[CAMP/OA] Soldiers of Valor: Task Force 94
birtuma replied to therev709's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
How good is the voice acting? I'm really interested but I don't like missions and campaigns with no voice over or bad voice quality. -
What's your hex editor? However, learn how to use it. The changed file... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JCVMES18 After the next patch you have to do this by yourself.
-
I know. Here are some screenshots. I'm using Okteta, it is a hex editor for Linux, so probably you won't find it for Windows, but it should work with every other hex editor. Open the file arma2.exe... Click on find, select "UTF-8" (some hex editors don't need this), put "Polish" in the search field... Now you have the string... Change it to "English" and save the file...
-
You are doing something wrong, it's just a string, you can't break the file if you change it. :D What file is it, arma2.exe or arma2oa.exe?
-
No. I did it already because there is no german version on Steam. FADE is only triggered by illegal keys and stuff like that.

ArmA2 (retail D2D) and Arrowhead (Steam) not combining
birtuma replied to Elkse's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You can also use a launcher. I'm using this one, you can define with it where the games are and what you want to start: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241 -
Probably you don't have the permission to write. Start your hex editor as administrator or copy the exe file to your own directories, change it there, then replace the original file. Or maybe it's just a broken hex editor, get another one.

Anyway to run retail ARMA through STEAM?
birtuma replied to Danny_K_1's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Bought? How is it even possible? Ok, probably is buying not the problem but activating. Anyways, you still need a friend with OA on Steam. Or you have to buy a second copy of OA, but this time on Steam, if the DLC adressed to your account. Well, that's a bug on Steam and maybe even BIS' fault. -

I said, you can install BAF from Steam with a retail copy, but you can't buy BAF on Steam without buying OA too. So if you have a friend who owns OA on Steam, you can ask him to buy BAF and then you can install the DLC from his account. -

As I said, you can't. Only if you would have OA on Steam, you could. -

You can't buy BAF on Steam without buying OA there. But, if you have a second (retail) copy of OA you can install BAF from Steam. I don't know why BIS doesn't allow to buy the DLC's on Steam for retail copies, it would work technically. -
Just change the string "Polish" to "English" in the arma2.exe or arma2oa.exe with a hexeditor and the game will be in english.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
birtuma replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Does Arma 2 support Crossfire? Probably not. With a stronger GPU you will get by far more fps. -

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
birtuma replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
They are faster than 1.5x, well maybe not 2x as I wrote, but 1.7x for sure. So he could get up to 50fps. And of course, you can spend 200€ if you want. A HD 6870 costs only 140€ and it's maybe 5-10% slower than a 560TI or HD 6950. Sure, but an overclocked Phenom is a really strong CPU, and in most situations it won't limit. On the other side with a 4870 you can't really set higher settings, activate postprocess effects, activate antialiasing etc... -

What is your GPU? Sorry, didn't see "4870". No, in your case it's the GPU limiting. You could buy a HD 6870, they are pretty cheap now and you could double your performance. -
Open arma2.exe with a hex editor, search for the string "Polish", change it to "English" or whatever.

Most strangest, funny or wierdest things that has happened to you in arma 2
birtuma replied to bestrangerdx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yesterday I played Insurgency online and I was in Zavarak. I ran to the city and as I arrived the first house an enemy walked from the ground like a zombi right in front of me, maybe 2-3m. -
Just the last one... :D Their logo with font: http://s7.directupload.net/images/user/110628/p45beu6z.png Nazi font: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tannenberg_%28Schriftart%29 It's the same font! SS division logo: http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:3rd_SS_Division_Logo.svg&filetimestamp=20090514140551
-
No, it's their decision. First of all I'm wondering why they (as germans) couldn't see it when the logo was created, and it's funny why they couldn't see it till now. So, I just wanted to say him that it reminds me of something. :D Actually such things belong to "Allgemeinbildung" in Germany because of the past (I'm from Germany too), they couldn't have missed this, what, as I already said, makes it kind of funny. Or the creator did it intentionally.
-
I know, sometimes it is really difficult to read (and understand). :D Oh, I forgot! "military, Totenkopf, font" and germans! 4 small things which are not really meaningful alone but all together.
-
There was no "standard Totenkopf" :D So it doesn't matter how it looks, Totenkopf in general is a symbol of some SS divisions, which makes your logo look like a nazi symbol, plus your old german font lets me associate it with nazis. You know, all things together, military, Totenkopf, font... Probably with a modern font and this logo it would not look so suspicious.
-
You can view your key, it's also in the email as "activation key"...
-
No, "der Totenkopf" is a symbol of SS-Totenkopfverbände. And the font, well it's a typical font which was used in the past, also by the nazis.
