Slatts, I was hoping for an April Fools' joke, but that is really written in the page. Let's see what BIS will show us... -

No one was expecting that... I mean, it changed so suddenly... Congratulations to the lads there, and hoping to see the final product 2 years from now I suppose :) -
Max was only acting to keep up the joke people, so let's get back to the topic.

The russian PMC was mentioned earlier in the ARMA3 page, but after the ongoing revamping of the page any mention of it was deleted. -

I think it's dead, the deadline is too near. A bit OT: Reading all this about CQB gave me some inspiration to mod for SWAT3, will try to add the reticles on the weapon models (it's really easy, just need to edit the aiming animation to align the sights with the player view). Sadly, you need to type in a command in the console so the model shows up (why didn't they make it an out of the box feature?). First I need to find my old SWAT3 CDs... -
I have a feeling, don't know. Maybe in the Armaverse Tavors, Namers, and all israeli stuff was indeed created by Iran? Afterall, it's the Armaverse, so we get to play with these toys without binding ourselfs to the real world. This idea came to me after I started to wonder how the current and past wars would have been if the AR-18 was selected as the main service rifle in the US Armed Forces. So then I pratically created my own alternate reality, just like the Armaverse is, the BIS alternate reality.

Well, it was a joke in the joke (inception?) The irony was in the date, people expected a joke and got a sim/game from it. -

Yep, but as the saying: "If every fool wore a crown, we should all be kings." I'm just cautious, because some people like serious practical jokes on April Fools'. -

Nice pics ;) Not trying to to be annoying, but is there any place where we could check all the progress you guys made (apart from this very thread, of course, like a detailed topic [on any forum] or a site)? -

Man, that's really nice. CWR is, as a tribute to OFP, also a reinvention of the game. It's simply brillant! -

Really good shots of an AR180 here. I'm trying to find as good shots on the Phil Hart (wooden stock) variant, but only got these. ~~~~~~~~~~ EDIT (Sep 23rd) Really educational video about the AR180 (well, apart from the weight comparisson) and , by GunWebsites.~~~~~~~~~~~ EDIT (March 19th) I was going to make another post, but seeing the last post was mine anyways, I will use it again. Do someone have ANY information on the XM235/XM248. I'm not sure the pics I found are real, loosely based recreations or total fiction. Ideally, I would like a pic, even extreme lowres, but any information is welcome. I'm interested in obscure weaponry and wondering how the US Army small arms would be today if other candidates were chosen instead of the current ones. PS.: Just to make it clear, the XM235 (6mm) and then the XM248 (5.56mm) were candidates to the US Army SAW project. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ EDIT (April 4th) This site contains good overviews on russian weapons, deserves a look. Also, on the XM235/248, yeah, those were real pictures. Apparently, the M60 was used as a base to create those prototypes. -
Pre 2000 Games you´re still fond of playing
-GR-Operative replied to instagoat's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I used to play SWAT3 and AoEII, but now they are gone from my HD, now occupied by Ghost Recon and Rome: Total War (still old games, but not pre-2000). But I must say I had great fun with the older games. Here I include Freespace 2, Midtown Madness 2, Monstertruck Madness 2, Motoracer, AoE I, CoC: Red Alert, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, Army Men, SimCity3000, Combat Flight Simulator WWII Europe Series, Blood II, Wolfenstein 3D, Knights and Merchants: The Shattered Kingdom, Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, and so many others. Once in a while I revisit some of these games, but not too often I'm afraid to say. -

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?
-GR-Operative replied to gammadust's topic in OFFTOPIC
You don't seem to understand well the "3rd world" thing. It's a term used to reassure the countries from the south hemisphere submission to the contries from the north hemisphere. We have as much education, public health and jobs as you do, and our economics are doing better than yours if you think for awhile. Also, clean water is not such a problem in most countries. "Underdeveloped" is a really wrong term. It's comparing young countries to the oldest ones. Comparing countries of different sizes and demographics. In other news, really, there's nowhere to run, because all governments rule their population with iron fists. Some do it openly, while others prefer to sneak past the public views. -

That was my idea all the time. It's possible, it will benefit the artists and it will hit hard on the leechers. -

If you want to understand one of the reasons MegaUpload was taken down, you should really read about their project MegaBox (didn't find any article in english, so no links, sorry). -

SOPA-supporters say that if you listen to music in the internet, never buying it, you are robbing the artists. I don't see it this way. YouTube created ALL the current bestselling artists out there. Without it, they would be nowhere near where they are now. With filesharing, we are able to discover culture far away from our home. Even if we don't buy it, someone will. So, a no-profit deadend becomes a profitable horizon. Now, several people are able to survive, let's say, making music. Sometime ago, they would never have such an oportunity: they could not reach so far, just making some shows and selling some CDs.
