    ARMA2:OA - Random CTD

Try setting memory to HIGH, that helps many people.
  2. If you experience blurry graphics, and blurry in game texts in particular with your ATI HD58-series, you can solve this by opening Catalyst Control Center and in the 3D settings section change the sliders from Optimal Performance to High Performance. I had this problem, and tried to solve it by editing my ArmA2OA.cfg, chanching in-game settings, etc, I tried everything but the problem persisted. Then I figured maybe I should experiment with the CCC, and, much to my surprise, this turned out to be the extremely simple solution... To solve it, do this --> Open CCC, select 3D, slide the slider in the 'Standard' section from 'Optimal Performance' to 'High Performance', click 'apply', then click 'save', and the problem is solved, it really is that simple.
  3. Hi Cat Toaster and all the others developing/playing AAS. I haven't been playing the game for quite some time now but I've just ordered OA so sometime next week I'll be joining you people on the battlefields again. I can't wait!

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Well, I installed build 59928, the latest one on http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php. I still have the same issues as Desert, the threadstarter (on page 1 of this thread he posted a screen of what it looks like). As I've said before, the game worked perfectly with 8GB UNTIL I installed my new HD5870, and I never had to use any maxmem or -winxp commands. Now, with the HD5870, the game works only when I use the -winxp command. I have the feeling that performance is affected by this command however. Any news of the upcoming 1.05 patch solving this issue?

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Thanks Pinky, now that I know that betapatches don't affect performance and are compatible with MP I'll try the latest one.

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Thanks Liquidpinky. I still have some questions though: Does the -winxp command hamper performance, specifically fps? (I mean, why is everyone so glad that they don’t need it anymore?) And if it does, will the issue be resolved with a patch (like build 59926)? Do people install separate smaller patches (like 59926) in between the regular patches (like 1.04)? Are build 59926 and other smaller separate patches integrated in a general 1.05 patch? When will patch 1.05 be released? Sorry for all my questions, I'm still a bit of a noob.

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Since I installed my HD5870 I also had this problem (please look at my system specs below). I never had any such problems before. Nothing else has changed in my system, I just replaced my HD4850 with the new HD5870 and the troubles began... I fixed it by using the -winxp modification. Here comes my (maybe a little noobish) question: Does the -winxp extension hamper performance? And if so, will the upcoming patch solve this? And last but not least, if it does, should I remove the -winxp extension before or after installing the new build 59926 patch? Thanks for your help guys.

    Radeon HD5870, HELP ME!!!

thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U must be a genius, that worked! Thanks again man.
  14. After installing my new XFX Radeon HD5870 I got these strange blocky effects as soon as the game starts running. Objects show almost no detail and most of them seem to hover over the ground. It makes no difference if I select lowest or highest graphics settings, I've tried them all. At first I thought that maybe my psu is not sufficient (Coolermaster Realpower Pro 520) but that does not seem to be the problem: I can run Prime 95, Unigine Heaven DirectX 11, 3DMark06 benchmarks and other games without any trouble and at the highest settings... I've got the latest driver installed (Catalyst 9.10), and even reinstalled the game, all to no avail. Before with my Radeon HD4850, although at low settings it ran smoothly. See my system specs below, as I said, the game ran well until I installed the 5870. Please, does anyone know a solution?

    Radeon HD5870, HELP ME!!!

Somehow I don't know how to add the extension to my shortcut, I've tried "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe-nosplash -winxp" but all that happens is that Vista tells me the program doesn't exist or has been moved. @kklownboy: I did not change anything except the graphics card... Never had any issues before. PLEASE, I NEED HELP
