    User mission requests!

I would like to request that the following missions from Operation Flashpoint be updated for ArmA 2:CO A Special Mission - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=236 By the Ocean - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=204 From the Ocean SE - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=626 Creeping Trees - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=360 DEA Drug Ops - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=22 Dead by Dawn - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=445 Deadly Shadows - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=141 Fairy Island - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=697 Get Out! - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=159 Operation Black Thorn - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=604 Operation Dark Knight - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=390 Operation Firelord - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=29 Operation Firestorm - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=349 Operation Red Storm - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=241 Spetz Natz Special - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=156 The Hunted - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=309 Training Day - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=177 USSR: Spring Strike - http://www.opflashpoint.org/missions.php?v=169 Siberian Fox - http://ofp.gamepark.cz/missions/020.zip All of these were really fun missions back in OFP and could be given new life in ArmA 2. A lot of the missions that took place on Everon you can actually DePBO and view in the editor on SAP Everon. I just don't know enough about scripting to make them work in ArmA 2. Anything that took place on Kolgujev could easilly be ported to the new CWR² Winter Kolgujev. I don't know what to do about the missions that took place on Malden or Nogova… Once CWR² comes out we can enjoy these and other classic OFP missions on their proper islands as they were intended. Operation Flashpoint, with ArmA 2 gfx? That'd be just so SCHWEETZ! :D I really hope someone will take the time to look these missions over and see if they can be updated for ArmA 2. ^_^,v,,
  2. I have always disliked programs that install things for me. I would much rather download things as a ZIP file, extract it and copy/paste it myself. I've always considered it lazy when people weren't willing to do something as simple as manually installing an addon or mod folder. Also, I want to be able to see what got installed and where it got installed to. That way if I dislike something I can remove every single file that came with it. Maybe it's paranoia, but I don't like people putting things on my computer without my knowing about it…
  3. Yes, it's "modern" but people don't stop fighting just because it's snowing. With the winter replacements what I was really getting at is this. If you have KuiK's Winter Camo Pack and if there were a Winter version of the summervegetation (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10093) then you can go back and play all the ArmA 2 stuff in the winter. Of course for people that only bothered to buy Operation Arrowhead Stand Alone this would be pointless. Having winter looking plants & trees and soldiers & vehicles in the desert would look pretty stupid. Then again it does snow in Afghanistan, so maybe it wouldn't look that bad… KuiK's Winter Camo Pack is a good replacement and the vehicles look great on winter maps, but the soldiers don't look properly equipped for a winter campaign. Especially the guys running around with their sleeves rolled up. The CWR² winter soldiers look much better and would make a good replacement if you wanted to play in the snow. Back in Operation Flashpoint pretty much all I did was MFCTI Winter Coop missions (and played around on Tonal Isle with the BAS stuff). I just kind of miss playing around in the snow with my friends. http://www.opflashpoint.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13936 http://www.opflashpoint.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14237 I just hope that when CWR² is released they include some winter islands and stuff. Winter Kolgujev really takes me back. Great Work! :D
  4. I just love all the winterized terrains, they're so kewl looking and the environment is awesome. Get a little snow blowing and a little wind howling through the trees… :D
  5. One thing I am seriously hoping for is when CWR² (hopefully a full CWR² Winter as well) is completely finished and released is that someone will make a replacement pack. To replace all default BIS units, vehicles & weapons with CWR² units, vehicles & weapons. I would especially love to see CWR² Winter replacements with all their vehicles winterized as well. I'm feeling kind of nostalgic for the old OFP Winter missions. Hopefully someone will make Winter Everon, Winter Malden, Winter Nogova and maybe a Winter Chernarus & Utes as well. ^_^,v,, ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everything looks better covered in snow & ice.
  6. OFP:Resistance Ultralight Trike and Ski-Doo Snow Sled updated for ArmA 2. The Ski-Doo Snow Sled would be great fun on the new CWR² Winter Kolgujev, also on ThirskW or any other Winter map. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would also like to see the wintervegetation pack. (winter version of summervegetation) http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10093 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=97347

    Town Clash

Kewl, new missions! We were wondering if you were planning to add Takistan & especially Zargabad to your City Fight series?
  8. I had an idea for a new military-style rpmod. It's kind of a cross between Chernarus Life: Ultimate, CTI & Insurgency. I posted it in the CL forums over at rp-mods.com already. More details… I tried to put as much thought into this as I could and keep things balanced and fun. It would of course need a statsave system so all the progress you make can be saved and continued the next time you log in. I really don't know anything about scripting so I can't really do any work more than conceptualizing. Honestly though, if BIS made a military-style mmorpg I would definitely pay-to-play it.
  9. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this and if an admin feels this post should be moved to a more appropriate forum please feel free to do so. I play a lot of use made missions and campaigns and I frequently encounter errors where a mission calls for an addon that was neither listed as a required addon or was actually used in the mission itself. While it is easy enough to DePBO the file and remove the erroneous addon from the mission.sqm and fix the mission in the mission editor. I feel that the proper use of mod folders would be more beneficial to the community. When making a custom mission please turn off the mod folders of any addons you do not intend to be used in the mission. This should prevent them from inadvertently showing up in the mission.sqm. Either that or check your mission.sqm and be sure what addons are actually being called for before you finalize the mission and list the required addons. Thank you!
  10. hehe, as much as I miss playing rp mods and stuff, I'm kind of glad this happened. Forces me to break my addiction to video games. Sure, I play some TDM and CTI and some single player stuff. But no more spending 6hrs or more a day with my face glued to the screen irradiating my brain. Besides…real life has better addons. =D

    User mission requests!

