Yeah, I'm sure everyone knows it already, but the radio communications sound so flat and robotic in ArmA. From all the footage I've seen of firefights I have never heard soldiers speak like this. BF3 comms have a more human quality to them. I know, "but BF doesn't have as many variations as ArmA". It still needs more improvement and hopefully the changes between A2 and OA are a good sign that they will do even more work in this department. From people I know who didn't really get into ArmA the static (and borderline annoying) comms were a major turn off. tl;dr AI radio speech needs to sound alot more casual and fluent to give it a more human (realistic) quality. Soldiers don't speak like robots! my two cents.

Yeah exactly. It actually sounds like a pretty interesting conference from what I've read. Apparently the theme is about FPS and how games have influenced film over the years. If only I was in CZ right now. :p

Apparently the conference starts at 21:00. I assume that's CET. Not sure when BIS demo will be but the conference runs for two hours. Not sure if we'll even see anything from it unless it's from BIS themselves or theres a devout Arma fan there with a camera.

@Gezzer action menu is mousewheel or ] [ keys. My advice is just go into the editor. Place some units, ammo boxes, vehicles or whatever (double-click map and look through the drop-down menus) click preview and just F around until you start to get the hang of it. I found just experimenting was the best (and most fun) way to learn. Best of luck mate, it can be frustrating at times but well worth it and I promise you'll enjoy it more than BF3 BFBC3 in the end.:)

@Crispis: This is VBS2 though. It still runs VR2 doesn't it? So maybe just wait for VBS2 2.0 for graphics improvements. Instead of going from scratch with a new engine (which doesn't have an SDK yet AFAIK). Anyway this is still a different game from different dev's. As far as ArmA2/VR3 goes it has some of the nicest textures I've seen in a game. Huge maps, tons of toys, thousands of mods/addons. The lighting/physical simulation leaves something to be desired but is being worked on for Arma3/VR4. I guess the learning curve, can be a turn off to some people but that's something that is also being worked on for A3 apparently. I guess to sum it up it probably won't be as much trouble for people to get into ArmA3 as it was any previous titles. Only time will tell.

Just because I can't stop gawking: I havn't noticed any problems with SOM Tactical airstrikes. Call 'em lase 'em... aaand boom. Will keep trying to break it but works fine for me so far (using ACE2 SOFLAM). I hanv't tried Vanilla but I've had it screw up on me on Takistan and Chernarus many times so pretty sure it's a BIS bug and not a map thing (i'm no expert though:confused:). Thanks again McNools. @antoineflemming if you havn't tried it yet the dynamic snow (mild) gamelogic that comes with NiM weather addon also looks great in the inner valley for that desert winter feel.:D -

The Civillian Interaction Module by Nielsen is a pretty good mod for dealing with surrendering AI. It has alot of other nice features concerning the handling and detainment of Enemy/Civilian AI. Armaholic Link
