I have a question regarding an issue I'm having with my distance script: while {true} do { waituntil {((player distance a1) <= 10);}; a1 say3d "sound";; Basically, when the player gets within 10 meters of an AI named a1, I want him to play a dialogue named "sound". This distance script is in init.sqf as execVM “distance.sqfâ€; . It doesn't work when I walk within 10 meters of the AI, and I can't seem to figure out why. Also I have a question about the object name "player", as this will be a multiplayer mission. Will this object name work for all players or will it only work if the host player activates the distance <= 10? If so do I need to set the object as an array of names of the playable units? Any insight would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Erm, well, they are supposed to be just standard double quotes... like shift + ' = ". That is what I'm using. I don't know why it's acting weird. -

Works after this. Strange, I use the same quotes around other scripts when using execVM in other missions and it works fine. -
waitUntil Distance <=10 question

Got this from the rpt file. "3:37:54 Error in expression <ssions\soundtest.Altis\init.sqf" execVM “distance.sqfâ€;> 3:37:54 Error position: <“distance.sqfâ€;> 3:37:54 Error Invalid number in expression" Apparently my init file is wrong... execVM “distance.sqfâ€; This is wrong? I looked...way too closely to see if I misspelled distance or any other syntax error and I can't find a thing... Edit: Same thing with InitPlayerLocal as well, doesn't make a difference. -

Im confused as to where to put those scripts, the init field? The name field? It doesn't specify on those things. I understand that maybe the poster thought everyone already knew basic scripting guidelines and such, but I still don't know what to do. -
Thats the sound of the bullet going into or coming out of supersonic speed If what you said about you being in the army is true, then of all people you should know this

Steam version shouldnt be any different than store bought, other than the auto-updater

Even if it did get ported all the players would think its shit, unless they watered it down and made it simple like they did with Battlefield bad company being put on the consoles

You honestly have an easier time ordering around units with the 360 controller?

Yeah, especially the griefers who put disturbing pictures of homosexual intercourse on the tanks and constantly try to get you to notice them. -
If they did this they would probably also have to introduce body physics to the game, how would you like to see someone get shot with a sniper rifle in the leg, and his leg gets torn off, but he appears to be floating on air cause they only have so many unique death animations. It would also be more computer intensive because of body physics simulation, especially large amounts of clustered enemies being blown up by a single bomb, I think you can imagine how low the frame rate would be then. Theres also the problems with rating standards and what some countries would think of this, for example, Germany, they are extremely strict about that kind of maturity. If you remembered Crysis, when someone tried to make a dismemberment mod, it got removed from all its hosted websites and the person was fined, because Crysis was made by a German game developer. Other games like the Man hunt series also had a tough time with the government as well, due to extreme realistic gore and violence.

What does ARMA 2 have that Operation Flashpoint 2 doesn't?

What the hell are you talking about? Its fine. And did you also forget there is an editor so you could have made your own perfect mission if you thought the BIS missions and multiplayer was terrible
