Hi fellas. Just wondering what the point of the extra pilot camera (LCtrl + Right Click) is in the Apache? Doesn't seem to be controllable at all besides zoom level, and I can't seem to use a laser designator with it. Is it really just a 41x zoom front camera for the pilot's use?

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

What I don't get is the reason behind all this conflicting information. If you can hit the recommended specs, I'd assume that means running the game on medium, right? And the parts to run Arma at recc. specs only cost you less than £300. So, what's with a not-recent-at-all game requiring stuff costing over £200 apiece to run at high? -

I found places to buy all the parts, and I gotta say, it's amazing how cheap they are. Thanks a lot Leon, you've really helped me out. Small EDIT: What settigns can I run ARMA 2 CO on, with this lot? -

[is it a phenomII? If it's not skip it and get at least an AthlonII(basically a PhenomII without L3 cache). Once you get below a certain pricepoint the performance (and the performance/price) starts to drop drastically, I'd say the minimum you should buy is something like this: Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 ~70 euro's AMD Athlon II X3 425 ~70 euro's XFX HD 4850 ~75 euro's or 50 secondhand, brand doesn't matter btw, that one's just cheapest around here 2GB kingston valueram ddr3 ~50 euro's 600w is not really essential, 4850's dont have a very high tdp, nor does the rest of the hardware. A Corsair CX400W, can be had for a little over 40 euro's and will be enough, a sweex/trust 400W might not be a good idea though.] So, can I get these parts from the net or what? They only total up to £17 more than what I was paying, so it's no problem. Only thing is the P&P I assume I'd have to pay. -

Back again, with my considered upgrades. How well will I run ARMA 2: CO with these specs? Motherboard: Not sure. Stupid Maplins only showed the processor and card. Would imagine some kind of ATX board though. Graphics: XFX GT240. Processor: AMD Phenom 8850 X3. (2500MHz) Power Supply: 600w. Memory: 2GB, might buy a 1GB card to stick in there to bring up to 3. -

Yeah, it was AGP. Stupid old systems...At any rate, I know what I'm upgrading to. New motherboard, a ASUS P7P55D I5, a new processor, E7400 Intel Duo core, and a GeForce 9500GT, all for only £235. -

Well, my current card is a GeForce 6800, so getting a pair of those 4850HD's seems like amazing value for money. How do I know if my PC has crossfire support? -

I've been looking on the internet for an upgrade (Radeon 4850HD) when I noticed that one cost over a hundred pounds, and another was half that. Are they the same card, or is one inferior? http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/9388342/Gigabyte-GV-R485MC-1GI-ATI-Radeon-HD-4850-1GB-DDR3-PCI-Express-2-0-Passive-Graphics-Card/Product.html?_%24ja=tsid:11518%7Ccc:%7Cprd:9388342%7Ccat:Components - The dearer one. http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase25.7&prodID=B209984 - The cheaper one. -
Thing is, how will I know -which- parts to choose. A bunch of numbers at the end of a brand of a card company doesn't mean a great deal to me.

A WH40k mod? Sounds pretty awesome.
-
Yeah, there's a PC World about twenty minutes drive from here... But I have no idea what parts to pick. I may speak it, but I am not l33t.
-
Yeah, I know. That's why I think getting the 580 is a good move, considering it's half the price of the cheapest Alienware model and is quite a bit better to boot.
-
After some searching around, the cheapest desktop that fulfils the Optimal requirements in the Inspiron 560, or the 580. 580 is more expensive, but is better in every way, while the Inspiron 560 is barely at Optimum memory. Thing is, the 580's memory is only 6144MB Dual Channel DDR3 1333MHz [3x2048] Memory. Thoughts? Alienware is so expensive it made my eyes bleed, as well.

I see. Might as well buy a whole new PC new. any suggestions on a model that would function well?
-
Well, fantastic...What would you suggest? A total upgrade of my entire system?
