  1. It was stated that they don't have the manpower to do it....conversion of the Arma 2 models
  2. Yes, I guess you have a point there.........still, it would be nice for BIS to act on this.......in essence we would be helping them out........by pleasing the Arma 2 customers........maybe a group of volunteers can do it, that would limit the distribution of these source files.......coupled to some NDA.......
  3. A tutrial by BIS would be most welcome......
  4. As long as the community will provide the conversion, using torrents to distribute the modded textured for the Arma 2 resources, I don't see a problem. But the fact is, that the community needs to actual do it......would be nice to actual know what to do beforehand so that the conversion will be ready for Operation Arrowshead launch. Instead of doing it after the release date. Wolle, could you provide some details how to do it? Ask BIS to provide this data so we can already start the conversion......that is if the VBS2 technology is used and BIS knows exactlt how they plan to use the technique for OA.
  5. Thanks Wolle, it is impressive, too say the least, I can't be bothered with Arma 2 anymore, I'd like to Play Operartion Arrowhead :D

    Limited number of activations??

That is not true, I've activated it dozens of times....
  7. You have a link, which states that.......as that would really be a disappointment.....what are they going to do then? Expansion packs for the pc.....? I must admit I have not visited CM board as of yet, merely watched their videos and they seem quite okay as far as videos go.....
  8. I think that would only apply for the console market.......dlc for money for the pc market??? I don't think so....... It would be strange if you can't add your own content, that would deny what ofp was all about.....

    RH heli sounds 1.01

+1, I'd like to know this also....
  10. Somewhere in this thread of 80+ pages, don't ask me where exactly.....maybe I misunderstood.....anyhow....can't be bothered with Arma 2 now anymore. I'll wait for Operation Arrowhead for my modding needs. ---------- Post added at 07:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:55 AM ---------- Did you read the words: feels like..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally, I think I'd like Operation Arrowhead 10 x better.......
  11. It is odd, but I can't wait for this expansion..........somehow I feel like Arma 2 is not what it is supposed to be now that Operation Arrowhead is coming. That is partly due to the fact I like Operation Arrowheads settings more (Afghanistan), but also because Arma 2 feels like a down tweaked engine now that I know Operation Arrowhead will support additional features..........I wanted to start modding in Arma 2, but it won't make much sense when it is not compatible with Operation Arrowhead..... I can't help, but think, I want to play Operation Arrowhead now, instead of Arma 2.
  12. Most people will test the demo and probably buy it just of the share amount of variety it will bring.......BIS can learn a lesson of their marketing efforts for Operation Arrowhead if this does well.......and I'm sad to say it, but this will outsell Arma 2 in big numbers........if the pc version of this game supports a good editor where one can add content.....Operation Arrowhead better be great!
  13. Come on.....all of us will try the demo and I think alot of us will buy it, just because of the variety it brings. We're not only playing Arma 2, are we.... The interesting aspect here is if the game does well. If it does, BIS should have a look at it and learn from its marketing tactics. For example: the CM devs release videos (WIP) before the release, interviews with the people behind the screens etc. I would suggest to BIS to do the same for Operation Arrowhead. ...... I hope its editor is as strong as BIS is. And that one can add content to the pc game, if not........ Most important here is for BIS to pay attention, marketingwise.........you can say alot about CM, but they clearly listened to their customers incorporating their suggestions, lets hope BIS does the same for Operation Arrowhead.
  14. I never played any of the campaigns.........never appealed.........I only like the editor........am I alone at this???
  15. I guess we need to wait for news, interviews, videos.....we are spinning around the same topic for 80+ pages now..... It would be nice to see some WIP videos.....until that time......there is not much to debate......plans change...... 2010 is still far away, lads............

    trackir 5 question

Be sure to run both in administrator mode when on Vista/Windows 7 and minimalize TrackIR 5 after you have started it. Then start the game (in admin mode also).
  17. Torrent technology would help out there.....
  18. It is no real FLIR and it ain't good either....Try it on Cheranus and see if you can detect any vehicle on the ground from a somewhat distance....you can't....... ---------- Post added at 06:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:06 PM ---------- LOL........thank you for the heads up, charming as ever :) Well, then they can help with how to do that, specifying the parameters :) Assisting the community :) PS: that is a time related issue for BIS as stated earlier.
  19. We don't have FLIR in Arma 2 now!!! And I don't think (no offence intended) that you understand the technique which is used to add the FLIR feature as intended for OA. It won't be a problem if BIS will release a tool to the community, but....that is not sure as of yet and up to Wolle/BIS to confirm.....If such a tool won't be released.....then it could turn ugly as alot of people will be very pissed off....
  20. I agree with you, though. There should be a middleroad as I just posted above. Let us see what Wolle will come up with. If the time constraints prevent them from doing the work, a set of tools which will allow the community to do it is the least they can offer........Although, not as fancy as out of the box.......it will be sufficient for most people. If that doesn't happen, I guess alot of people who bought Arma 2 feel left in the cold.......and that could be really bad for BIS business wise. As people might turn to things out of the legal border, because they feel cheated. Sad, but a reality nowadays. And won't be willing to pay for the next product. I trust BIS to take the right decision here.... The initial Q&A gave the impression that the Arma 2 customers didn't throw away their money because it would be integrated within OAs spectrum.........and provide additional real estate, which pure OA customer wouldn't be able to access. See my example two threads earlier for a sketch if that wouldn't be the case........ Just wait on Wolle and BIS to reply
  21. Wolle, Could you then check with BIS if they will be soo kind enough to release tools for the community to do that....? For the vanilla Arma 2 models and addons..... I ask because I think alot of people will be very judgemental and angry about the fact that they can use Arma 2 vehicles, but not the new features which OA will bring within OA. That brings a whole new meaning to the usability of the Arma 2 pack for OA. And is therefor not compatible as stated earlier by Jenkins. There should be some middle road, I'd understand that there are time constraints, but leaving it totally out would make the vehicles models of Arma 2 kinda useless within OA. For example, if the player could see the Apache with FLIR properties, but the MI-24 not while in the same airspace.....that would shatter the immersion factor dramatically....if you get my drift........ Tools would be that middle way if BIS is lacking resources, timewise...........

TrackIR 5, what do you think?

I bought 5 recently, and I like it, but....the Pro clip is made of some kind of cheap plastic and breaks easily......I don't understand why Natrual point made it like that for an otherwise flawless product. It adds something new, but takes time to get used to....haven't made a final verdict, yet..... And yes, it is expensive.....
  23. That would be a wonderful addon indeed +1
