  1. I hope in Arma 3 that you can command a pilot in your squad to engage an area on a map not dependent on an enemy AI target present. Also that you can tell the Pilot which ordinance to use whether to strafe with guns or use freefall bombs. You should not have to laser the target just hit M for map and click where you want the pilot to hit on the map and then select what ordinance he should use. Here is how i would use it. I just ejected over enemy territory and still have radio contact with the wingman pilot. I use map to provide coordinates of a spotted enemy infantry on a hill or near a building. It would be nice if i could tell the pilot to engage with bombs and watch the bombs fall onto the coordinates I gave him over the radio. Presently in Arma2OA you have to laser the target.Without laser you can spot enemy infantry and tell the pilot to engage and fire but the jet will just make low passes over the target. He may strafe until he runs out of bullets but he will not use any other ordinance like bombs. Another way would be to have pilots waiting at base for your command while you recon enemy patrols and that you can pull out your map and click the coordinates of the enemy and tell the pilots what ordinance to use or by default they choose. Still would be nice to tell your pilots under your command to use what you want on the enemy you spot on the ground. If you only made one change it would be to allow AI Pilots to drop bombs without having to laser the target. When I fly I drop bombs on enemy positions without some AI having to laser the target for me, I'm just asking for the same from the AI. Also, If it isn't in there already please make counter measures or flares from jets have option to be auto or manual so I can ration the flares and use at right moment. Radar on the Hud should show incoming missile so that you can break at the right moment and drop flares. I hate getting killed by a missile totally undetected by my radar and never knowing when I'm even targeted by enemy radar. Some addons like euro typhoon are close to what I want but they use all flares automatically til gone. :cool: ---------- Post added at 06:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:26 PM ---------- I like this as well. Simplified version though...TAB spam til you lock the target of choice and choose laser guided bomb or free fall bomb and the instruments would give you audible signal to release bomb over target or when pip is lined up correctly. ---------- Post added at 07:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:50 PM ---------- Also If your commanding a pilot from ground that you can command any target on map (tree, empty car, house) to be bombed with your choice of ordinance from pilots ordinance load via action menu so calling in air support would feel more immersive and effective during combat and not having to rely on laser targeting. Like the way they did it in Vietnam using map coordinates to call in Napalm strikes.
  2. Please make mission making use less scripting. Use many more drop down lists in Waypoints, triggers, and in game radio calling features that spawn results from base without scripting. Examples: Call in custom airstrike,custom resupply trucks,custom reinforcements. The airstrike would spawn at base, navigate to you, hit location you set on map and then RTB and actually fly there,land,and dismiss. Custom supply truck convoy spawns from base navigates using streets and not forest,steep mountain,or deep water,delivers supply and if fail they radio to you mission incomplete and why(destroyed by ambush enemy airstrike etc). Call in C-130 that spawns at base and navigates to you dropping custom supplies and reinforcements and RTB. Call in UAV that spawns and gives you thermal image screen of nearby activity. Complete artillery templates that spawn artillery when radio called by either side and do not disappear and stay available for radio fire mission until destroyed by enemy. Waypoints that have larger selection to have units: set up camp, set up perimeter, construct base, set up triage, search an entire building,Use nearest vehicles by default etc,etc. Playable AI that respawn and find nearest vehicle and navigate back to squad leader instead of walking 10 miles in straight line crossing deep water ignoring the bridge 10meters away and showing up to squad leader ready to fight a tank with only a pistol because he let his gear sink in deep water.LOL Radio calls in game that call for custom helicopter extractions that spawn from base or your choice and navigate to your map location and wait til your in and take you where you need to go without scripting. A great aircraft carrier that has all functions and textures with similarities of Nimitz addon yet a step further with no bugs.

Tiggers that spawn Opfor/Blufor custom size and amount units to attack do etc. without scripting Make scenario and mission making easier for the average joe who doesn't know how to or have time to learn scripting and code.

    I cannot get this addon to work with the Warfare module in any case. Does anyone else have this problem? I get "error, client id cannot be determined" and the carrier won't show up in game and all units under water. Without the module everything works fine. Any solutions? I like using the warfare modules.

    Works for me accept in one mission that uses war module in a warfare. Error say "Clientid cannot be determined" and the carrier won't show up in preview. When I place in empty same map it works.     Right, I just played with ACE, the same mission. Getting the AI pilot to go to a position on the map and then hover and face the enemy target is a challenge. Even ignored stop commands. Horribly flies past the position and when stops is always facing away from target. Needs tweeking and a better way IMO. Sometimes you get him to stop correctly and its great. He hovers indefinitely but when you need to adjust position for around buildings is when trouble starts.

    Does the Ace system address this problem? Do Hellfires do more damage with ACE? The real problem is still the AI control in the chopper.

    Yes, This is one of my biggest complaints with Arma2 that I wish they would fix. If you cannot control the AI pilots better such as in auto-hover you should be able to command pilot to turn chopper L,R,UP, or dn to line up target when you play as gunner. Or the ability to tell Pilot to engage a target with hydra missiles while you are gunner. More powerful Hellfires that actually kill nearby people. Using BigDawgs Hellfire addon that uses topdown hellfire strikes i lasered a hellfire right near an enemy soldier and he ran away, Ridiculous! But tanks and cars are toast. I wish they would patch for this and certainly address this in Arma3. Also, I wish the animations, like in real life, would show disintegration of enemies when hit by 20mm or bigger and not just throw them a few yards away. Just animate a splattery mess which looks great under Thermalvision.This is a simulator by the way. Kids don't play this game like COD.   10. Where is the data streamed to and from in Arma 2 by default? Ram and the pagefile. So where is the data streamed to and from if the pagefile is turned off? Ram I suspect, or you have out of memory errors. If i'm right why not turn off pagefile when playing Arma 2 and turn it back on for the Apps that need it such as FarCry 2 which stuttered without pagefile. Ram is as fast as Ramdrive since Ram=Ram. The option to turn off pagefile is there for your convenience. I've tested both ways with ramdrive and folder links to different drives... and no pagefile works best for me. Buy more ram and force arma2 to use it.

    I tried to load this addon to arma2 and it says i need version 1.54 of this application. My version is 1.7 .I don't have OA. Is this mod compatible with my setup?

    ArmA 3 and backwards compatibility

    Key words... newer and better. So why would you go back to older and worse?? A new game that plays better out of the box and with the ability to mod and make addons that are newer and better.
  13. Mark, Ace slows down my pc and i would like to use HI FI without it , is this possible? I took out the Ace PBO in the HI FI addons folder and the game crashes when loading the main menu. It seems to play fine with Ace but my frames suffer. Awesome sounds btw.

    Hello, I am new to Arma 2 and...

    Flying is really not hard at all if you re- map your keyboard to a game your more familiar with i.e.. BF2. I played Bf2 alot and flying in that game I mastered. Arma 2 is much different initially, but when I re- mapped the keys to be like Bf2 it made flying a breeze. Arma 2 actually has better free look and you can look around your aircraft while you fly unlike BF2. The only thing Bf2 had that arma 2 doesn't was the fly by . If its in the game i haven't found it yet. Anyway, try remapping your controls to a game that you already know like BF2 or some other game . Also, I see that some people use the joystick to fly. Its not necessary and what do you do when you get on the ground? Run around with your joystick in your hand??? Hope this helps.
