  1. Taken from another thread... Same thing for my 2 servers, I changed Code: reportingIP="arma2.master.gamespy.com";to Code: reportingIP="arma2pc.master.gamespy.com";and both are showing now. I had restarted both servers before, several times, and still not showing. Once I made the change above, both servers showed immediately after restart. Coincidence? I have no idea. They had worked with the previous setting for the last 2 months... Anyways, maybe give that a shot.

    issues please help

No Use is correct... sorry but you need much better VGA,Drive,cpu... your lappy just wont cut it. 3G Quad, 9800gt 1G, WD Black Raid 0 is only just good enough
  3. well I know what you mean but I am the other way mine was too smooth (liquid wallowing) I run these with smoothing of 15 it is very slow and smooth... mouseSensitivityX=0.28717339; mouseSensitivityY=1; unless something is screwy you should be able to get a feel you like by adjusting to what ever value that works for you.. EDIT: i just remembered I have hex edited my usb.sys port settings to sample at 500hz so I dont know how that will affect the settings relative to your std USB port sample rate
  4. yes 30 is default I run 15 as I dont like the spongy drunken feel of too much smoothing
  5. I have only noticed smoothing in the later patches and have always prefererred none... That said I now run v72 with smoothing set to 15 in my profile. Did you mean you removed your config file and your profile because they are two seperate files of course and smoothing is set in ur profile not config. Also if you have profiles other than your original they are stored in "My docs\Arma 2 other profiles" folder. (XP) So you would need to delete them also to clean out any saved settings.
  6. yeah well its not slow then...:) I dont know how the connection speed etc is handled in A2, I have not checked. I have also been barred from other games servers for having my client speed set too high as server was capped. eg AA2 Do any server admins know if that is a possibilty?
  7. I guess you guys know that defragging SSDs is bad...
  8. what speed is your connection? I had exact same issues when my ISP capped me to 64kbs it only works well for me on higher speed conn for testing turn off any virus/spyware also
  9. I am running: Demo full 1.03 install Beta install I get the usual ctd sometimes but I only play online so I dont think it is related to having demo and full game... I would uninstall, delete all config files and directories then do driver sweep and reinstall short answer = NO
  10. I have not kept up with latest patches as my game is running well on v14 except for the lack of artillery smoke, has anyone tried in latest beta to see if you get more than a 5 second wisp?
  11. yep nades were broken but they work for me arty smoke is still like nades were... I will dload latest beta and test. now working in v72 but still not huge amounts of smoke I guess too much would cause fps hit...

