  1. I started this project right after GM was announced and upon noticing that it wouldn't contain any fixed or rotary-wing assets upon launch. Still WIP and subject to change.

    What it will contain:

    • Two units of the Army Aviation Corps that would have operated in the North German Plain during wartime.
    • Accurate airframe markings (In German where applicable) per Bund specs and doctrine.
    • Three helo's per unit with historical aircraft registrations, unit crests, and FRD markings.
    • An additional helo added (BSG) just for fun.

@DetCord The SPAAG vehicles serve as perfect mission objectives of course. We'd very much like to include helicopters into future updates. The exact form, content and release date of these updates is however currently unclear. Any future update to the DLC will need to be propery QA'd by Bohemia as well, so other scheduling concerns need to be considered. I can tell you however already that CH-53G and Bo-105 aircraft already exist to a very advanced state. At one point we simply needed to make a cut to get GM out at some point.

    Thanks for insight.

One more question though given that I just noticed where exactly the map is located. Have you guys modeled the infamous Helmstedt (Marienborn) Checkpoint?!😛

  3. I'm confused as to why you have FlakPz 1A1's and ZSU-23's triple-A vehicles without having any actual air assets to fight. It's a bit like having scuba gear for troops in a landlocked desert environment.

I understand if this is a planned FREE expansion to the existing product down the road, say Bo-105's and DDR Mi-24D's. But if you plan to charge for like assets, assets meant to have been included at the outset, then you're going to face some rather heavy push-back, and rightly so. I just hope you take these concerns into consideration before moving forward with the development plan and what seems like an infinite monetization with regards to potential expansions, vehicles, assets, terrains, etc.

  4. It gives a better idea of the artist's process. For instance, this model looks pretty dense to be a game model... and it makes me wonder what the advantage of working in all triangles is, and what the all-triangulated work-flow is like. What's the poly count?

Currently sitting at 37k, which is high, but that will change once its OM'd properly. I haven't even touched O2 yet and likely won't for quite some time.

  5. Damn, she is looking fine. I could kiss you dude! :yay:

The 58 is on the back-burner for awhile, I'm still fairly new to modeling and it can take me forever to actually get anything done. The good news is that Autodesk approved my free version of Max (an hour ago) due to the fact that I'm currently in the military/Veteran. So, I can get back to working on both birds at a decent pace. I was using Blender after my Max trial expired, but I found the menu system/UI really obtuse.

    @ Adumb

    Better version for ya.

Hi-res render at 4096x3112. The image comes in at around 35MB's, so it might take awhile to open.

  6. nice bird ! like the work so far. would you mind to make a cicilian verion too ? so also you can use that nice bird in citylife2 or if you just like to play civilian ;)

    looking forward to it.

No plans for a civilian version, that is why it has the UH military designation.

Do any of the doors animate open and close?

Haven't thought that far ahead to be honest.

Nice model, wish someone gave this much attention to the OH-58. Good job!

    Like this one?

  7. Also didn't know the Nat guard still used UH-1's until you noted it, thought those where phased out long ago.

LOL mate, you're not the only one!

I was convinced they had all been long phased out until I put boots on ground in Afghanistan my last deployment. Even then, I was certain they were Afghan birds. It wasn't until I walked up to the FARP and actually saw the US MIL markings on them did I realize they were ours. Was a bit like a culture shock so too speak.

  8. Aw, Nice, looking good.

So these are being used in conjunction with the OH-58F's in the US army?

They're supposed to replace some of the 58D's mate, though nothing concrete as of yet. The UH-72A has flown in Afghanistan as a MedEvac bird, however, I've only seen a few flying around here at Riley and none in theater.

  9. I've been working on this for a little over a month, when time presents itself.

The UH-72 Lakota is a twin-engine helicopter with a single, four-bladed main rotor. The UH-72 is a militarized version of the Eurocopter EC145 and is built by American Eurocopter division of EADS North America. Initially marketed as the UH-145, the helicopter was selected as the winner of the United States Army's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) program on 30 June 2006. In October 2006, American Eurocopter was awarded a production contract for 345 aircraft to replace aging UH-1H/V and OH-58A/C helicopters in the Army and Army National Guard fleets.

Hoping to look into doing several different variants that include the UH, OH, and AH versions.
