  1. A lot of people are saying that this patch "Broke the game" so I guess I'm not alone. Is anyone else getting this problem: When I launch the game with "Play ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead" a command window dialog box appears for a brief moment (too short for me to even read) then disappears. Then...nothing. The game fails to load and my "Playing ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead" status disappears on the friends screen. This isn't a crash as the game doesn't load and there is no crash log for me to upload. It simply fails to launch. The game launches normally if I choose to launch it without BattlEye. I'm guessing this has to do with the "improved" BattlEye implementation feature mentioned in the patch notes.

    A3C: Name Tag Mod

All the links to the version of this mod with the .bisigns and server keys are dead. I just got back from reformatting my computer (paranoia from Heartbleed--changed passwords and reformatted since I work from my desktop as well). Any assistance would be appreciated. PS. the link from Foxhound has the mod, but no signatures or keys.
  3. You've got to be kidding me...that was it. I checked the steam_appid.txt and it was a different number. Changed it to the one you suggested and I can join and play just fine. Just for future reference...where was this information? I was truly tearing my hair out and e-mailing several people at Bohemia Interactive and none of us came up with a solution over the past few days. You are a terrific! Thanks so much, And3rs!
  4. I used the dedicated server in the Steam Tool section.
  5. Hello all, I'm trying to host a dedicated server using the BECTI 0.97 mission to play with my friends. I am hosting it from the same computer I am attempting to play from as I don't have another tower just lying around. Mostly, I'd like the server to be up 24/7 so my friends can play the mission when I'm not around (usually, when I host using the client, I have to jet off somewhere once the mission starts getting good and we are rolling in money). I've hosted Warfare mission dedicated servers before in ArmA 2 so I'm not a total total newbie in terms of server administration. I followed the directions in the forum about setting up a server, and I had the server all port-forwarded and up and running in a jiffy...but there's a problem. I can't connect to my own dedicated server. As soon as I try to connect I get the message "You were kicked from the game." The server console window records me trying to connect, then disconnecting...there are no errors. I checked the server's .rpt and there were no errors about signature checks or anything like that (I googled the fudge out of this problem and no one has encountered this WITHOUT getting a specific error message). In fact, this is the cleanest .rpt I've ever seen. Things I've tried: Disabling BattlEye Disabling all forms of Signature Check Disabled any commands about kicking people with hacked or unsigned data Disabled the RequireSecure ID Re-enabling all of the above I've tried starting the server before and after the Steam Client I've tried launching the game before the server. I'm really confused here. My friends cannot play at the moment...but one reported that he can indeed see the server and the ping (which wouldn't show up if the server were not portforwarded correctly, at least in my experience with ArmA 2). Any assistance or suggestions are appreciated. Oh and I'm using the stable branch of the game--and made sure that it matches the server version as well.
  6. I'm just guessing here, but when you run a server, the view distance and terrain details (grass distance) are configured differently from the client. That is, the client renders the view distance and grass distance based on what the server settings are regardless of what you have set in the options screen. You could tell your client via the options screen to full details, but the server will still run them low unless you add a command in the config file that says different. This is to make sure that people with beefier computers don't get a drop on players with not so stellar ones (cuz some people would be able to see you since they have max distance/detail settings but you might only have moderate view distance set) So if in single player you have your view distance slider all the way up, but don't tell the server anything different it will keep it at the reduced "default" setting. This could explain the performance increase in MP. Note: If you start the game from inside the game client (i.e. you don't use the dedicated server .exe) everything is set at default except for the actual gameplay options. I would recommend using the dedicated server and playing with the view distance and terrain detail commands to see if you an get things a little more consistent.
  7. Thanks for the answers. I guess I have no more questions! I downloaded it from ArmAholic and everything seems to be fine. Day Z runs great, though I died in 5 minutes...which is pretty typical of my ArmA 2 MP performance, lol. Thanks again. PS: For the record, I will say that I still swear there was an official download button where we could download the patch from the same ftp server as the betas. It looked like the "Details" button now on the page, but said "Download" instead. I'm guessing it was taken down (if it was even there) because of the increased traffic on the FTP because DayZ requires the newest beta all the time. Otherwise, how would the official site count downloads ;-)
  8. Thanks for the link! Was the download button removed from the official page? I noticed that the official info on the ArmA 2 site had the patch modified in January, and this link is dated the 22nd of December. If I recall, there needed to be a hotfix or something for the super-initial official release (?).
  9. Hello all, Long time lurker, few time poster. I've just recently decided to get back into ArmA 2 after a long hiatus to try the Day Z mod. I have all the ArmA 2 games on DVD (DVD copies of Combined Ops and Reinforcements). Naturally, after installing I wanted to update my copies to the latest version. Going to the official update page, though, all I found were a list of mirrors. I tried Multiupload but all it did was take me to a page about SOPA. The other links look like they might be in a different language from my DVD copies (American English). I know the language thing can really be a problem with some games, so I didn't want to spend an hour or two at my connection only to find out that the patches wouldn't work. I thought about trying the ArmAholic site, but then I read chatter somewhere in my search results about a hotfix being needed--but that it was fixed in a later iteration of the patch file. Since the patch on the official site was modified on the 28th of January--and the one on ArmAholic was dated on the 22nd of December, I'm not sure if the hotfixed version is reflected in the one on that site. I distinctly remember in the past, that there were download buttons on the official pages where you could download it directly from Bistudios.com or something like that...but I can't seem to find them anymore. Am I blind? Did the buttons go away? Where can I find the latest official 1.60 patch without the need of a hot-fix (that's also in my language?)
  10. @Tempai: I just tried it out and it works! You sir, have just saved Arma 2/OA for me.

