I7 2600k with ati 6970 issues with stutter
cotabucky replied to cotabucky's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I expect to get what I payed for.I already purchased this before anybody new about the " KNOWN FLAWS" obviously... Between asus and Intel it is there business to get it right. I know all about tweaking and stuff for ARMA2.That being said if a system is failing for what ever reason all the tweaking in the world wont help.My board is F-ed or my CPU is F-ed.One or the other and both Asus and intel are to blame IMO for rushing out this new design. It has been almost 20 years since I built a rig.Yes I am impatient and I'm sure the I7 x58 is the way to go for power but I'm not spending the $$$ just because I'm frustrated with the whole Intel thing.Ill give the slower AMD a try with the Crosshair IV board.Even If I get 1/2 the FPS but have some damn playability I will be happy lol :) .Hopefully the GPU is O.K. I think it is because I tested the board with this current 4350 I,m typing on now and it did the same thing. No card in it and it does the same thing. The cpu or board is the issue.Intel i7 2600k??? Maybe later when they get this new flawed system figured out is all I can say. I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS ---------- Post added at 10:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:30 AM ---------- Already in the works. Thankyou though -

Well My Motherboard VGA-LED light is solid ON now( could be more than one type of system failure from what I gather).I dont know exactly what was wrong except the Motherboard and Cpu are pissing me off. I just ordered up FX motherboard and amd 970 black.I don't care how much clock speed I lose as long as ARMA2 runs good. I think a 970 should be fine with my 6970We will see.I double checked all the x16 ports with another card and the light stays still stays on.Bios reset as well I'm just getting sick and tired of Sandy bridge and the p8p67 board all together.I know I'm not alone.I tried all the hype and believed it would kick a$$.Maybe for some but for me the I72600k and P8P67 has been a complete nightmare from start to finish. -

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
cotabucky replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What an A-Hole!!( Kidding :) ). I sometimes think getting everything new was a mistake with ARMA2.I know I will have things sorted out eventually but its frustrating. My friend is using the same rig I have minus Memory difference with zero problems and He is VERY picky. I realy feel My issues are narrowing down to data transfer and latency. I have to wonder if my hardrive may be failing(WD Black carvair 1T connected to 6G SATA) .I have ordered a crucial c300 SSD to give it a shot and help with system boot up load times :) .See what happens come Tuesday -

But your running 5870 and my buddy has the almost exact same system I have with no problems. The only thing not exact is memory. His last system was a toxic 5850 with AMD cpu and no problems. Im sure you have a point but We now have the same cards, cpu, motherboards and hardrives. I tried running the 10.2 drivers and they wont even start up(I'm running windows 64 bit). -

I will double check this. Thanks And last night playing online was horrible stutter(quite unplayable at times) with actions in towns but great at the Airport with sniper in tower.I tried it offline and it is the same so its not online Lag. Crucial 6G SATA will be here Tuesday hopefully just so I can get faster startup and eliminate a potential DATA transfer latency problem :) . I am also going to test my Hardrive benchmarks when I can. If You buy any crucial products order direct!!! I got my drive cheaper than Tigerdirect and the guy gave me Free overnight shipping!! Awesome service! To bad I ordered it to late in the day and tomorrow is Sat lol -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
cotabucky replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I don't know for sure but I realy don't think the CPU or Motherboard has anything to do with it. I think its a matter of whats getting in the way of the DATA that ARMA2 needs to keep stable. What or Why I have no idea .The only thing I can do now is try to help things along. I am going to work on Possible BIOS issues- Possible HD problems- (just purchased a Crucial c300 SSD drive that will be here Tuesday hopefully and running it in 6G SATA) Background programs F-ing things up- Possibly my Sytem Memory is F-ing things up but I will try that last.- There has to be something simple getting in the way causing this massive stutter!!! Again its in towns and especially in PMC missions with lots of stuff going on in towns. The open areas run flawless for me like at the Airport with the sniper in the tower -

I have been trying to go in and check this in task manager.I dectivate Anything I see online and adobe or whatever.I also shut off my AVG. I just don't get it. Ive got my card in the right slot and powersupply setup is good(double checked and triple checked).Ive tried more than one monitor and outputs. I am about to throw and SSD drive at the problem and maybe even order Faster memory (but wait until I install the SSD before opening the memory package in case I will send it back ;) ). I'm wondering if maybe My hardrive is faulty or something. Ive had it on its side instead of flat. I figured maybe that was it so I remounted it..NO DIFFERENCE. It gets quite bad sometimes like last night in the PMC missions. Airport was fine but in towns it went all to hell!! Tonight I try a barebone Low setting run on everything and see what happens. I use the 1st PMC mission as my test mission and 08 benchmark. That stutter just doesn't seem to care what I set it at though.IT DON'T WANT TO GO AWAY for some reason .Thanks for the help :) -

FRUSTRATING!!! I just want to play and enjoy the game.I know I am being impatient but I did just go spend $1500+ hoping I was going to get a much better experience. The stutter is killing it! Ive tried the lowest settings and its still there in game and benchmarks.Like I said its in towns mostly and so far the PMC missions I notice the most. I will try some other missions more and see if I'm just getting false positives/negatives on my results. defrag again. And try that game file defragger thing. -
Yup Me Too :) .The flight controls are inverted on the Controller(perfect) but infantry is opposite :( .I invert mouse as well since way back using Flight sims. Now if the controller Y axis could be inverted I would be in heaven as far as controls go.The controller is perfect for flying and inverted.I just don't get it. I am hoping BIS can fix this or tell me what I am doing wrong.

