A3 Free Aim - small mod that fixes mouse sensitivity in-game, a must-have for me, can't play without it ASDG Joint Rails - a requirement for many weapon mods, unites different weapon mods under one roof to make weapon attachments compatible with all of them DFS Third Person - changes the camera position while in third person, can't play without it, can't stand people who don't use it, either Dynamic Movement - small mod that allows to jump over obstacles while moving and also jump down from second floors of buildings or any other object of same height without breaking one's legs L Climb - allows climbing over fences and all kinds of obstacles LKR Ammo custom configs - doesn't work anymore, but used to be a must for me; changes bullet damage MRB A3 Voice Stop - prevents the AI from talking, making them react faster, and also making playable characters stay silent Recoil Fix - self explanatory RJJ Agile Helicopters - changes the way helicopters handle, very nice little mod Saku Weapon Shake - makes your camera shake a little when firing, pretty cool effect TAW View Distance - allows to change view distance and grass draw distance on the fly, can't live without this mod TEN Switch Weapons While Moving - self explanatory, allows you to bind a key for switching weapons, works while moving, gets rid of that awful animation lag, that's in the game by default VTS Weapon Resting - emulates weapon resting on all kinds of surfaces, very useful and that's not counting all the vehicle and weapons mods. IMO, all of the above should have been implemented in the game a long time ago. oh, I completely forgot: LEA - the name speaks for itself, Loadout Editor - a must-have, such a time saver, I hate people that don't allow it on their servers for whatever reason.

it's hard not to bitch, when a game that is sold at full price, game that has been released for a year, is still in such an unstable state
-
that's pretty far fetched, it would be nice, sure, but did BIS ever even hint at adding weapon resting?
-
Alive and A3MP being a requirement I wouldn't say that's addon free ;)

Burnes Armories Tanks and Deployment Vehicles

no to rain on your parade or anything, but until today I've never even heard of CUP, and I check these forums daily. maybe you're overestimating the popularity of this CUP just a tad -
hmm, I really like these sounds. and the textures, too. though, I think having so many textures is a bit counterproductive. black/woodland/desert/arctic would've been more than enough. in your next project you maybe shouldn't do so much work

Is Arma 3 a reasonable replacement for Arma 2?
sorophx replied to DavidCastle's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Insurgency already does a lot of the stuff they are promising in Ground Branch. the only thing Insurgency is missing is SP missions, but they have COOP against AI on their PvP maps, at least -
don't encourage him

to add to EvanCat's post, a replacement config is a file that overrides in-game files, you just define a new path to unit/item models for the respective units/items you want changed. you pack your file as a pbo along with all the needed models, launch the game with it activated as a mod, and your items in the game have different models, but only visible to you. so it's clientside only, and people don't have to have it to be able to play with you on the same server
-
with the next stable patch Arma 3 weapon configuration files will be different. they added new classes, so you'll need to rewrite it. there's an entry about it on the biki: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Weapon_Config_Guidelines#Muzzle_accessories
-
that's true, from my experience. most coop sessions happen behind closed doors, where it's easier to filter out assholes. not to say you can't get a good experience on a public server, but in Arma 3 it's a bit harder to find
-
that's amazing...
-
I like the sounds, though you're not the first I see complaining about them. also, while these textures aren't the best, they beat 90% of all the weapon mods for Arma 3. the models are great, that's what I like the most about it. and stopping power is dependent on the magazine, not the weapon. meh, to each their own I guess

Chernarus as error-free vanilla addon/DLC for Arma 3

I don't think BIS can stop you from doing it now if you own both games. if you can make it happen, for personal use (or someone else can make it for you). -
Is Arma 3 a reasonable replacement for Arma 2?
sorophx replied to DavidCastle's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
not like in Arma 3 animations are a lot better. units look stiff, it's especially noticeable on transitions from one animation to another. I'm tired of seeing my unit sliding on the ground with his feet not moving -
in Arma 2 it used to really affect performance. but as far as I know in Arma 3 they did some optimization work, and static objects aren't calculated by default (they don't send messages about themselves to the server). so, in theory, it shouldn't matter how many object you put down as long as you don't go crazy with it. buildings and structures will still affect performance, though

balancing sides isn't really what Ama is about. in real life nobody balances anybody. in Afghanistan the mujahedin don't even have body armor, and they still go out and fight the ISAF now, would it be possible for two sides of a conflict to keep up with each other in terms of equipment in 2035? developing new solutions as soon as the enemy would adopt them? that's another question entirely. as for the technical side of your question, for infantry it's easily solvable: make units on both sides wear the same body armor ;)

I agree about the attachments, I never use weapons that already have something attached to them. the inventory icons denoting what attachments the gun has are useful, but in the end, not needed. I can see if the weapon has attachments in my inventory, and on the ground they're visible on the gun model itself

did you see there was an update in Arma for muzzle devices? you have to rewrite your configs conforming with the new standard

The Unsung Vietnam War Mod V 2.6 Release
sorophx replied to sgt_savage's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I would argue that just abandoning your retail customers, or forcing them to use yet another DRM (in the form of Steam) to be able to get the new patch is hardly progress. yes, BIS isn't to blame GameSpy went tits up, but just substituting it with Steam wasn't the answer. a lot of players boycotted Arma 3 because of Steam, and now the game they were perfectly satisfied with is also being pushed to Steam. this will only divide already split Arma community even more. BIS should've known better. and you shouldn't be defending their bad decisions -
Imagine What Next Gen In Arma Would Look Like

hm, I have to admit it didn't sound that way in Dean's interview, but at this point it's anyone's guess what could happen next with both games. -
to tell you the truth, as a person who spent 3 years making missions, using DAC + CBA patrol functions, I am intimidated by ALiVE when I look at the various tutorials for it. somehow it looks even more complicated than DAC, and DAC had to be configured manually for the most part. maybe that's just the impression I get, and in reality it's not that hard. by I can't find it in me to sit down and try to figure out how ALiVE works. especially since it seems to become a requirement for each connecting player if you use it (correct me if I'm wrong) but that's my point exactly, there's no effort on the part of BIS. they just dump the same game with updated graphics and several new features on us, and we have to make heads or tails of their mess. how can anyone defend this kind of attitude towards their community? everyone knows Arma is only interesting to people because of its multiplayer. and yet BIS leaves all improvements to multiplayer on the back burner. exactly