Orders to my team - RUN!

That's right. They won't be in danger mode anymore. There's a couple reasons why this works. Partly because they know they are a good target standing up...but mostly because they'll die in 5 seconds. That was a bit sarcastic but I'm serious. Getting them to stand up under enemy fire is a bad idea--even when you need to move. I've always met with failure with it. Though, I haven't been playing a long time, mind you. Solution A) What I do is get near them, tell them to "regroup." Put them in AWARE, Then "All, Scan Horizon." They'll start looking around and turning incrementally in 360 degree circles...shooting at infantry they spot. When they make the full 360 degree pass, they'll say "Clear" (having just dispatched the infantry nearby) and then the little red target reticle will disappear and you can jog to your next way point. Solution B) If you get attacked by a vehicle, put them into Prone and tell them to find cover and hold fire (assuming there aren't any infantry--if there are, I still put them in hold fire and do the shooting myself). They'll do a pretty good job hiding and eventually the APC/Tank will loose interest and roll away. If you are really close to the APC/Tank in a field keep telling them to fall back while PRONE. They'll crawl and roll away, and again the APC/Tank will hopefully lose interest and roll away. Then do Solution A. Solution C) The best solution is to try to avoid vehicles when at all possible. Use your map and move from green patch to green patch or grayer areas (i.e. the wooded areas or building groups). Analyze the slope of the hill to tell when you'll be walking up hill or down hill. Try to stay uphill and behind the summit from your objective until you are ready to make your assault (this is to use the terrain to hide your approach). It's not always possible and this might take some extra time, but sometimes even the "direct" approach, even while being sneaky with the bushes and trees/fences/houses gets you into some sticky situations that you can usually avoid.
  12. Hey all! New player, long time ArmA/ArmA 2 admirer here. I finally got a decent rig to play the game(s) and I ordered the boxed ArmA 2: Combined Operations from Amazon (since they don't seem to sell the boxed copy in US stores from what I could tell). Installed it and gave it a run with the latest official combined OA 1.52/ArmA 2 10.7 patch. My friend that turned me on to the game loves to play Warfare, and so do I, so I thought I would give it a practice run on a LAN server by myself before challenging him. On either Chernarus or Utes, any Warfare MP mission gives me the error that I can't play or edit the mission because "warefare2vehicles" is deleted. I can still play the game, though. This happens whether I'm launching the Combined Operations shortcut created by installing OA over ArmA 2 or when I launch vanilla ArmA2 ver. 1.07. I have no special shortcut commands in either. Even tried the latest OA beta. No luck there either. Then upon a search I turned up that the mission.sqm might be missing the "warfare2vehicles" entry in either (or both) Addons and AddonsAuto near the top of the file. I found Pboview 0.8 and viewed the mission.sqm for the "Superpowers" MP Warfare mission and "warfare2vehicles" is already present in both areas on the .sqm. I'm posting directly from checking Superpowers...work has interfered with my ability to check the other two, but it's probably the same I would imagine. I can check when I get home. So I'm left scratching my head. Found the Community Issue Tracker entry for this if any of you are interested: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/11498 My question, to make a long story longer is: Is there a workaround that I can use to fix the STOCK warfare missions that I may not be aware of? Sorry if this is a duplicate post, but those posts I found were talking about user-made missions that were missing the "warfare2vehicles" entry, and since these are stock missions with the "warfare2vehicles" entry already present, I thought there might be additional information that comes to light from someone in the know that wasn't present in the other threads.