Yes ,especiall yConsidering I had more stable performance on my wifes hp duel core with hd4350 than my I7 2600k with 6970 and WD Black carvair drive :( .I love this game so much(the reason I got a new computer) so I'm just going to keep trying and trying until I get it figured out ;) -

T2 memory, and the thing I don't get is my buddy is using the same hardrive.I just feel its gotta be something else stupid.Last night playing PMC was horrible except at the airport were the sniper is in the tower. The framerate was perfect and the stutter issue was gone. Its mostly in towns I notiuce it bad making it unplayable alot of the time. The level were you have to blow up barricades was realy bad. I will try the ramdrive but I don't know how to do that.Ive set ARMA2 priority high in the taskbar. 08 benchmark is the same running it multiple times -

The Bitch is You gotta send it back eventualy :( . Other than that the MB's work fine at 6G SATA connections. They say it only effects the 3G SATA ports were the DVD drive reads and writes from.My I7 is easy to dissable hyper threading in BIOS.For most games however the I5 is just as good or better and You save $100.I said F-it and got the I7 because I have scene a benchmark or 2 were the hyperthreading helped. Ohh,BTW Hyperthreadong on or off made no noticable difference on my system. It has a major stutter I'm trying to work out.Its Ultra smooth for most things but that damn PMC coop online is getting me pissed depending on what mission I am playing. All other games are awesome about 100% of the time. -

Well At least I know I'm not the only one that should have no problem running this game but in fact I am having a serious problem with the stutter making it unplayable when playing coop PMC last night :(. -

Yes,Thanks I did check CPU, and the I did confirm the intel software is up and running. My friend even has the same hardrive. He mentioned running some type of Simulated Raid0 setup and I was wondering if that could have something to do with it?I may have misunderstood him on that one. Not sure about the 1T - 2T thing .I will try and figure that out. IN BIOS ?? It does play like a dream and the framerate is awesome except for the Stutter that just F's the whole experience when it happens. Most single player missions seem to be flawless and awesome I admit but I guess I just need more online time. Tonight I will do some more PMC and see what happens. The settings I find do very well the more I push the card. Not all low settings help at all.Ive been toying with Post processing and AA in ARMA2 software and find doing more with the hardware helps a bit. Of Course the stutter is still there all the way from 3.8 to 4.7ghz as far as the cpu is concerned.I activate X.M.P. its there.I do the auto tune ASUS overclocking and it seems to ramp up the Memory properly.Ive tried all kinds of things with little to NO changes as far as the VERY NOTICABLE stutter in 08 bench and PMC mission1. I just can't imagine the 8.8.8 24 c9 memory being the issue when Other games are flawless(like you said). Its 4 slots of memory ---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 PM ---------- Ohh ,and I am guessing you meant 10.12 not "10.2" lol. I couldn't even run 10.2. 10.12 was exactly the same and I did a registry clean and complete uninstall before that. Just the same but thanks anyways -

No I'll just get mad lol ;) . No mostly its incredible but I hate stutter and so far ARMA2 is the only thing doing it. I just ran Dirt2 dx11(F-IN AMAZING!), Left4Dead2 is flawless., and Metro 2033 with no stutter ...Metro suffers framerates when I try and bump up settings but thats to be expected and its not the same stutter/jump/jirk effect I have in arma2.And The problems I notice in arma2 OA is mostly the beginning PMC mission were there is explosions in town and that dang 08 benchmark. Its mostly turning fast and zooming in(And I know zooming drops the frame rate usually anyways). I'm just expecting the world with all new hardware and very demanding games lol. I need to give Drivers,Updates ,etc some more time I think. While I wait I will try different ideas that have been mentioned about Tweaking ARMA2 to run better. -

I am starting to wonder about the Memory and latency. My friend has the samme rig except for the memory difference. I am using ddr3 X.M.P. corsair 8gig(4 slots) 9.9.9.24 c9.His is 1866mhz and a lower latency memory(More expensive).I wouldnt realy think this could be the cause of the stutter but maybe ARMA2 is not optomized for my config? The other games I have played so far seem fine. The Memory is what I am starting to question.Maybe something in the software is doing it but Maybe ,Just maybe its a memory issue??? Anybody know more about this????? Could the latency/Timing be the cause ????? I'm downloading Metro dx11 demo and dirt dx11 demo to see how stable they are. -