@ocgamer Operation Thunderstorm was originally part of a series of single player missions for Operation Flashpoint by Teifiterror. A lot of things have changed since back then and the AI are a bit smarter now. So some things in the mission are obviously going to be different, most notably it being converted into a coop mission. I still enjoyed playing the mission and hope there will be a lot more OFP mission conversions for CWR². Playing these old missions on their original islands as they were originally made will be a lot of fun. http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1806596&postcount=8
  12. It was the same for me and Romsas. I believe it was ArmATech that did it too. He just said "You're banned!" kicked us from the game & TS and banned us. Didn't really take any time to talk to us or explain what we did wrong or listen to our side of the story. I was able to type up what happened in their forums, but haven't really been back sense. Really left a bad taste in my mouth and if they don't want us there I'm not gonna bother going back. Hopefully CLU will get fixed soon and we can go back to playing that (I miss driving my big yellow truck to the mines…). In the meantime I doubt we'll be playing any RPG mods. I think we're gonna reinstall my zSNES & Project64 emulators and play some old Nintendo games today. =D Zelda ftw!
  13. HAHAHA! Things do go that way a lot it seems. I don't think a lot of the admins actually "play the game" they helped to create. They just log in, spawn whatever they want and have some mischievous fun. In my honest opinion admins let all that power go to their heads sometimes. They should log in without their powers and play the game from scratch the way the rest of us have to. I tried ZL, but there was too much DMing. Some guy on an ATV kept running everyone over and the police just started shooting up the place. I really loved CLU till they turned it into a bicycle simulator. They changed the economy and made it harder for ppl to make money or gain levels. Problem is if you get disconnected you could lose everything that you had gained over the last 2-3 days. Anything in your inventory gets gone, your vehicle is left alongside the road (if it didn't wreck when you DCed) and by the time you log back in, someone may have stolen it or salvaged it. That's why I was giving City Life 2 a try. But that's a bust. The mod itself looked great (what little of it I could see in the endless night), but the uber-strict admins kind of ruined it before I even had a chance to see it with the sun up. "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely" Words for all admins to remember.
  14. If this is gonna be a multiplayer RPG mod , will there be a statsave system, so you can keep whatever you earned the next time you log in? Also, will the exp and levels be gained by doing missions and tasks within the game?
  15. This was a very disappointing mod. I just tried City Life 2 this morning (or at least I tried to) till I got booted off. I signed up in their forums yesterday and spent 2hrs downloading the 2gb of addons and setting up the launcher properly. During which time an admin popped in TS and talked to me for all of 2mins then left me to finish the downloads. After that I sat around for an hour in the Waiting to join server channel (which is where you are supposed to wait for an admin to finish talking to you) but no one ever came back on. I figured it was probably pretty late over in the UK (time zone difference from EST is 5hrs later) and with it being the holidays they probably wouldn't be back on. I decided to try again this morning. Hopped on TS and sat around in the waiting to join server channel again…after about an hour of that I was getting a bit bored. My friend Romsas has also just joined that morning and was in the channel with me. He was already in game and since I had already spoke with an admin the day before he gave me the pass to go ahead and get started. I logged in and set up my character, bought myself a bicycle and some doughnuts and started a bicycle delivery. It was night in game and I had to drive all the way from Chernogorsk to a small village near Devil's Castle with no NVGs so it was a very long drive. Afterward Romsas met me to give me a lift back to town, but it wouldn't let me put my bicycle in the back of his pickup truck, so I had to leave it there. On the way back, some in game police officer pulled in behind us and suddenly some guy popped in TS and started asking where did I get the password, how did I get in here? I don't think it was the same admin from yesterday, and this guy seemed royally pissed off and was kind of intimidating. I told him Romsas did and before we could say a word or ask him any questions he just said "You're banned" and kicked us both. I went and posted all this in their forums and am waiting for a response now. But even if they do unban me I don't think I will be going back. That guy seemed very unfriendly and if everyone in game is going to be that way I would rather not play with them. We play these video games to have fun and enjoy ourselves. Being made to sit around waiting for an admin to officially sanction our arrival on the server for two days and then being ear-raped over TS and booted/banned is NOT a very nice welcome. The players make the game. Without us you would just be sitting around on an empty server all day playing with yourself. If you want new players to join your server and have fun playing with you, then you should be a bit more courteous and welcome them warmly. It would not be my recommendation to play this mod, unless you are thoroughly prepared to jump through a bunch of hoops and wait 2-3 days or more to join. That being said, I give this mod a thumbs down. (the mod itself may be good, but the reception by the admins makes this mod feel too exclusive and unwelcoming like they don't really want you there anyway) :( I've been playing RPGs since the mid 80s and MMORPGs online since 2004 and that was by far the worst "Welcome to our server…now gtfo!" I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I'm gonna go ahead an uninstall all the crap they made me download…there are better mods out there with with more friendly admins that I could be playing with.
  16. F-86 Sabre To go up against against this sweet little MiG-15. It just doesn't feel right without it's arch-nemesis and is lonely up there in the big blue sky. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12278
  17. We seriously need an F-86 Sabre to go up against this awesome little jet. I just doesn't feel right going against anything else.
  18. Very nice little addon, it has a lot of potential and I would definitely give a big thumbs up for a Mario Kart Mod. I took it for a test drive on several maps and it performed the best on the racetrack on Lingor. It had some issues with the racetrack on the NE part of Panthera. It behaved as though it were on a dirt road and was very slow and wouldn't cross the bridge at all. On Jahpato Island which is laid out very much like a Rally track it couldn't get up to speed, since it's nothing but dirt roads. It did incredibly well on Jade Groove with all those wide paved highways. If you can get it to cross bridges (the little Quad ATV by BIS doesn't like bridges either) and get it's offroad/dirt track speed up a bit it'll be really incredibly fun to play with. Maybe make it turn a little tighter, with such a small wheelbase it ought to be able to turn on a dime. ^_^,v,,

