless PTTs being tested by various SF units.

Update 20-07-2013 For those of you who have been following our discussion lately, you would've known we're currently focusing on making US Army Rangers as the first SOC project. The team's been toiling in the background to try and create detailed and accurate weapons and gears (although we may not get it 100% spot on) based on 2012-early 2013 era Rangers, we hope it'll be worth it (for both you guys and us) in the end. For the past week, we've been focusing on completing the basic base models for various gear and setting a foundation before diving into the more intricate loadout details. Firstly I'd like to introduce the AN/AVS-9 (Or Aviator Night Vision goggles 9), these NVGs were originally created in the 1992 specifically for Aviator's usage. However over the years it found its way into the hands of the US Special Forces community. Despite being around for so long, it's remained a favorite amoungst many Special Operations troops, especially in the US Army (Green Berets, Rangers and Delta force) due to the Low Profile Battery Pack's ability to balance the ANVIS weight. Next up are the more common, PVS-15 dual tube night vision goggles. Compared the the ANVIS-9, the PVS-15 feature a more compact design with batteries built underneath the Wilcox mount shoe, eliminating the need for clunky external batteries or snag hazards such as the battery wire. Now the FAST Maritime helmet designed by Ops-Core is a relatively interesting piece of gear. Traditionally, Rangers were seen as more of a Special Operations capable shock troop. However recently, SOCOM's order of FAST Maritime helmets for the US Army Rangers is an indication of the shift in role of the US Army Rangers from special operations support to standalone direct action raids. The FAST Maritime has only been unveiled at the recent SHOTSHOW 2013 expo, but it's already proving itself popular amongst the Special Operations community. Lastly, we've got the SFLCS MBAV manufactured by Eagle Industries. Adopted at around 2011, the SFLCS MBAV were issued mainly in Khaki and it signifies a change from the more iconic Ranger Green camo used around 2007-2010 on US Army Ranger gears. Please note that the MBAV is only a small part of a more complete SFLCS kit (which includes pouches etc..) given to Rangers. Thank you for taking the time to read and feel free to post any suggestions/constructive criticism below, we'll be more than happy to answer :) Thank you for the offer, we will most definitely disturb you in the near future ;) - JP

Dudes, posting condolences are nice and all but please try and not turn this thread into a flood of RIP messages :)

Yeah you're right guys, looks very familiar to Remington rails.. but here's a clue, USSOCOM just put in a massive order for modular rails, the ones issued to the Navy dudes are manufactured by Remington and the ones issued to the Army guys are made by another, smaller company (the one that was in my sig). Anyway that was meant to be the new Surefire M720V flashlight, don't know why it came out blurred, I didn't do that :P

haha I think ItsThomas' just having a light hearted poke at your interest in this mod ;)