Well that doesn't always work. I just purchased a new I7 2600k with 8 gigs of 1600mhz xmp mem, sapphire 6970 and carvair Black WD drive and I had one day or so of smooth performance and havn't been able to reproduce it since.Ive overclocked from 4.4 to 4.7 and back with all kinds of other settings changed. Testing PMC 1st level and the 08 benchmark I get some serious STUTTERING and framerate issues especially when zooming in and turning from side to side. Tried No Hyperthreading- Tried defragging- Tried reinstalling game and formatting hardrive and reinstalling everything with only ARM2OA installed(6G SATA btw)- Tried no mouse vs controller- Tried all game setting changes and 6970 hardware changes with STUTTER staying no matter how high or low I go- Tried rechecking all hardware and plugs to Graphics card- Tried monitor vs HDMI tv- The one thing I need to try is rolling back drivers if I can and adjusting CPU count if possible. As much as I love ARMA2/Operation Flashpoint from BIS.This stuff is frustrating indeed!!! It may not be all BIS fault especially in my case(All new hardware and running ATI There seems to always be driver issues). All I can do is keep trying . The game is worth taking the time no matter how frustrating it is .It is after all the best game in the world :) BTW- L4D2 plays Flawless,as well as some other games and demo's ive tried.FSX has horrible looking ground textures so far but I think thats mostly Game and Card settings I have to adjust -

Not sure what to think. In most single player stuff the framerate is awesome and little stutter. It seems the harder I push the card the more stable it is (High or very high in arma video settings). The framerates may drop in benchmarks but it seems smoother to me and much less jerky in game. I know about the bad chipsets and My motherboard I am sure will have to go back.It should only effect the SATA3ghz ports though I think.I uninstalled and restarted ADOBE flash with no luck. I think the problem is all new hardware and a NON optomised game I think.Especialy when it comes to the Video card.Left 4 dead 2 is rock solid framerate.Civilization V looks amazing, and other things I try have no issues. I'll just keep hamering away in ATI's CCC and in game settings.I am getting happy with what I have but the benchmarks just tell me something is up(I should say its mostly 08 benchmark thats the problem with stutter).Ohh I have also cleared registry errors and stuff. Knowing I have had the benchmarks great,I know there must be a way to get a solid framrate and no stutter in game. The beginning PMC mission is were I see it the most in game so far.Probably over time all this new hardware updates will hopefully sort some of this crap out ! :) wishingfull thinking? lol -

60 fps with my settings. No matter how low I go in the settings the stutter is still there.Sometimes little and sometimes more. Hyperthreading disabled did nothing. I did update chipset drivers and if anything it worked better with the old version. No mods. 10.2 drivers I couldn't get to install for some reason.I uninstalled 11.1 and everything but It starts loading the Catalysts and then just loads a couple files.I will try that again soon in case I downloaded the wrong driver somehow. 4.4ghz is the clocks and I tried everything from stock to 4.7ghz and still the "STUTTER". Like I said before,It bugs me because I have had the benchmarks silky smooth before for a day or 2. NO MODS or ADDONS. And YES I have defragged my hardrive and it has very little content on it as well.It is running 6g SATA. Tonight I go online again with some coop PMC with a buddy. Do the real world test :) .Thanks again for any input -

I will try that.Thankyou It was on the day I went to new drivers but my friends rig is nearly identical and it sounds like he doesn't have the same issues with the 11.1 drivers.Memory is the only difference between our rigs(8 gigs of Corsair x.m.p. 1600mhz).That and I have windows 7 pro and he has premium.Same Cpu,Gpu,and Motherboards. With my current settings it benchmarked 60fps with very little stutter in 08 benchmark.I will try the old drivers and who knows, that may get me back were I was.I'll try that tonight -
My new copy of PCgamer gives ARMA2 13th place out of 100 in the "Top 100 games of all time". Very Nice and I have always loved the original Operation Flashpoint on the xbox and PC. This is a game of long standing value! Nice Bohemia!!! I hope You continue to support this for a long LONG time! :D

Here is a link that better describes what is going on with the I5 2500k and I7 2600k "sandbridge" motherboards. All h67 and p67 are affected according to this article but won't keep me from playing :)(I HOPE). When the dust clears I will deal with my motherboard then.I Bet ASUS and others are not very happy http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCkQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zdnet.com%2Fblog%2Fhardware%2Fsandy-bridge-chipset-flaw-to-cost-intel-1-billion%2F11157&ei=kIpHTYqsBcWclgfd7ejmBA&usg=AFQjCNFqXyXo3eVHXUAr1_A2n0mHem0okQ -

Well I think You did a better job of answering your question. From what I read there was no accurate standard for judgement. It was there collected opinions from Pcgamer and UK PC gamer.They/OR He just quickly decribed under each game why they liked it so much and they gave them an order from #100 to #1 Thats all I can tell you unless I copy and print each page lol.Not gonna happen ;) So "there collected opinions" is the answer from me
