I.m using 'Razer Surround' driver/software thru my cheapo wallmart headphones. This explains how the software works: Comes with an 8-band graphic EQ. Razer mouse owners have the software in the mouse suite. Bit of a hassle signing up to the cloud, but once installed, can go 'off-line' no problem.

Yes, can change 'feild-of-view', fov thru config file. There's a user made program for arma2 that also works. Do a search. I've got zoom-out on my joystick's slider. Then there's the 'stack of quarters on the key' trick.

Any steam content downloaded? Search: %APPDATA%\..\local\arma 3\SteamMissionsCache --delete any stuff you find there. Search: %APPDATA%\..\local\arma 3\MPMissionsCache --again, delete. Once you get the game to start, unsubscribe all steam content. Launch direct arma3.exe. Good Luck!

Disconnects could be a network problem, "null time-out", or power setting, or overheating.., or..., or. Maybe try playing using "GameBooster3", it shows temps and uses custom power settings. Ok, ingame comms also send on 'direct' --if you're standing close enough to eachother to hear direct, you'll hear both the radio and direct.

Speakers or headphones? Speakers can and will feedback a loop.

Bionic ears in 1p, why? --And why nerf easymode for the 3p guys? I find 1p footsteps still too loud --can hear footsteps a long way off, if he's in fast-pace. I don't play 3p. May as well be some other game. 3p in none of my business --they can fart nades at eachother all i care.

Does it matter? 3p is anything but realistic. It's just 3rd person easy-mode. Play 1st person on 1st person servers.

There is an ingame command to limit frames: Hold down [shift] and [-], release then type, fps. Do it once to cap at 60fps, twice to cap at 40fps.

Did the OP smell something burning? Short of a fan failure, doubtful. Tho bios failsafe temp is worth looking at if set too low.

Yeah, thinking power settings too --hot cpu will freeze the game, but not turn the pc off. "GameBooster3" uses a gamer profile for power settings --can google to do it yourself. GL!

King of the hill is a polished and popular pvp mode. Considering it requires no mods, runs well, and is admin'ed by able volunteers --their success is earned. Koth servers are a good starting point for new pvp players --and as good a place as any for vets to improve their skills. Great place for helo pilots. Not to mention the persistant database lends it a mmo feel. Hundreds play koth every day. Many will go on to harder TvT in other servers. PvP is all about meeting new people --and killing them. AI are poor replacements. King of the Hill's success proves there is a keen interest for pvp, TvT, in arma3. The koth team deserves our thanks.

Could try hdr=0 to see. View distance & object distance are very important frame-wise. I stay under 1000m. as a rifleman. AntiAliasing, AA, eats frames --i got my ingame at 2x. Don't think so. Moreover, the 'high prone' 3-point stance seems the same as crouch, for awhile now. High prone ought to be much more stable.
