Iron Front in Arm3 LITE - preview versions
77scout replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Would this explain why I suddenly have UK Desert Rats with invisible Lee Enfields and invisible PIATs in recent missions? -
How can I get rid of ennemy markers ?
77scout replied to neodammerung's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Within game, look under Game Options, then Difficulty (edit). Most of thos HUD settings can be turned off there. I use 'expert' setting with everthing set to disabled and there is nothing on my screen, not even the peripheral dots. -
When playing as a Russian, my squad speaks Russian as I would expect. But in real life I don't understand Russian so would actually like to have my Russian squad speak English (I'll just pretend we are all speaking Russian). I know that I can turn on subtitles, but that's not what I am interested in. So is there a simple way to have my Russian squad-mates use the same english-language voice files that the USMC characters use? Even better would be a mod that provides english voices but with a russian-accent, if such a thing exists. Thanks!

ARMA 2: CO (how to combine ARMA 2 into ARMA 2:OA and use together)
77scout replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I just bought Comined Operations from Amazon as well. I installed Arma2, then installed Operation Arrowhead into the Arma2 directory (C:program files\bohemia interactive\ARMA2). The two simply combined automatically. When I run using the OA desktop shortcut I have all the ARMA2 and OA content together in the game as it is supposed to be. Worked quite simply for me. -
No, that is not at all what I said. You asked about menu items 5 and 6, which are commands for individual members, and I was only talking about menus 5 and 6. 'Danger' is in menu 7. What has that got to do with it menus 5 and 6? Menu items 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, and 9 are commands that can apply to more than one squad member.
-
Menu items 5 and 6 only apply to an individual soldier. If you select only one guy (e.g. F2) then these menus should be active (not greyed out)...they are on my game anyway. If you select more than one guy (e.g. spacebar) I think the 5 and 6 menus will be inactive. If you are not the squad leader then of course you can't give commands, but I am sure you know that already.

Tactical View. Cheating or not…? Rationale ?
77scout replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Its not a matter of cheating or not, but simply how you want to play. If you are trying to simulate real life you will refuse to use tactical view because it is an unrealistic ability If you are playing this as just a 'game' then use what ever aids you like. If the helicopter has spotted you, then yes, probably all enemies know your position and are looking right in your direction. Your guys have radios and communicate info...so do the bad guys AFAIK. I believe that the AI view is not blocked by grass, so when you think you are well hidden with only your head showing they actually see you as if you are out on the bald prairie, fully exposed. The grass issue is my biggest peeve in ARMA2, and I had to turn the grass fully off to 'level the playing field', otherwise in the grass you are blind and the AI aren't (i.e. you die every time). -
The laser designator only shows the red dot when playing on 'regular' or below. If you play on a higher level like 'expert' there is no red dot. Left click once to turn the designator on and then you have to just trust that it is functioning.

I have a simple 2-speaker system and can't hear directions at all, not even the basics of whether the shots are coming from left or right.
-
It means use the 'enter' key that is located in the number pad on the right side of your keyboard, as opposed to the main 'enter key'

Is it just me, or do APC's and Tanks seem to have extrordinary vision and awareness...it's beyond what I would expect. In real life I thought crews bottled up in an armored vehicle had very poor ability to see (especially infantry under cover), but in the game I am getting shot dead by these units as if they are using x-ray vision and laser guided snipers bullets. I can be crawling on my belly in deep bush trying to get a shot at them with my SMAW, have yet to fire or even see them yet, and they blast me. Or I can be half a mile away through the trees and they blast me. I never even see the APC until the 'red screen scene' shows who killed me. Seems wrong to me, but I am not a military person. I would be interested in other's opinions. Is the APC-super-vision screwey and needs fixing, or is it correct and I should just 'suck it up'.
-
Thanks guys, this is all very helpful. I had not thought of thermal imaging basically 'stripping away' light-cover like bushes. Boy, that makes these APC's very hard to attack. I agree that the AI knowledge of my position seems way too fast and too good. Instead of the AI knowing "rifle shots are coming from that woods 300m away" and spraying supressing fire in my general direction, they actually know "shots are coming from behind that exact tree 300m away" and their first shot seems to hit you between the eyes. I will keep an eye out for the ACE2 mod...thanks!

Corpsmen (medics) have a red-cross emblem on their icon...obvious. But some other of my squad have a crossed-arrows symbol on their icon...what does that mean?
-
OK, that's a good start. Thanks. But what does that mean in the game? If I have two of these guys in my 10-man unit, how are they different and how would I use them to best advantage?
-
So I am on the mountain for the observation task and trying to laser the house for the airstrike. But I can't get the laser designater to work. I sight the house with the laser unit and left click mouse to 'fire' the laser and no red dot. The Razor leader guy keeps saying over and over "I don't any lasr Coop, you sure you got that thing switched on?" I do have the battery in my gear. I have tried every other click and key I can think of to fire the laser and no luck. What am I missing? Thanks for any assistance.

Into The Storm - Laser Problem, Need Help
77scout replied to 77scout's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Problem solved. Just in case someone else has the same problem... The laser designator only shows the red dot when playing on 'regular' or below. If you play on a higher level like 'expert' there is no red dot. Left click once to turn the designator on and then you have to just trust that it is functioning. -
I cannot get the laser designator to work. I have needed to use it in both the Village Sweep scenario or the Into The Storm part of the campaign and had no luck turning the red dot on either time. A search of the forum has not helped. Here is what happens... I select the laser designator with the mouse wheel, the designator comes up fine and I am able to look through the sight, but I cannot get the red dot to turn on. I think it should just be a simple left or right click, but that doesn't do anything, neither does any other key or control seem to activate it (I have tried all i could think of). It is not a lack of batteries...I do have the battery in my 'gear'. Am I doing something wrong or is my install possibly messed up somehow?
-
Confirmed. I get the red dot and green circle if i switch to 'regular', but on 'expert' there is neither. Left click turns it on, you just get no feedback that it is on. So I guess the trick is don't click more than once or you have no idea if it is off or on. Thanks Hidden Sniper...you saved my sanity!
-
If that's true then it would explain it...I am on 'expert'. I will test this out and report back. Still, seems weird; how are you supposed to know if it is off or on? In campaign mission 'Into The Storm' when I call the airstrike on the house and tanks the Razor leader keeps telling me he sees no laser and asks if I have it turned on. Hmmm.

Into The Storm - Laser Problem, Need Help
77scout replied to 77scout's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Thanks Luke. Your description matches a video walkthrough I just found on line. Seems it should work as you described but it doesn't on my system...strange. So I have replayed the whole campaign again with the same result. I definately picked up the battery in the helicopter and it still shows in my gear. I select the Laser Designator as my weapon with the mouse wheel and the laser viewer comes up fine, but neither right or left mouse button (clicking or holding) gives a red dot. Left click pops up a 'send it in' menu option, but clicking that just starts the team leader's rant about me not having the thing turned on.
