  1. Re; camera hard to control / shaking. To anyone having problems - camera is just very sensitive, keep your mouse pointer in the centre of the crosshair & you will see - takes a while to master but practice helps! Also, try playin around with the _radius & _height in 'ac130_action.sqf' as this also helps (bigger circle=less turning/banking), been playin demo mission provided and have set radius to 1600 - this improves it for me. All I want now is to figure out a way to get AI to initiate scripts & aim the bugger so I can watch the carnage from the ground & see that tracer coming in! Definately the best AC130 simulation for A2 so far, a BIG thankyou to LurchiDerLurch for this amazing bit of work - we seem to be on the right path at last! & Wow, take a look at all those scripts - this guy is nearly as much of a computer as mandoble (bet if you listened to these guys talking it would sound like a fax machine!) - where has he been hidin? 1st I've ever heard of him & 'boom - headshot' as they say! Brilliant... it can only get better. thankyou.

    JTD Flies

@swiftyboy My thoughts exactly - use in in conjunction with the zombie mod - lay out a few dead zombies (setdammage 10) and add the flies - will definately add more immersion, anyone done any 'body parts' addon yet? Maybe Arma is making me a bit warped? Great addon - Thanks DMarkwick

    the FEW

Hi CSJ - love your addons - all of them so a big thankyou there... Just an observation, you might want to consider removing the swatstika from the tail rudder on JU as the symbol is banned (illegal) in Germany - not an issue for me but as a brit I like flying the spitfire & hurricane - our German friends will probably want to fly the german planes & it may put some of 'em off making use of your great addons - It could also prevent German fan/clan sites such as www.Armed-Assault.de & www.assaultmissionstudio.de etc, from legally hosting the addon or showing a picture of it. Be a shame to deny it to some of the Arma community which traditionionally has a such a great record for sharing. Only reason I mention this is 'coz I saw this point raised on another thread about the German WW2 stormtrooper addon when someone was asking why the symbol wasn't on the helmets. On another note - really looking forward to the heavy bombers - any chance of a Lancaster? - there appears to be a model up for grabs - see thread over at SimHQ - (http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2709056/SoW_spec_Lancaster_model_up_fo.html) Lots of good pics of the current state of the model there. Thread was posted by Loki (jnr SimHQ member) on 04/03/09 - don't know if this is same Loki of LostKey/mushroom kingdom fame but basically it reads as follows; Quote Loki:- _____________________________ "I had started work on the Lancaster for SoW last year, but work and other things have pulled me away from it and it's basically gone untouched for months now. Therefore, the model is up for grabs to anyone who wants to continue the project. The modeling and UV's are 100% done The textures are 50% done Damage modeling and LODs are 0% done Comes with about a gig of reference photos. I'd hate to see all that work go to waste, and I'd like to fly the Lancaster one day, so I hope there's someone here wanting to continue the project." ___________________ End Quote Must admit - I know jack about modelling so I couldn't say if this is compatible with Arma2 - but if it is and it's the same Loki should be fairly easy to get hold of (for permissions & model) as he is active on the Armaholic forums?? Then again maybe you already have one? Anyways Cya & thanks for all your hard work.

Looks great - downloading now. Many thanks Mondkalb
  5. A suggestion for addressing several graphical problems with ARMA (especially artifacts) - worked for me when nothing else did. In the following order: 1/Go to your arma2 profile in your 'My Documents' folder (or My Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles if you are using different profile) & delete 'yourname.ArmA2Profile'. 2/ Go to 'My Documents'\ArmA 2 folder & delete 'ArmA2.cfg' file. (MOST important) 3/ Go the advanced settings for whatever GPU you are using & reset your GPU to default for all settings. 4/ Fire up ARMA2 & reset ALL video settings to default THEN Disable 'Postprocess Effects'. Save settings! 5/ DO turn up the fan speed on your GPU when playing ARMA2 - experiment to find the lowest stable setting. The above process fixes lots of graphical issues that are largely created by updating drivers/GPU's/settings in the first place! If this fixes the problem you can then work from here changing ingame video settings one at a time until you hit your pc configs sweetspot! If you want to improve ingame performance there are numerous suggestions out there, however the common concensus would suggest that XP32 bit is best platform and that lag is mainly due to HDD read speed rather than CPU/GPU or RAM. Solid state drives would appear to be the way forward to solve this although I will personally be waiting 'till prices drop before going this route. (probably at least a year!) In the meantime I use XP with a seperate hardware profile for ARMA2 which disables all unnecessary services & devices thus freeing up CPU time & RAM for the game engine - if you are not comfortable creating & testing a new/safe hardware profile then there is an excellent bit of software called 'gamebooster' that will achieve nearly as good results - just make sure you don't let it disable anything to do with ALG/firewall or your anti-virus if you are playing online. Happy if any of the above helps anyone. Apologies if I have repeated some solutions that have already been posted but felt the need to put it all in one place. I run with all video settings on normal with a viewdistance of 3km on a modest spec. only experiencing lag when I fly over the biggest cities. Specs: XP32bit/Q6600@2.4/generic SATA hdd/3GB generic RAM/XFS 4890-1GB@870Mhz (factory overclock)/750w PSU (pc world actually - but kicks the cr@p out of the 'top brand' one I had before!) PS; Anyone else out there think the world has gone a bit overclock stupid?
  6. My wishlist! 1/ Some decent sound for freefalling/chute opening when you Halo. 2/ A way to get rid of 'blackouts' when you or your AI jumps out for Halo. 3/ A 'James Bond' style eject button controlled by the pilot - to 'lose' those pesky heli-door gunners in MP who insist on wasting all the ammo shooting at nothing en-route to target! Don't suppose this will happen as it would probably be open to abuse!? 4/ A better/optimised ingame VOIP solution so we don't have to use TS etc. ...& that's just for now! Love the game BIS - been playin' since OFP CWC and never looked back (despite the inevitable bugs in a game of this scale with so may variables at play). While I'm here a big thanks to ALL modders in the community, between BIS & you lot there is always a way forward that makes ARMA2 the most re-playable game bar none.

Ditto Binks - both archives broken, please re-upload, Thanks. PS: Love stuff all you modders bring to the game.
  8. Been playin' since OFP days (& Arma/Arma2) it's been a long journey so far! We have always had the naysayers on the forums, sometimes they have a point - sometimes they need to learn a little patience but with a bit of luck the worst of them will just get bored & go away. Arma2 (in my opinion) is the best game of this genre bar none. There may be other games that tried and failed completely (one very recent - you know who you are!), but NONE with such a fantastic modding community & ongoing free support from the makers. I recently downloaded 1.05 & played EW without any problems whatsoever - I thought it was great fun. @BIS - Guys (& gals), THANKYOU, there are many (like me) who dont post because we're too busy playin' the game or downloading a new toy for it! We understand that the complexity of what you do means we will encounter some problems along the way, we are greatful that the devs listen to the feedback & we understand that it has never been possible to please ALL the people ALL the time, we are happy to wait for the fixes, we are enjoying ARMA 2 more than any other game and we are in this with BIS for the long haul (always have been). We've watched you nurture this baby from the beginning & it just keeps getting better. You should be very proud. This is more than a game, this is artistry - and BIS are the masters of this art. Just keep doin' what you're doin' - coz you do it better than anyone else. Happy Christmas to all at BIS and all in the community. There... I've said it now (registered just for this) and i feel better already.
