Arma 3 Alpha Steam DirectLink :P

Been trying since 1pm here to get the 'supporters edition'. I stayed awake from my night shift and still cant purchase it lol! Going to be a long night but prepared to wait..so guess i will pass out now as im fed up of trying :-P. steam is ok if you just want to jump in and play but i'd rather wait as it might save me some cash on dlc's etc in the future.

Opinions on the Alpha Release Date

I look forward to ArmA 3 but i do think it will be some time before it's released purely and simply because there will be more 'stepping stone's' for Bohemia to cross and possibly a few changes to make before an official release is confirmed. Bohemia have always strived to give us exactly what we want and that is where they shine above and beyond any other gaming developers and i am grateful for this, there are so many game's these days that get only a few patches before they are forgotten about.. so Alpha release? I say March, the later on in the year(2013) it is the better it will be and also gives us more time to save for new hardware :-).

    Broken textures/models/graphics

Horus pointed something out earlier in the ATI thread as there have been problems with ati's so called legacy product's!...here's a link for the driver and a description for you.. http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst124ahotfix.aspx Thank's to Horus for the Info and find on the new driver ;-) EDIT* if you are uninstalling i recommend following this guide ... http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards
  4. Nice one Horus ;-) will give that a blast over the weekend and report back.

    Graphic Anomalies

Hey Svarun, try this link to uninstall drivers first then re-install new ones after you have done this... link to a guide the way i do it. Just take your time and read it through it's very straight forward. http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards hope this works for you :-).

    Graphic Anomalies

I have had very similar issues using latest drivers :s so i now have reverted back a few no current issues after hours of testing. Currently using 12.1 drivers was using the latest 12.4.
  7. If the ssd is large enough just install ARMA and the operating system on the ssd and then use the old installation of win 7 for all your other games apps etc...then apply your tweaks... . It wont really do any good having your operating system on a mechanical drive and running ARMA off the ssd, i have tried this already and i personally had lame results not saying it wont work just saying your defeating the object of having the ssd. All my games run fine on a normal drive but when it comes to ARMA it's a beast and very demanding. I would say a 60 gb drive would be enough to get everything you need on plus mods if required, as for space on your other drive i really cant say... i have two externals for things i want to keep like pics, music, documentary's i even keep all my old ARMA patches and ati drivers on there. The ARMA.cfg is a great way to customize your game but you need to sort the load times out first....if i had your pc in front of me my eye's would be bleeding until i found a solution :-). EDIT** More links for you: startup parameters.. to use these right click on ARMA 2 OA exe and go to properties... from there add these to your target line example off my pc: "F:\ArmA 2\Bohemia Interactive\arma2oa.exe" -nosplash -world=empty -nosplash will skip the splash screens at start -world=empty game will load up faster (with these options i get about 1 or 2 seconds difference loading arma 2 up from the click of the exe.) http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters arma 2 cfg link: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg Keep us posted and let me know how you get on ;-) Regard's KrIxXuS

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!

I'm looking forward to jumping in :-), i dont have a lot of cash but don't mind paying for something i know will get full support from the offset. We should be greatful we still have the ARMA series and such a good community behind it. Those that really want the game will surely get it somehow...maybe a poll on the thread : 'pre' purchase for beta or 'open' beta. The way i see it the more beta tester's they have the better it will be for them to make last minute changes, it is important they get it just right this time i certainly cant afford a new pc every 3 years... only thing i will upgrade is a new card in two weeks time when i get paid and still not sure whether to go ATI or NvIDIA. Would be nice to get some info on Bohemia's test rig's?? Thank's for the response RiE and loving the link's('lot of thing's' and 'prefer') made me laugh ;-).
  9. @lovaklobak tell me if im wrong here but your running w7 64 on a normal mechanical drive and you currently have ARMA 2/oa etc on an ssd i would recommend having ARMA 2 and os on same disk if possible or at least on seperate ssd's, i have run ARMA2 off a 5400rpm drive and it ran ok just took a decade to load maps etc but ssd is a much smoother ride if installed correctly. I have done pretty much the same thing in the past as yourself with poor results but now have my operating system on one ssd and ARMA 2/oa etc on my larger ssd. Worth noting that small system tweaks can help a little if your willing to play around with your settings, i have used some of these to generally sharpen up my pc and customise it...takes a little common sense really so use at your own risk but i found all this of great help to me after much searching... also gamebooster by iobit absolutely free... a friend introduced it to me a couple of years ago it's great. Your system sounds pretty neat and no way it should take that long to kick up ARMA 2... It takes my pc about 8-12 seconds max to get into arma and about 20-30 max to boot into windows. Are you on the latest arma 2/oa patch?? Tried messing with your ARMA2OA.cfg?? Tried installing different Graphic's drivers? A lot of this is very much trial and error but it's worth it when it goes right. system tweaks w7: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?63273-*-Windows-7-Ultimate-Tweaks-amp-Utilities-* Gamebooster 3 http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
  10. Have been getting the dreaded 'white out' and flickering again after re-installation and re-editing of config..cant remember for the life of me what stopped it...had it running fine before with v sync off cant remember whether it was catalyst AI setting's :S in the meantime if any of you helpful lot can help me get my ailing memory back i'd be grateful... ..still getting great frame rate's out of this old 4870 x 2 and as soon as i get a new card i will consider donating it to someone that need's it(yes that's right give it away!!). Running latest beta patch and 1.60 patch...and drooling at the thought of ArmA 3.

