    Running Arma2 from SSD

    you need to install arma and all the addons in the ssd to have an impact when playing the game. OS on the ssd will make your overall win 7 performs better. You can also use free software like steam mover to move games from normal hdd to the ssd later and can move it back when you're not playing it anymore.

Things u can try- 1. Do a full scandisk and let your pc finishes it, bad sector on old hdd will corrupt your files. but scandisk will mark it and prevent the system from using that sector again. 2. Delete the game on steam and let steam download it again. To be safe, find the game in steam folder and manually delete it yourself.
  5. Try checking your cpu utilization, games will crashed it it's pushed to 100%. a lot of other factor like too much heat too. Could also be your direct x is corrupted and u need to reinstall it. It's pretty common for data to get corrupted if your hdd is more than 3-4 years old you might want to do a full scandisk once, so the system will mark any bad sector so new files wont be written over it and cause another corrupt file.

    Escaping a Fight

    It's pretty easy actually, look on radar for enemy carrier location and direction. move your carrier to intercept it. Stop your carrier and turn so your main cannon will point towards the incoming enemy carrier. Man the turret and wait, adjust your carrier accordingly. When you see it from the fog, start hitting it's plasma turret 1st. Once it's destroyed kill all other turrets and it's engine. It's pretty easy after that. I really hope they fix this.
  7. The game render towns and trees pretty smooth if u use ssd for your hdd. My previous rig is only Phenom 2 X2 with 512mb gpu. Moving through towns and trees are really smooth when i switched to ssd. If i use my old hdd, it will lag when looking at towns, trees and zoom in. Lowering the resolution and texture usually help to increase the speed.
  8. Your gpu is too weak to run at 1920 x 1080, i use 512mb 9600gt and play this game on 1280 x 1024 only. When u change the resolution, change both of the interface and resolution to the same as in pic Set everything to off or low since your cpu is kinda old. Then when it runs at reasonable speed (you can see the animation runs smooth at your menu screen), start increasing it bit by bit. there are others that also use old system but can still enjoy this game without major lag. If it still didn't work, you might want to check your nvidia settings, something might be set to be forced as on.

    If you see a new player trying to learn warfare, give this to him/her Even if some of the menu is different with the constant updates, the basic and concept should still be the same.
  10. The problem i notice with this new version of carrier command is that it loads each new island, not like the older version. Maybe because it's made to support the console too. So switching units to and fro far away gonna be a problem because of the loading time. But maybe with island upgrade, the same result can be achieved. Upgrading island with HQ module so you can remote control it especially when your are beginning to have more island. Controlling the island defense wont be a problem for BIS i think, just let the carrier run it's course while the player transported to the island to defend. Even on multiplayer, let all player transport to the island so it's easier for the game to manage it since it will render only 1 area at one time for everyone. I have another suggestion for multiplayer- 8. Multiplayer:- 8.1 - 9 players per team - 1 as carrier commander, the rest as the crew. The carrier should have a lobby area so no AFK player will hog a unit and let the commander have the option to move player to the lobby/carrier waiting room in case he's AFK. 8.2 - To keep new players from wasting vehicles, let the commander set minimum kill point needed to access certain vehicles. So people with low kill points can only access the carrier turrets and work themselves up from there. 8.3 - Each player will only have accessed to 1 vehicle per island - If you destroyed it, you will be stuck at carrier turret control. This will force people to work together and lone rambo will be punished as turret gunner until the next island. 8.4 - Commander can assign certain vehicle slot for players to occupy, like a pilot roster so an experience player can be assigned to slot 1 where a much expensive vehicle for specific role is ready. 8.5 In short:- - All player vehicle crew/pilot will hang around in the carrier lobby or briefing room - Commander can assign vehicle slots and carrier turret for specific players - Commander can set limit to how many vehicles per player for an island (useful for public server) - Player in vehicle dock will require a go notice from commander before he's able to launch, click ready and wait for commander verification. AFK players can be moved by commander so other player can take over. - Commander can set turrets/vehicles to safe so griefers cant waste ammo or shoot his own friends.
  11. I'm not sure if someone suggested this before but wouldnt it be better if the AI gains experience as long as it didnt die? Faster response, ability to avoid enemy fire and more accuracy as kills increased. Since we dont really have that many units to control, having them gain experience will make you more attached to them. Kinda like OFP resistance.
  12. A few other that i think could add to the game, to increase its replay value since it's a long single player game and quite repetitive- 1. Upgradable carrier - Using resource to upgrade your carrier or units, Like a technology tree that will let you branch your upgrades towards maybe Heavy carrier with armor and heavy weapons, light but fast carrier that sacrifice armor for speed, or carrier that excels in recon/detection system but averaged out in firepower and etc. In short sacrificing something to gain other benefits at the player choosing. This way you can replay a skirmish game with different variety and style again and again increasing it's replay value. Some physical changes to the carrier model to reflect it's capability would be great for identifying what type of carrier you are going against. Higher mast tower for advance surveillance, thicker side body for carrier with advance armor and etc. 2. Fighting vs multiple enemy carrier - With carrier variety through upgrades, it will be fun to go against multiple enemy carrier that will also have different configurations. It's also possible to have a multiplayer game with each player having his own carrier with this. So even in multiplayer later, players will be going against variety of carriers type out there. 3. Defending island - Let players to remotely control the island defenses while the carrier is slowly moving to reinforce it. Stop the time warp when island is being attacked. Give option to the player if he wants to control the island defenses jumping from vehicle or turret by clicking on the island map. This way player dont need to rush his carrier around since he can actively participate in island defenses by jumping to the island. With the ability to manually defense his island through remote, the need for carriers to have ridiculously fast acceleration can be eliminated. Let the player have the ability to send his manta as reinforcement. It will run on the background and player will be notified when his manta has arrived while he is busy defending it using available defenses on the island. This way, the idle time in the game can be eliminated since players will be more productive taking direct action in defending his island instead of sitting in his carrier quietly. 4. Units experience - regarding this, it would be great if there is certain upgradable items that is only available to experience units like additional armor, faster engine, cloaking ability,counter jammer and etc as a reward for veteran status. This will give players incentives to manually control the weakest units to increase its kill. Can also apply to island defenses too. 5. Island sea battles - Adding island assault units to attack your carrier when you arrived would be great addition, it's time to get all those side turret to work. You will also get to practice maneuvering your carrier on battle station before having the biggest fight with AI carriers. Moving around on water is much better too for the AI. This will also provide islands with a formidable defensive capability instead of just waiting for a enemy units to assault them on land. With the carrier acceleration speed set to realistic, it will not feel too fast like an arcade shooter and players will actually have to rely on his units and turrets to actually defend his carrier and not fast acceleration speed.
  13. Have you use sixupdater before? If you havent use it before, there are 2 steps in using six. 1. Downloading the mods. 2. Loading the game with mods. Six is pretty smart, if you download isla duala, it will automatically add the required mods along with it. My guess was your game is running OA not combined operation because you are missing the utes map. Usually if i reinstall, i will run arma 2 once after installation so it will register in the window registry. Then when i install OA it will automaticaly add the Combined Ops icon on your menu. Try to check if you have combined ops icon in the start menu. If not, run arma 2 once then reinstall OA. Just asks away if u need any help regarding six.

