gunso replied to Debo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Me too after 1st update, i just wait for a bit then it seems to be ok. Restarted arma2 2nd time and it seems to be working normally. Remember to allow it in your firewall or antivirus too. -
Arma 2, OA & Dlc, combining?
gunso replied to LegendLeon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
If you have a box copy of arma 2 and OA, install it using the cd and download the latest patch from bis website. For reinforcement dlc get it from sprocket. I use the same setup, i have my box copy and got my dlc from sprocket. You can add it in steam using the add non steam game menu so your steam buddy can see it. Which is pretty useless once you start to use sixupdater. -
Lower your resolution

Mouse is a poor substitute for a flight stick, so i only use it for fine adjustment. Majority of the movement controls are still the keyboard since it's much more responsive for tight turns and etc and it's not that hard to click alt button for freelook while flying. I dont think its worth to connect my joystick to fly in arma2 since the flight model are pretty basic.

Can't pass the firing range in boot camp
gunso replied to Stray Bullet's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Someone raging for a bug in BOOTCAMP? wuts wrong with you, people who play Diablo 3 paid twice the retail price of arma 2 CO and still get disconnected while playing SINGLE PLAYER, they just lives with it and moves on. Yes, the game is buggy but we have a dev that keep supplying us with a patch even until now. We all learn to accept it or just make our own mod to make it better. that's the arma community way. If you're not satisfied with it, mod it yourself instead of raging to the dev. I think that's what made the arma community unique, we have the power in our hands to change the game to our liking. -
Arma 2 & Arma 2: OA Will not Launch
gunso replied to Pancakemixes's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
1 file missing is NOT NORMAL! Let it download and verify it again and again until everything is fine. You might want to run steam as administrator too. If you still gets error after verifying so many times, you might want to check with steam support instead and put a ticket for it. Or deleting the game and reinstalling it, but that's gonna take a long time so it might not worth it. -
Server Browser Only Shows Red X's
gunso replied to ltnublet's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yup, something in your computer is blocking arma 2 from connecting to the gamespy servers. Might want to turn all of it off to find which is the culprit. -

Strange glitches in Operation Harvest Red while using Combined Operations
gunso replied to NecroWolf's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
yo, welcome to arma 2. Dont use default video settings. Try to lower the video settings until it fixed the issue you're having. Maybe your graphic card dont support some option. I advise to lower everything down and slowly adjust 1 by 1 to find the culprit. You should post your pc spec and especially your GPU model because there are some settings that you need to manually turn off for eg. for nvidia gpu. Updating your drivers to the latest version also helps. -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
gunso replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
When you play on a server, all the enemy AI processing power is done by the server. That's why you get a smooth experience playing online. You pc only need to handle your own AI, that's all. It's a different story when you host the game. It shows that your pc is lacking the cpu power. That's why people with older rigs prefer to play arma 2 online instead of single player. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
gunso replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Yes, but on 1280 x 1024 resolution or maybe lower. You will lag if you play it on higher resolution. My old pc is that spec and i can play arma 2 fine at that res. It runs smoother on winXp than win 7 tho. -
How do I install Mission packs for multiplayer?
gunso replied to KnessX's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Benny Warfare menu and domination wont work if you just host it like that. It require dedicated server to run properly. -
ARMA 2: CO (how to combine ARMA 2 into ARMA 2:OA and use together)
gunso replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Use steam mover and move your unwanted games to another drive using this software. http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover only works on win7. -

How do I install Mission packs for multiplayer?
gunso replied to KnessX's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
lol i see what is your problem when i downloaded the file. you cant see it because it's under mp, not single player. ok here is what you do. Only take the .pbo file and put it in the mp mission folder, but since it's a mp mission, usually you need to use a dedicated server to run it or it wont work properly. The folder you find in the zip file is for use with the editor which you dont need to bother for now. Once you have copy the pbo mission file to the mp folder, look for arma2oasvr.exe and run it. You have successfully run a dedicated server on your pc when the small pop up appears and you see the message have stop loading. Then run arma 2 CO and look for your own server in the multiplayer section (it's your pc name eg like mine is Gunso server). you can usually see it under local. join the server, select a mission, vote yourself as admin and now you have accessed to change missions or the parameter. Take note, you cant save any game that you play using dedicated server. -
You become a bird on coop mission that :- 1. Didnt allow respawn and you only have 1 life. 2. Joining a coop game that didnt allow Join In Progress Nothing to worry about, just move around and look at the players doing the mission. you will be able to join when they finish the mission or all of them died.

ah, but my casing have 3 big fans sucking out the air from the casing. Maybe you just need a better airflow for the casing. currently i'm using the latest beta. Dont really see any problem, been playing the game everyday online since the latest beta updates. -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
gunso replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Usually experiencing lag even on the main menu is caused by using resolution higher than what is capable of your gpu. Just because you are using a big monitor doesn't mean your gpu can handle it on the monitor native resolution. You need to reduce it to get a stable framerate and later tweak it to get more from it. The only solution to play seamlessly on higher resolution is a much more powerful gpu. Lag while in game, especially when zooming weapons in towns area is usually caused by hard drive rpm loading speed. Others solve this by using ssd, you can also reduce it easily by reducing the resolution too, sacrificing looks for smooth gameplay. -

NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!
gunso replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
That seems normal if the gpu have been running at 100% all the time. It also depends on your room temp. I use aircond to cool my room if i want to reduce my gpu temp. if it seems too hot. But when i play arma2 online, my GPU is usually just at 30-40% at my native monitor resolution (1920 x 1080) -
Purchaser retail Arma2:CO misunderstanding
gunso replied to AwesomeSneeze's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Put in keys for arma 2 and install it, put in the OA keys and install it. then you get CO. What is the problem here? If it's what posted on steam, you should asks steam sales representative about it. -
Like all method to troubleshooting a 3D game, check if your cpu or gpu is at 100% and causing a bottleneck. if it does, reduce the video resolution until you get an acceptable framerate. Then from there you can start doing minor tweaks to get more performance out of your rig.

It's pretty good i would say if they are on safe. I've been overtaken by my own AI a couple of times while driving the m113 ambulance. Getting them cross country is still a pain tho.
