Great work! I like the "Game design, not simulation" theory. Will be interesting to see how this data stacks up against mods.

I just tested this mod, and wish to thank you for your great work. It is what I have been looking for a long time.

Fixed Wing Flight Model (dev branch)
moondawg replied to dezkit's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Incorrect. Most Countermeasure equipped aircraft have a CM button on the stick. At least for F16/ A10C it controls chaff/flares and ECM/jammer, and selects programs that are set up in the countermeasure panel.- 874 replies

Fixed Wing Flight Model (dev branch)
moondawg replied to dezkit's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Hi Oukej, thanks for at least trying to improve the fixed wing flight characteristics of A3 I was just recently aware of your efforts, and tried it out the A10 FM addon today. I have no real life experience in this, but am an avid flightsimmer, with many hours in DCS A10. First off, I have no rudder authority at all, not that i can notice anyway. I know my rudder pedal works, because I can turn when taxiing on the ground. That the airframe now turns slightly when banked is great, but it requires very little backstick to maintain level turn. So little that level turns are really hard to do, esp. with no rudder. Thats about it, as I understand there are severe limits on how complex this can be simulated, but at least the feel is much better than vanilla FM. Another thing that's bothering me, but probably not in the scope of this project, is that the engine sounds "Lose rpm" when losing speed, when the throttle is in a fixed position.- 874 replies

I just reinstalled with files from Armaholic, and overwrote the PW6 updated ones. And LO and BEHOLD! I can now configure my keys again. You might give the PW6 guys a heads up on that, nkey. And still thanks for a great mod :)
-
I am running TFAR v0.9.7.3 with CBA 1.1.20.150408, updated with PW6. Still not able to configure keys.
-
ye, not seeing the TFAR options under configure addons either. Not in mission, not in (not empty) main menu. Thanks for a great mod, though.

Lowlandswarrior RNLAF AH-64D Apache
moondawg replied to Crielaard's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Just wanted to chime in and say thank you for this great airframe! Love the groundstabilization, and the semi advanced fire control system. I would add my voice to the collective issue though. Either the Axis are off, or the Helicopter is underpowered. Not that I have ever flown a real Apache, but needing close to 100% collective for level flight seems to leave little room for safe margins. -
Arma 3 Sound Missing in Multiplayer
moondawg replied to garverick's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have this problem, I cannot hear other people firing any weapons, nor see the animations, likewise, other players cannot hear me. Players firing vehicle/mounted wepons works fine, and i also see and hear AI smallarms just fine. I tried a full reinstall of A3, as well as all the mods to no avail. So to troubleshoot, I started up everything vanilla with another player on our regular server, then everything worked fine. We then proceeded to add one and one mod, until we ran all the mods we normally use. To my surprise, everything worked fine, and the problem seems to be gone. So much for the scientific approach. However, I'm not convinced this problem is gone, and I will report back i I discover more, as well as keep a keen eye on this thread. For those affected, i understand the frustration, it put me off playing for two months.. For those interested, these are the mods we all run, and should have synced via pw6: @CBA_A3 @agm @AllInArmaTerrainPack @cTab @FA18_A3 @task_force_radio @BlastCore_A3 @JSRS2 @st_stamina_bar @sthud_a3 -
I have been using my Merc stealth for 3 years now, Its awsome for gaming, if you don't mind the slightly nerdy look. http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/keyboards/merc_stealth/information

This is great indeed. As a long time PR player recently moved to arma, I couldn't be happier. The level of teamplay in PR is unmatched. Looking forward to this. -
Norwegian Arma 2 Team - Recruiting
moondawg replied to cri74's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
Our new forums are up, come and visit! We have had quite a few new recruits, and play a lot on the TV2 servers, if not in a mission on our own. We are welcoming new players who would like to play with a like minded bunch of guys and gals, who take it serious to a degree :) -
I guess the Mk82 simulates a proper CCIP sight on the hud.

