PogMoThoin replied to suma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I'm liking this patch, it feels much smoother with a slight increase oin fps. I see mentions of dedicated server in the fixes, should I be running it on our dedicated server? Anyone tried it on a dedi box? -

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
PogMoThoin replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
From what I've seen, the new features of Arrowhead are just ones we already have in ACE 2 and other mods, ie Little Birds, FLIR, M32, Mando Missiles etc. They just copy what the community already made? -

PogMoThoin replied to oktane's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thank You, but I had chanced it and tried the one for last beta without any issues -
Eh, Sorry to stop You there, but it did happen, 14 people died in Croke park that day including 2 children, 2 footballers, along with dozens of other wounded and injured. You've read the wrong history books m8 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Sunday_%281920%29 http://gaaweb.sitesuite.cn/page/bloody_sunday.html

Will this work ok with the new beta patch? -
What You need to know is, Arma 2 isn't the game for everyone, it takes a lot of dedication to get good at it, its a true sim that takes a long time to learn. Most of my friends I advised to get it stopped playing it after a few days, too much of a learning curve for them. You cannot push this game on anyone, they'll either like it or hate it. Of course everyone here loves it, Me included, I've had My most awesome gaming moments in the game, and I'm playing games 25+ years :D

Can only imagine that Ace would bring a whole new set of issues, why not add it sooner rather than later and get them ironed out. You're going to add it anyway, I know You are :D -

Could the squads be made smaller? I'm not used to so many in the squad and just let people play as they wished, everyone knew what their role was and just got on with it, I'm sure this is why it worked so well. 8-10men is too much for the side missions when small groups of 4-6 would work better. With so many men it was slightly disorientaning at times. -

Troubleshooting TrackIR in ArmA 2 / OA
PogMoThoin replied to Merad's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Could it be that the Trackir camera looses sight of one of Your reflectors and centres the viewpoint? Open the trackir software in full screen view and look up, does one of the reflectors get obscured or go out of view by the camera? -
Print this out mate

The console ports we've seen up to now haven't really been multi-threaded though have they, they thrashed the shit out of one single core, used loads of ram and barely put the gpu under any pressure at all. This game engine is different, it scales well on pc, brings my pc to its knees actually, uses all 4 cores and uses every bit of power my 4870x2 has. Nice to see a game making full use of my expensive hardware for a change, I feel like I'm getting value for all the money I've spent, long time since I could say that. The game is good, but it isn't perfect. I had gripes with it and disliked the ending,
-
Those are the signs of a multi platform game, not console port. The game uses all of my 4 cores, show me a console port that can do that? I can also run the advanced PhysX on the cpu cores as its multithreaded (cos I've not got nvidia gpu), again show me a console port that does that. This engine was built with multi-core in mind, the game was made to suit all platforms.
-
Its actually ported from the Pc to the Xbox360 so therefore isn't a console port. Actually this is the best visual game We've seen since Crysis (I don't see any other developers pushing boundaries graphically) and You slam it as a console port, Shame on You . I had no problems with the controls (other than the usual gripe of not having Q and E lean), in fact the parts of the game where You faced human enemies played very well. As for the saving checkpoints, what do You want, quicksave, to me as a tactical gamer thats just cheating and shouldn't be in any game. (BTW, I'm actually playing Call of Pripyat here also, its not all that great, certainly not as good as the first SOC)