  15. There's a lot of group like that that played coop on a scheduled time, just find one nearest to your area.
  16. Maybe if the AI vehicle are given the ability to rotate on the spot, it will make them moves around better instead of painfully trying to reverse out of a tight spot. I dont really mind if it's not realistic since it's just the AI driving it as long as it gets to the area asap.

    You were kicked off the server

    i got hit by the cd key stealer too yesterday, suspect it's the cd key stealer because it happens after i log out of a server after it's been hacked. Checked the battleye website and it says that it changes your cd key to a non working ones. I did a re-install of the game and it solves the problem for me.
  18. If i'm not mistaken, some mission maker include their missions in the module. So if you load arma2 without the module you wont see the missions. Normal mission pbo are stored in the missions and multiplayer folder which can be seen even though the required mod are not loaded, it wont run of course unless it detect the appropriate mods are loaded.
  19. Tell us your location and we can recommend a few public server that didnt require any mods. Then you can just put the name in the filter. Usually it's divided between 3 continents, either US, Europe or Asia. http://arma2.swec.se/server/list For some weird reason, the icon color on the server list dont seem to show properly now. Even though it shows as red but i can still join in normally.
  20. Hi guys, do you use voice command when playing arma2? If you do, can you recommend me what software are you using and does it affect game performance or anything that i should know beforehand. I'm thinking that if i macro the command like danger. stealth, hold fire and etc to voice it will give better gaming experience to me. I also have some flight sim game i want to use it too. Thanks.

  23. I used to play older sim game like f22 total war which have lots of menu due to it's a complicated game and dont really mind arma or ofp similar style of menu. But after a while going through the menu while in a dogfight is not really appealing. I've seen the video, it looks kinda good and pretty easy to use. I'll try vac when i have some free time, dont want to waste the free demo time given with it :)

    I need help guys, the 2nd mission with the pandur. Do i have to kill all enemy at the "?" area? and is there a place to rearm my vehicle? I clear (i think) all the red "?" area and complete some side missions but now i'm out of ammo and been scavenging enemy vehicles while randomly moving around the map looking for new objective which i have no idea what. Do you guys found any place to rearm your vehicle?
