I am fairly new to the editor. Pretty much anything you want to do can be done without scripting. Sometimes you need to find a work-around and to date i have always found a way. . .

Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead are separate games and have have separate patches. . .
-
If you buy Arma 2 from Steam you must get any patches from Steam. If you buy Arma 2 from Steam and later choose to buy Operation Arrowhead, you must buy both from steam or neither from Steam. . .

When working in the editor, let animals be given waypoints. Soldiers on patrol spot some movement and and and …………Soldiers manning a post on a dark night see a flare tripped……. When working in the editor, a soldier icon has a footprint of about 2sq meters. An animal icon has a footprint of 50 sq meters! I suggest reducing the footprint. -

Include High Quality User Made Islands with Patches?
Joe98 replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I have Operation Arrowhead, BAF and PMC. I do not have Arma2. As a result, none of the user made maps works for me. If BIS produced another add-on like BAF or PMC with more content and/or map(s) I would gladly pay for it (them). . . -
Little help with triggers
Joe98 replied to lax's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
It is possible to arrange it so that only one unit will set off a trigger. I think you need to Synch that unit to the trigger. I have not tried it and I am at the office so is only a guess. . . -
Binding keyboard to issue orders
Joe98 replied to Suchy_'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
I have a Logitech programmable keyboard G110 36 keys can be programmaed For example one key is programmed as: 7-7-8-9-3-4.....Crouch - Form Diamond - Engage Another is: 7-8-7-2-7-1 ..Go Prone - Danger - Stealth And many more. - - -
I have noticed that the game editor seems to be the same as that used in Operation Arrowhead. I have noticed there are police in the game Are the police helicopters armed somewhat like military helicopters? If I have a squad of police on the ground do I command the individual men just the same as in Operation Arrowhead? In the game editor, can I arm the police and the Mexican drug gangs as I see fit? Could I then set up a police ground assault like an infantry assault? Perhaps the Mexican drug gangs could be given a Defend waypoint...... -

Logitech G13, Is it recognised as a seperate device like a joystick?
Joe98 replied to twicedead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
As i undestand it, the keys can be programmed. For example I have a logitech G110 keyboard. It has 12 extra keys numbered G1 - G12. And it has 3 menus meaning in effect I have 36 extra keys. Each key can be programmed. G1 is: Select Team Red G2 is : Select Team Blue G3 is: Select Team Green G12 is: Select all, go prone, form diamond, go stealth G11 is: Select all, kneel, form line, fire at will. . . . -
Place civilians on the map and then give them waypoints. The first waypoint is a Move type. Give the first waypoint a radius of (say) 300 meters. It means that the waypoint actually appears at random in a circle of 300 meters radius and you do not know where it is. Place a second waypoint near the first. Make the second a Cycle type waypoint and the radius NIL. The unit will now walk to the center of the circle, then walk at random to a point in the circle, then walk to the center of the circle and do this over and over again. - -

From the Wiki I tried: this setUnitPos "DOWN" _this setUnitPos "DOWN" Afterwards I named the man Blue and then tried Blue setUnitPos "DOWN" _Blue setUnitPos "DOWN" But the unit began the mission standing upright. -

How to use setUnitPos

Player. It seems that is the answer. - -
setOvercast: Which init line should I use?
Joe98 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Every soldier has his own init line. Which soldier should I use to setOvercast? If that soldier is killed, does the weather change to sunny? The question is not confined to the weather. It would also apply to most scripting commands. - -
setOvercast: Which init line should I use?
Joe98 replied to Joe98's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I placed a garden chair on the map and typed the command in the init field of the garden chair. It works just fine. I suspect it also works with triggers so you can change the weather based upon the trigger! - - -
It already works as you say. I have a related issue. I have 2 men wounded "A" and "B". I want "A" healed before "B". We have all taken cover so I cannot point my cursor at "A" or "B". I use the menu to order the healing. However I cannot tell from the menu who is "A" and who is "B" ! -

Scripting end of missions
Joe98 replied to thetrooper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Set one trigger as END 1 Another as END 2 Another as LOSE The triggers have an option that when the trigger fires music plays. - -
The solution is to get Operation Arrowhead. -
-
There are no waypoints. Instead there are 3 icons. The starting point, the enemy outpost and the ending place. To can move the icons around the map with your mouse. The "preview" button saves your mission so you come back and play it over and over again should you choose. -

What weapons/vehicles would you like to see in ArmA 3?
Joe98 replied to archaon98's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
= = OK then Arma 3 is probably not to my taste. I have Operation Arrowhead, BAF and PMC. And 4 maps. If Bohemia were to produce further add-ons, my money is at the ready. - - -
Thats how it actually works in game for him. I use a different approach. My keyboard has 12 extra keys: G1 - G12. G1 selects Team Red and G7 selects Team Blue. But none of that addresses the issue of the original poster. - -

How to gwt a soldier's rank to show in his icon?
Joe98 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
In the editor, place a group on the map and then preview. Note that the soldiers rank shows up in the soldier icons. Now place an individual soldier on the map and make him a sergeant. On the soldier’s icon, his rank does not show. How can I get his rank to show up? - -
What weapons/vehicles would you like to see in ArmA 3?
Joe98 replied to archaon98's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I was under the impression that Arma 3 would have all the weapons, vehicles and aircraft that are already in: Arma 2, Operation Arrowhead, BAF and PMC And that others would be added. Is that correct? - -
I would like, with one click of the mouse to give a series of orders: Run to that spot Go prone Face that direction Hold fire. Or to rephrase: A long list of pre-defined groups of orders that can be given with one click of the mouse (or keyboard). - ---------- Post added at 09:22 ---------- Previous post was at 09:17 ---------- Setting Rules of Engagement: The team is patrolling/guarding/ relaxing /or whatever. They spot enemy/they come under fire/or whatever. They then carry out one of the Rules of Engagement that I selected at the start of the mission. The rules of engagement can be allocated to teams or to individual soldiers. Different teams can be allocated different rules of engagement. - ---------- Post added at 09:52 ---------- Previous post was at 09:22 ---------- + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + ********************************************************** In the editor, allow animals to be given way points. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + ********************************************************** Add a toggle key. Well no: Sometimes I give an order to Team Blue ( a 3 man team) But sometimes I wish to give an order to just one member iof team Blue such as Jimmy at F4. Under you're suggestion we would lose that. - ---------- Post added at 09:43 ---------- Previous post was at 08:54 ---------- Solution: Add a toggle key. This is my fav part of the game. Before you begin the mission, select "edit". This allows you to move the icons that represent the start and ending locations of the mission. Wonderful! -