My impressions after 20 hours of play

Rhammstein I find ur post a little confusing... first you say you have a military background then dont seem to really understand what its like shooting the type of weapons modeled... an AK will shoot 400m without hitting the ground if it is aimed correctly although it wont have much remaining energy and even if it would not be easy it is still possible to hit targets at that range, by zeroing or holding over... Then you say you have played the game and have not noticed the very different ballistics for various weapons in game and you have not noticed the very obvious bullet drop over distance? Without the data we cant know if it simulates RL but I have extensive shooting experience at LR and the game feels right in that regard. The things that may be too subtle are the recoil on some weapons and the overall volume of them. The fact is if you are going full auto with an AK or an M249 you cant hear anything else. The other is how often you can score a LR body hit with a 7.62 rnd and the opfor stays on his feet and turns to return fire without so much as a flinch.( follow up hits drop them) I can live with any shortfalls with regard to weaps they feel pretty good. I can only see this game getting better with time. ps ppl should not compare the performance of this game/sim to most the others out there as it has way more going on in the game world than just about any other title out there.
  13. Sniper maybe I was not clear but if you read my post again you will note my reference to LOS and trajectory. I will explain but I am sure you know this... LOS stands for Line Of Sight which is the direct line to the target through the scope and trajectory is the bullet path. Yes gravity forces the bullet to start falling as soon as it leaves the muzzle so we must tilt the barrel up to compensate. This causes the LOS and the bullet path to converge and cross over so the bullet in fact travels in an arc or trajectory back down to point of impact just like throwing a long ball from the outfield to a catcher... you look straight at the guy but must throw upwards to make the ball hit the glove. If you go to any ballistic table on the web you will see diagrams of this. Go here and scroll down the page http://www.hornady.com/ballistics/external.php A quote from the text of one of the most highly regarded bullet manufactures in the world...Hornady A trajectory is a description of the flight path of a projectile relative to some known and fixed points. Trajectories for BBs, field artillery projectiles, naval gun shells, mortar rounds, and small arms bullets are all parabolic in shape.
  14. Just a heads up... I have found that often when I change settings I have to restart the game to get a true indication of the effect. I have had texture/LOD issues only to find them gone after a restart/reboot.
  15. Interesting and sounds good for those guys that have had issues with the mega cards... @thewusman are you still only using the demo for testing or do you have the game installed as I notice you keep quoting Arma mark. Its just that I found my game install was a lot more taxing than the demo ever was. I have ok results and the gameplay outweighs the average performance I get, I cant wait to play it on a rig that has SSD and smooth constant 60+ fps
  16. If I was to buy my dream LR rifle now it would be the Cheytac 408 40 cal 400gr @ 3000 fps More power than the 338 Lapua Magnum flatter than the 50 cal ( sabot rnds are not legal in AU- no rifling marks on projectile ) go check it out or Youtube it http://www.cheytac.com/Products/CheyTac408.asp
  17. m8 that is so common with controllers that use POTS (potentiometers) A few years back it was a curse when the sticks did not fully self center, hence the common practice of placing trim adjustment on the controller and calibration software. The recent crop of quality controllers are much better and dont suffer anywhere near as much. If you have a cheap n nasty stick ditch it and buy a good one or if it has drivers load them and calibrate before each session or when its needed. A simple trick is to increase the dead zone, this can often be done in the game settings for the controller etc.
  18. @Luhgnut I dont want to sound like an ahole as I do hear where your coming from re the wobble but... below is some actual physics to show the trajectory of a .50 cal BMG round. I nearly purchased one of these in a non military version but decided against it due the very fact that it has a shocking arc in its trajectory. It is actually already 24 inches above the LOS at 100m when zeroed at 1000m Of course this does not effect the accuracy or power just the aiming. If you read the table I have pasted below you will see that when zeroed at 1000m it has an arc in the bullet path above the LOS of 76 inches thats about 2m. So if you zero to hit where you aim at 1000m then you will have to hold under the 500m target by 2m, of course many sighting sytems can be adjusted on the fly to shift the zero shot to shot. 19. @Sniperdoc yep good vid demo of supersonic cracks I obviously spend too much time at the loud end of the range... :) A2 needs to beef them up and stretch em out to make them believable. BTW 1200m at moving targets thats tough I would need MG...lol
  20. Luhgnut if you visit Remingtons website they have ballistic tables that show that the 7.62 rnd does not stay supersonic for anything like a mile... depending on the bullet weight and muzzle velocity etc on average they fall below the speed of sound between 500m and 800m.(1/2 a mile) I have also never seen any good quality rifle bullet tumble at useable ranges unless it was to come into contact with something. I have done accurate shooting out to 1000m and never seen an oblong hole in a paper target, only round ones. If bullets tumbled in normal flight.... ie you say 200m... you would never hit anything at longer ranges and they would slow down exponentially as well as leaving a hole in the target that is not round in shape. I have seen a million bullet holes in targets and not one was anything but perfectly round..
  21. yeah well that makes sense as you are in the ideal place and distance. I agree the arma sound seems a bit high pitched.
  22. Sniperdoc my experience is similar to yours and I have had rnds strike hard rock very close to me. I have never heard a definate snap, I can only assume that unless you are far enough away from the main noise of the shot it gets drowned out. I have heard something like a snap over grain crops on very open ground. Speed of sound is about 1100fps so it makes sense that at the higher velocities in theory the bullet breaks the sound barrier. For most of the rounds that would not be the case at long range (after 500 -700 meters) I have heard different whine sounds most from ricochet but if my theory is correct it would be as the bullet slows below the sound barrier it is still displacing the air so should make some sound.
  23. Mort see Bollys other threads it may help you it solved Bollys probs
  24. I am not obsessed with VD but like most Arm2 players I have done a lot of testing and it makes no diff on my rig between 3.5k and 5+k I dont use AA as the drivers I have the least probs with wont allow AA to function well. I dont think ur obsessed with high settings and low VD but then thats just my POV.

    Cant play online!!!

Posted this in ur other thread too my settings are listed below where I have blank I mean nothing is shown in that box, these settings give me only local good ping servers. and I assume you are using 1.03 host = blank max ping = 150 min players = 0 max players= 0 mission = blank type = blank full servers = show passworded = hide