    User mission requests!

I would like to request a mission that could be incorporated into Chernarus Life: Ultimate (soon to be Sahrani Life: Ultimate) Here's my idea… Assassination Mission - for people that want to kill something (other than human players). The player would have to go to the Terror Hideout to sign up for the event and carry a cell phone on their person to participate. The player would receive a text message from the client (an AI with a task) telling the player to go to a specified (randomly selected location) area to receive the details. When the player arrives at the location they will find some documents containing a photo of the target (a randomly spawned AI that wanders around an area), rough description of where they MIGHT be found (a randomly selected location). Once the player arrives the target may or may not be there and they will have to search the area for them. If the target has left the area you must look for clues to his whereabouts to complete the mission. Once they have completed the job money will be transferred to their account (amount of money varies between 50,000 ~ 500,000 with difficulty of target and work involved in finding them) and a new target assigned via the cell phone you are carrying. If the cops catch you assassinating these AIs they can still arrest you same as they would for killing a human player (maybe a little less time though). The Visiting Dignitary - assassination mission will be a little different and involve the cops protecting a high value target. A visiting dignitary will be flying in with his bodyguards (black suited functionaries armed with MP5s) and landing at a secret location. Only the police will be informed where he is landing and must go there to meet and guard him during his stay in Chernarus. He and his bodyguards will board a convoy of black SUVs and make their way to the city hall of Chernogorsk for a speech and photo op. The police MUST ensure his safety (doing so will guarantee them a big fat bonus check). After the speech the dignitary will board his SUVs and make his way to the waiting chopper to take him home. Once a human player has received the mission to assassinate the dignitary the details are up to him. He can attempt to shoot down the chopper on it's approach (if the player can guess where it's landing and if the player fails to shoot down the helicopter the dignitary will immediately depart the area and reschedule his visit causing the player to fail the mission). You can try to blow up the convoy with an RPG or mine in the road or some sort of bomb (that's if you can figure out which SUV he is in and if you miss your target the dignitary will immediately leave the area causing the player to fail the mission). You can try to shoot up the convoy with a rifle or machine gun (with the same results listed above), or you can try to snipe him while he's giving his speech. This is where he will be most vulnerable and the cops must be extra diligent in searching the area for explosives or suspicious payers (and NO the cops cannot simply order all players to leave Chernogorsk or turn on the DMZ that will completely ruin the fun). If the player successfully completes this lengthy mission he will receive a huge reward of 1,000,000 (as is fitting the difficulty and value of the target). I've been playing CLU for awhile and we really need some new ways to make money (they're shifting the economy away from mining and into manufacturing things to sell to other players) and keep the higher Lv players busy. This could also make for a good Cops vs Hitmen MPmission.

    Summervegetation

Any news on the Wintervegetation pack yet? It'll be nice to see everything covered in snow this Christmas.
  21. Is there anyone that can make a mod that will make our HUD appear like this? It's just moving the members of your squad from the bottom of the screen to the left side, the STHUD in the upper right and a red dot instead of the standard ┕┌ on-screen crosshairs. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  22. I would like to request a U-Haul tow behind trailer that you can AttachTo your vehicle and carry items and stuff with. Also, a U-Haul truck that you can load up with things…like diesel fuel & fertilizer. BOOOOM!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Perhaps a panel van could be used the same way…or to kidnap people.
  23. Oooo… Aahhh… *drool* Shiny plane…must have. O.O
  24. S.O.L. Defense Satellite - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQh26wKS6f8 Station the satellite high above the theater, maybe use this addon to target with it - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11863 and…FIRE!
