Indeed. And, if I may offer my two cents, I've been using your addon pretty much religiously as of late, and I'm not seeing the kind of AI-mobbing tactics that are being described, either. I think the only time I ever really noticed it was when I was setting up a mission as a member of a platoon of troops that kept finding some... unexpected air support from a friendly helo that was supposed to simply fly past us, move a few kilometers north, and then turn around and assist. It kept engaging early, I realized, because my AI buddies were reporting contacts to the helo, who I hadn't remembered to set to not engage until I needed it to. All it took was a change in behavior and a slightly altered waypoint to make things act as they should have. But even then, it was due to my mistake as a mission-maker, not the addon. If anything, ASR's AI-reporting is a LOT less invasive than, say... GL4's, who will indeed mob the first contact they run into. Sure, they're more alert, and I need to think harder when I'm planning ingress routes and such, but I haven't yet had a mission, vanilla or otherwise, ruined by the AI radio net.
-
I'm pretty sure you can just disable that in the userconfig file for ASR, by setting //asr_ai_sys_aiskill_radionet = 1; to 0 instead of 1. That disables the info sharing between AI squads.

ArmA 2 OA Beta Build 82489
DiscountAnubis replied to manzilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Hmm... now THIS is a poser. Generating about two or three FPS less than the last beta in Benchmark E08, but overall performance is, if anything, smoother! (54-54-52 as opposed to 56-58-56) System is a stock Gateway FX6840-03e, all graphical settings are set to normal, with shadows on "High" and AA and Anistrophic filtering disabled. -
Ah, so what you're saying is, Everon is like every other beautiful girl I've ever met- Gorgeous, but if I look at 'er the wrong way, she wants nothing to do with me! XD Story of my dating life aside, I'm running a fairly decent system, ("decent" being a relative term, it's a stock Gateway FX6840-03e that is about a year old and probably due for a few upgrades) I mean, I can run the island itself at a pretty consistent 55-60 FPS even in the midst of a particularly intense firefight, but this wouldn't be the first time it turned out to be due to some weird quirk my system shared with the minority of rigs out there. Whatever the case, Everon is STILL one of my favorite islands, ever since I first set foot on it many years ago, proudly disembarking from that UH-60 and proceeding to shoot my entire squad in the back in what would be a long and proud history of friendly fire incidents throughout my OFP and ArmA career. As such, I'm glad to hear you're already on the case, Bushlurker, and I've got no doubt in my mind that you'll do an excellent job, no doubt assuring my ability to misidentify and accidentally shoot my comrades in the limbs in the general vicinity of Montignac for a long time to come!

I'll do that right now. Thanks for the clarification! Such insidious wheat. Clearly conspiring with the enemy! Between this and the Soviets with an identity crisis, I just don't know who to trust anymore! D:< EDIT- Done and done. Sorry if there's anything incorrect on the ticket, it's literally the first I've ever made, given that I only made my DH account roughly... fifteen minutes ago. If anything else suspect pops up in the course of play, I'll be sure to post it there from now on. Again, much obliged.

Hey, got a bit of a problem here, and I'm trying to figure out if it's something on my end, or if it's a genuine issue with one of the mod's maps. Obviously, if it's the former, it probably doesn't need reporting, so I'd appreciate it if one of you could tell me what you think. I was just messing around in the editor, setting up a mission in Montignac, (Everon, that is, but I'd imagine you've already figured that out) when I noticed that I was encountering a very large FPS drop when my character was facing a certain direction. At first, I just thought it was because the game was acting funky, but I was able to successfully replicate the drop in FPS and the choppiness that followed every time I looked at the same spot, and I think I've found the cause. Just north of Montignac, right next to the church, there's a patch of land that appears to be farmland or the like, on which there's a large amount of what appear to be wheat growing. Seeing as it's every time I look at this wheat that my FPS becomes so horrid, is it possible that the model that was used for the stuff is somehow causing rendering problems, or is my normally-decent computer somehow allergic to gluten? I'd have posted this issue on the bugtracker, but as I'm still trying to determine if it's a problem on my end or not, I didn't want to create a ticket until it was absolutely certain that I'm not overlooking something going haywire (pardon the pun, couldn't resist) with my system. Any thoughts?

You're quite welcome! And best of luck with your research! @Rhaggan- Just so we're clear, you mean Operation BARMA, as in the mine-clearing op? -
Addon Research Topic 2
DiscountAnubis replied to max power's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Well, here are a couple articles, one- ( http://www.military-today.com/tanks/oplot_m.htm ) which includes a few turnaround shots of the Oplot-M in full, and another ( http://www.army-guide.com/eng/article/article.php?topicID=1140&forumID=1144&page=last ) which has a pretty decent, if slightly small, profile shot. There's also this- ( http://www.military-informer.narod.ru/GAimages/minit-oplot.gif ) somewhat-simple side drawing. It gives, at the very least, an idea of the overall shape of the thing, but not much else. In addition, here are a few closer-up shots of the tank, (front 3/4 and rear 3/4, respectively) ( http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2491/ukrainskiczolgoplotm.jpg ) ( http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/2374/2009042822479817.jpg ) Also found a Youtube video of the thing, if that helps- ( )From what I can tell, the most iconic aspect of the Oplot-M as opposed to the original T-84 Oplot model is the prominent panoramic sight on the top, so I'm fairly certain all the material provided is from the -M, but if you need anything else, I'd be happy to dig a little deeper! (Also, if for any strange reason, something doesn't load for you, lemme know, and I'll try to host it myself. Customer service is the most important part of any delivery business, after all!) -
Thanks for the link! I'm happy to say that, after some preliminary testing, I can't replicate the FFAR crash. Whatever you did, Jarhead, it seems to have worked, so, kudos! Another job well done! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to collapse into my bed. Should NOT be gaming at two in the morning...