    TS3 Mic will not work

Had this problem myself and running arma 2 and ts as admin solved it for me.
  12. The PEBKAC bug as mike stated is a real problem, having had it myself im fully sympathetic... but after reading these forums and using the search function i managed to sort 99% of my issues with arma 2 which sees me running a respectable fps and runs fine with no major issues... if you are looking for a quick and easy fix then good luck but i really cant see you have any problem here at all...maybe a little more info about what patches you are using and drivers for catalyst etc...also i would say that using certain mods will in some cases decrease your frame rate's but probably not too dramatically...maybe try editing the arma2oa config and customising to your own preference as prompted in the link above??
  13. Using 4870x2 and yes i had to go back a long way.. my issue was missing options in main menu for textures but i was having flickering issues and screen whitening ... similar to your issues... i spent a whole day trying to figure it out lol :P
  14. Have had this myself in the past few days whilst trying to sort other issues out.. the screen would go really bright so i couldnt see and occasionally the flickering was really erratic .. maybe try installing different drivers for your graphics card and altering your settings a little... using an older driver worked best in my case(10.2).

    i7 hyperthreading

My hyperthreading is on here and all is running great... overclocked a little and running fine no major issues.... :-)
  16. Ok so i have finally managed to solve the issue, it appears that going back to 10.2 catalyst drivers resolved all... i am now able to get very high for texture's again and alter my video settings appropriately and the game actually runs much more stable with all the latest A2 patches... still very odd how those options were missing with the latest driver for ati (11.9)..anyway... thankyou for responding guys... appreciated. :-)
  17. Hi all, i am running the latest patches... i have arma 2/oa pmc and baf lite and for some reason i can not set my gfx options correctly. The texture detail will not go above normal no matter what i mess with and the video memory wont go above normal either :S completely confused. ..i have had it running sweet in the past but after having a break it no longer runs correctly ..have tried re-installing but has not fixed the problem... Latest ati patch, application profiles... defragged hd etc. any help greatfully appreciated :D
  18. Hi, its set on normal at the moment but i have messed around with other settings and it will not go beyond normal regardless of settings etc.... I would usually have this setting on very high but at the moment it appears thats not an option lol. currently trying 10.10 drivers with hotfix and latest application profiles and still no joy.
  19. Just re-installing at the moment again.. .. really odd this one... i have tried uninstalling ati drivers also..will keep you posted..thankyou for quick response. EDIT: Tried uninstalling all that and same problem, what a nightmare tried older catalyst and still no luck.. :(
  20. Maybe audio options in game? Goes from 16 to 128. Try upping the audio settings....i know when my setting's are at the lowest i miss certain sound effect's occasionally if there is a lot happening.

To the Ati-guys with old 4xxx-series

4870x2(2gb) I found 10 series drivers and hotfix better but the new driver 11.1 is a pretty good combination with the latest beta~(77819) although not as much fps as 10. drivers, for me i find the newer one a little more stable and am able to up my in game settings a little more without a huge hit on performance.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 77819

Some link's showing the difference between patch 1.57.76815 and the new beta patch 77819 with AtoC. No change in settings for pictures and default in ATI CCC 11.1 http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee477/KrIxXuS/4.png http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee477/KrIxXuS/3.png http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee477/KrIxXuS/2.png http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee477/KrIxXuS/1.png Great improvement and fullness of foliage is clearly visible in comparison to earlier patches although i am getting slight transparency on the trees(not an issue). Also since the last patch/es seems to have made the scope's a lot more fluid, i mentioned this before but definitely it has improved for me after some more testing.

    What's next after Arrowhead?

I think a snowy environment would be pretty cool addition to the map's :) we have seen this as an addon but would be great to have a large(ish) island like thirsk as a standard map for all to edit and use online.

    ArmA2:OA Beta Patch Build 77706

:confused:i honestly dont know. ArmA 2 was installed fresh about 1 or 2 wk's ago. Re-installed new ATI Driver's11.1(completely erased old ones) installed application profiles and i have not altered the ccc settings in any way... i altered the in game settings because the new patch seems a lot more stable and i wanted to get rid of the slight texture problem on the foliage/trees as shown in a few other posts here(which has virtually vanished now) although i am seeing less fps it run's better...tested last night on valhalla DAO server and had no problems at all with 70+ people on explosions etc happening... my fps went as low as 30 and generally stayed around the 40 - 60 mark(fraps)...(more than good enough) the scoping for me seemed a lot better ...little more responsive will try a little more with this later. I adjust my setting's accordingly...i have no need to see a bajillion ai screaming around my lcd :D as long as it runs smooth and looks acceptable then thats all i need, fraps is just there as a guideline so i can see the difference between the patches and driver's. I have spent many hours messing with my pc and the game itself to get the most out of it ...defrag/uninstallation of junk switching off unwanted processes etc/disabling unused hardware/unplugging usb devices that are not being used etc....I do not run any addons except the DAOVH addon(which is pretty cool) This patch along with new drivers is a MAJOR improvement once again excellent job guy's. Edit: thermal vision :)

    ArmA2:OA Beta Patch Build 77706

Im using very latest 11.1 ATI Drivers and catalyst profiles(awesome:cool:) Also getting similar issue's but really not a big deal, i turned my aa to normal and aniso to very high which took most of it away, it seems better although orange trees at a distance look really fluffy :D....BUT the game in my opinion looks amazing and i can for the first time use anisotropic filtering(v.high) and pp on low :) without a great deal of a performance hit...gotta be the patch to end all patches for me... this is GREAT!!! My settings in game... All running sweet at the moment. Good work BIS and thankyou, appreciated
