  1. played loads of arma 2 with a couple of mates and looking to get back into arma 3 and wanted to ask opinions about mods, interested in an ai mod, used to use zeus ai back in arma 2, but is there anything better these days. after a discussion we would really prefer current gen vehicles units weapons etc, I've just read you can port over arma 2 stuff, does this work flawlessly or is bugs / errors? is there any other mods that use current gen vehicles units weaponry etc any must have mods that improve on the vanilla exp? doesnt have to be anything in particular could just be an improved compass or something! used ace on arma 2 for added realism from time to time, and although there was some nice improvements, sometimes it was a bit to hardcore for us, not got as much time as i used to, used to try out near enough every single mod loads of trial and error etc, but i would really appreciate if someone could post a small collection of must have mods to improve the experience rather than just vanilla, so we can hit the ground running many thanks in advance and ANY suggestions welcome
  2. i've got the same mobo as yourself and cpu but a gtx 260, using the default win 7 network card driver performs a whole lot better for me than the latest one from the gigabyte website, give that a try and see if it removes the sluggishness. your frames should be around the same with a small improvement but should be a lot smoother. it really did stump me for a few days, I normally leave the default windows 7 network driver on but in my quest to get arma running as smooth as poss i decided to try the latest official driver when i recently upgraded my cpu and gpu, i would host morning dew on takistan and would be super smooth, but as soon as my m8 joined the server, even just the lobby, my game would get a wierd micro stutter, soon as they left back to normal super smoothness, exactly the same when i joined there server, and when i joined any multiplayer server. as soon as i done the roll back the problem vanished. is also some settings you can do in your ati catalyst control panel, similar to what i have done in my nvidia control panel that may improve the smoothness to, if you want me to take a screenshot/post my settings here let me know.
  3. you can get your ip from http://www.whatsmyip.org/ but youll probably have to open some ports on your firewall / router. which are 2302 UDP ArmA2 game network communication. 2303 UDP Gamespy public server reporting. 2305 UDP Voice Over Net transmission. if ya need any assitance let me know saying that you probably wont need your ip though because your friend should see your game in the multiplayer browser in arma 2, whatever you called your server when you hosted, but youll still need to open the ports

    PVP, TVT Gaming (good post)

great post! what a game! still needs some work / updates but im glad they have released it as is for now ;) least we get to play it, have had many good nights playing the game so far.
  5. cheers fella's for advice ill think ill wait until next dedicated server.exe in that case.. would love a 128 man server with no lag then, do you think once the server exe is updated it could be possible t have 128 with little lag or no lag?
  6. they do 64 man servers on arma II? i see they have arma listed but not arma II and on arma is only a 10 man or 20 man option. sure is cheap aswell. 20 slots for 15 notes more or less so would only be 45 quid for 60 slot? edit emailed them and they do for around £60 a month... thanks for recommendation
  7. been enjoying the game since i got it few days ago but have noticed that the 64 man servers when full always seem to lag. is this because there servers are not of a good quality or is it just the games netcode no matter how good your server is? also most server seem to be co-op but i really enjoy the HOLD type of game play like berzerk. we have 3 of us who are m8s in real life from London UK who are thinking of getting a 64 public server to host HOLD PVP but firstly i just want to know if it will run lag free and at what cost. i would imagine the server would coust around £80 - 120 pounds or so but anyone got any more concrete prices or the best way to go about it. does anyone know of a good arma II dedicated server hosting company? would hiring a dedicated server be a better idea? much appreciated any advice. p.s also looking for another 3 - 5 people from the UK / Europe to spread the cost per month if possible and play online with for better teamwork on ventrillo. not looking to start a squad / clan for the public server so dont have to leave your current squad / clans or anything. i would just love a 64 man hold public server to play on whenever i fancy a game that was as lag free as possible. if anyone is interested then post here and ill pm my contact details.

    Can't connect

ok i couldnt connect to mulltiplayer servers either at first. now to join a server you shouldnt have to open a port, only if your planning on hosting should you have to open the port. you will have to allow a port on a firewall but usually most firewalls will automatically ask you to allow it. now over the years on my router ive opened a lot of ports for various games . on a couple of games i had something wierd where if i had the port open i could host the game but not join other servers. so i would have to open and close the port depending on whether i was hosting or joining so to try and get arma II MP working, on my router i removed all the ports i allowed except for a couple of programs and then i could join all servers on multiplayer no problem.. my router is a netgear wr614 list of ports i closed were. 48942 - 48957 26900 - 26907 2300 - 2400 1900 - 1900 8080 3074 27000 - 27015 27020 - 27050 1200 3784 was one of them but no idea which one. never know someone else may have similar problem so thought i'd post.