If I'm not mistaken, you can get rid of Duala's loading screens by removing the PBO files that say something to the effect of "DualaUI.pbo" or something like that. I'd have to re-download the pack to get the exact name, but trust me- you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. I think Tup's map has a similar file as well, but for Blastcore and CBA, I don't think it's quite so simple, unfortunately. EDIT- "ui_duala.pbo" is the file. Remove that, and the loading screens go with it.

Yeah, that seems like the best plan. 'Course, now I'm curious at what could have possibly caused it! My best guess? Gremlins. Or Aliens. Possibly even Bigfoot, in some sort of collaboration with the Loch Ness monster, all funded by an (evil) clone of Elvis Presley. Did I mention I'm REALLY bad at error-hunting? But, anywho, thanks for the prompt reply, and don't work yourself too hard! At the end of the day, JSRS is STILL one of the absolute best soundmods out there, (if not the most complete) and I hope I speak for most people here when I say that you've done a fantastic job with it! It's obvious a lot of love went into this project, and that's something that deserves a lot of respect. If you were here in Arizona, (Not recommended, it's currently 116 degrees Fahrenheit here, and the scorpions are territorial) I'd gladly buy you a drink!

Hey, no big deal, man; computers exploding is a problem I'm all too familiar with. (Far... FAR too familiar with. And usually MY fault, but that's a different story for a different time.) Strange thing about the FFAR crash is, it doesn't happen with 100% regularity. Sometimes it acts just like it should, other times (possibly when there's a lot of action, like in the Armory or, in my experience, during an Evolution mission) I'll get off about six-to-eight shots before there's a crash. The only thing that seems to be common to the crashes is that A) It's always when I fire multiple rockets in a short period of time and B) it usually happens when there are other units on the map besides myself. I'm no expert on coding or the sound system integrated into the game, but perhaps something about the frequent replaying of the sound is overloading it, somehow? Wish I could elaborate better, but I'm afraid error-hunting isn't my cup of tea. I'm more of the "Smash things together until they stick" sort. XD

British 'Bulldog' APC
DiscountAnubis replied to cleggy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Weird, I was just thinking about this addon not ten minutes ago. XD DL-ing now, will have feedback and/or lamentations of my horrid driving skills ASAP! EDIT- Well, I can see why they chose to name it the "Bulldog": It's ornery, it's mean, and it's got a face only a mother could love. I think I'm smitten. XD But seriously; the addon runs flawlessly on my end, the texturing and modeling work is excellent, and there's nothing quite like playing around with a platoon of them in the editor, chugging over the Takistani hillside like a pack of particularly angry, khaki-colored warthogs. I think this little... er... "beauty" of a machine is going to be on my hard drive for a LONG time. Really excellent work! -
Three's a crowd, but I also get crashes when firing FFARs with JSRS 1.32. Seems only to be FFARs, though; I can go crazy with the Russian equivalent to my heart's content, and there's not so much as a hiccup. Everything else works like a charm, though, but it's definitely something worth looking into.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 82448
DiscountAnubis replied to pauliesss's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I can also confirm that texture loading seems a bit less jarring with this patch, and the FPS, while one or two FPS lower for me than it was with Beta 81921, (The last Beta I was using regularly, as every Beta between it and this one has actually resulted in lower FPS and more 'stuttering' overall for my system) the framerate seems to be a LOT smoother, with less micro-stuttering or odd hang-ups. On E08 I average around 55 FPS, and that's with AA and Anisotropic Filtering off, pretty much everything else set to "Normal". If you're wondering, my system specs are as follows- I think my only gripe is that the load times seem to have increased a bit, but it's not all that noticeable, and probably has more to do with my woefully slow hard drive. All-in-all, though, I can definitely confirm this is a step in the right direction. -
Thank you! You know how it is, you post for the first time on a forum and a part of you expects the reception to be... less-than-genial. Should have known better, I suppose, but I digress. XD I don't know how you folks do it, but even your accidents are awesome! At first, I was wondering how the heck a buncha Russian soldiers stuck in the middle of nowhere on a fictional island chain had managed to steal jackets from a fictional force from an equally-fictional landmass that also happened to be a few dozen years in the future, but it really just added to their allure, if you ask me! I mean, what OTHER force is badass enough to steal from the future? Not many! Ah, but now, I'm gushing like a schoolgirl. Though it saddens me that the Cherna-Russians (Oh-hoho. So clever.) were not meant to be, I thank you for the answer!

Takistani Extension
DiscountAnubis replied to wld427's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
That has to be the... second most beautiful assortment of kit in desert-y camo I have ever had the good fortune of seeing! ...'course, the FIRST one happens to be PRACS, so I'd call this an overall win. Can't wait to see them in action! -
Aww- and here, I LIKED the fancy-clothed Russians! Even with their strange camo and vaguely CDF-esque jackets. I just assumed Guba had finally shelled out for some decent threads for his peon- er- loyal soldiers... But, seriously, I hate to be "that brand-new guy who asks a bunch of questions in his very first post" (Because those TOTALLY exist), but if you don't mind me asking, are there future plans for the oddly-kitted fellows you just patched out, or were they just a... happy accident? I kinda grew attached to them in the... day-or-so they existed. XD