Low GPU-load in game (one single-chipped videocard)
moondawg replied to McArcher's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Actually, I can see all my four cores individually as I play, and they are usually equally around 40-70% So no 1 core struggling as the others hang around. This leads me to believe the bottleneck is somewhere else. And as people are stating over and over again, that is most likely the HD. -

Thanks for all the replies, And yes yoma, it was not meant to discredit the fine work on arma and storagemediums. However I run this from a rather fastish raid0 array, but I guess it still is too slow.. My main gripe with this is that Arma is by far my favorite game, and I'd like to see it shine :) -
Low GPU-load in game (one single-chipped videocard)
moondawg replied to McArcher's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
That may be, but still Arma uses the least resources of all my games, and runs below expectations. It might be worth mentioning that I have run arma2 on XP, Vista and now win7. Vista was the worst, but there is no discernible difference from xp to win7 for me. Ran a check on a server with few players, and the GPU never went above 40%. Hehe, And I bought that card for this game. What a waste. Well, I guess it only supports the theory that Arma2 is heavily HD dependent.. -
Low GPU-load in game (one single-chipped videocard)
moondawg replied to McArcher's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Same experience here. I saw the symptoms of low Hw utilization, and decided to check it out. Running a Q9400@3,2 and a 4890 1gb, the processors are rarely over 70%, And the gpu never over 75% And before you ask, my temps are all cool. So Arma doesn't utilize the systems full potential, although all other games does, unless they cap at 60fps (vsync) Now, when I the get 30-33 fps on normal settings, and it dips to 20-25, I get slightly frustrated as Arma struggles, but my HW hardly breaks a sweat. Now, I love Arma, but i guess the engine is showing its age. -
graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)
moondawg replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I had these problems (as previously posted) with my 4890 1gb and XP. In vista64 it ran fine. Yesterday i updated my XP install with Cat 9.8 and patch 1.03 (not beta) And the problems were gone. All smooth, no artifacts, and better performance than my Vista64 install. Don't know whether it was the patch or drivers though. Or mysterious HW gremlins. -
So, poorly designed grenades then.
-
My understanding is that milking and cooking a grenade can be used as to describe the pre-priming of a grenade, whereas cooking also can mean detonation by heat, and milking to describe accidentally loosening your grip to a fatal degree. I, having thrown a few live grenades in my life, can't understand how it is possible to loosen your grip on a grenade to the extent that the hammer strikes the primer. The primer is designed such that the lever would have to move over 90 degrees to release the hammer. Unless of course, US grenade design is extremely, dangerously poor. Although i doubt that. Creds to the OP, though. The topic has brought enlightenment upon the subject, however pointless.

Arma2 dedicated server howto
moondawg replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Hi, I have a question, we have recently set up a server, but need to figure out how to autokick players with too high ping. How is this done? -
I don't understand what he's trying to advise us. Actually I don't understand what it is to â€Milk a grenade†Since it's not the act of cooking it off (releasing the handle prior to throwing the grenade.) As that was a separate warning. I would like the OP to clarify his warning, so that i don't accidentally milk my grenades. Addendum: I actually found out what the term â€milking a grenade is.†It IS the act of releasing the handle before throwing. Which makes the OP even weirder. Maybe he thought the lesson so important we had to be told twice with different words. I support the theory of a bragging civilian seeking acknowledgement in the presence of elite wargamers.

36, and loving my hobby. This coincides with the various Project Reality age polls, Tactics rather than twitch attracts more mature gamers.

I can’t believe this is what they went for when they set out to appease the flyboys. 50% brakes on an aircraft? Seriously? And still the â€set altitude†on choppers. How it ought to be is pretty much given: 0-100% throttle for fixed wing, A button for airbrakes/wheelbrakes. 0-100% Collective for rotary aircraft. I mean BF2 managed decent controls, even if the flight characteristics were on the arcadey side. And it worked well for stick and mouse/KB users both. So it can be done. It’s not that it is impossible to fly the aircraft, it just more fun when the controls are good. Having control of the aircraft in a direct manner gives a lot more pleasure, and that’s why we play games after all.. Please, fix this again, and do it right this time around.
